The score? I loved it! Thought it was quite beautiful in some parts. It was playing before the screening and said to RidgeTop that I hope what we were hearing was the score, because I liked it a lot. Turned out it was! It's got very sweeping beautiful sounds, along with intense stuff for the action scenes.

I remember drums and wind instruments throughout the whole score. But not Silvestri sounds. There are tribal sounds though, and in the drums. I'm also only one viewing in and can't place the entire score in my memory. Was a long day with all the SDCC stuff leading up to the film, so I was admittedly tired during the screening.

It's not just with the creature that Trachtenberg strives to surprise; the epic music by composer Sarah Schachner is atypical of a horror movie and lends a unique, adventurous quality to the film.

"I'm so glad you bring this up because one of my favorite things about this movie is that we have such a beautiful score. It's funny because we started out temping the movie with a lot of Sicario. And many of my conversations early on with Sarah were oriented toward making things atmospheric, moody, and drone-y, a lot of what is in contemporary movie scores. Then as we continued in the process, the movie started demanding that it have something different."

The score is already available on Spotify in Brazil and I'm listening to it right now. It's phenomenal.

And purchased the MP3 album via Amazon, but no signs of a CD release. I do love it when I get to listen to the scores in isolation. I really enjoyed it in the film, but it's when I can sit and listen that I can really take it in and this is just fantastic.
