I grew up on Liguafoeda archeronsis myself (as horribly inaccurate as it may be) 🤣

MetalAlien

If we were going to give the species a real latin name hopefully it includes something about being biomechanical as to rule out any alien that is not that.

So Metal Flesh Genitalia in Latin Could be the good name for it?

Quote from: Acid_Reign161 on Jun 06, 2024, 08:12:54 PMIt *is* however the in-universe accepted common name, as per Alien 3 Assembly Cut;

Aaron; "Whaddya call it?"
Ripley; "A Xenomorph."
Aaron; "...how d'ya spell it?"

If it were just a term designated to any unknown extraterrestrial threat, Ripley would not be using it, as she knows what it is; this is the creatures name.

I don't even buy that.  Ripley may have simply been repeating what she heard Gorman call it on the Sulaco, figuring it would be more likely to get the company's attention than something like "beast" or "dragon" might.

This is exactly correct. Gorman referred to it as such, so Ripley did likewise knowing the Company would know what she was talking about.

It's simply an easy term of reference; nothing more.

Happens every time I ask those two f**ks a question.

Unfortunate but true.

I don't make the rules.

Audio for Brett's footsteps is out of sync with the video for this exclusive DC shot (both 2003 DVD and 2010 BD):

Lambert's boot tip leaves a sizeable scuff mark on the deck as she takes Ripley:

Quote from: PAS Spinelli on Jun 06, 2024, 09:01:01 PMThis is basically how the scene wouls go if Gorman wasn't trying to dound fancy or smart:
"We have a possible unknown animal infestation"
"A what sir?"
"An unknown animal."
Question, does this mean they encounter more creatures on other planets?

So like Callisto, because I have rumors that beneath the ice, there could be potential for life

Europa and it would depend on what they found. Xenomorph isn't a commonly used term otherwise Frost would be familiar with it.

It's probs only used by Xenobiologists/people in very specific fields, which makes Gorman using it even more of a eye roller

SM

Yeah. Green lieutenant trying to exert some authority and not resort to gauche terms like 'bug hunt'.
