What surprise?
probably Badlands.

My theory is that Fede is probably acting on studios' orders to start putting the idea of a possible AvP movie into the heads of the audience, so that once Badlands airs and reveals to be a secret AvP movie, the audience is more welcoming to it.

What happened!?!?

Nightmare Asylum

Nothing has happened. Just lots of people speculating that there is going to be some secret AVP element baked into Badlands.

At minimum, I think we're going to see that film living and breathing in a world that is clearly that of the Alien universe.

Still Collating...

Nothing happened, I think just someone is overreaching in their assumption that Badlands will have an Alien Easter Egg or something for which we have absolutely no reason to believe that's the case right now. No substantive hints yet, Fede's comments don't sound to me like hints of actual things in development, just his wishful thinking IMO.

Id have no issue with some kind of colonial marines, WY or even some of the organisations in Alien/Aliens getting a name drop or something like that but I don't think it will be more than that.

Don't get me excited

What if we get a reference to Chigusa instead of Weyland-Yutani?

Mr.Turok

I'm all in for making sure the Alien itself doesn't appear in Badlands. I'm so glad that we have a successful Predator film to start off and just to imminently shove the Alien in there feels like as if the series just cannot stand out on its own. Sure, let have some elements of the series like WY, Chigusa, Seegson, Hyperdine, or any other entity present in whatever form or matter, but let's not make it AVP so soon now just because Prey went super well.

CANNON

Yeah I agree with that, as much as I want a creative and smart AvP film I think it makes sense to let Predator have its theatrical release and let it cook a bit first.

Quote from: Highland on Feb 22, 2025, 02:08:19 AMProbably get flamed for this but I do think the Human/Predator team up is the best way to make this movie. It worked in the OG comic perfectly. I dont think you can spend too long following the Predators around on their own, you obviously cant with the Alien, so its the human part that matters.

Even something as simple as them working on the same side ( they dont actually have to "team up") to control the outbreak of the Aliens. Maybe the Predators even use the humans to their advantage.

I just cant see how you make it otherwise, Anderson kind of had it right, but just blew that script.

I've never had a problem with the team-up myself. It's always been how it's presented. I absolutely dislike it in Anderson's AvP because Lex doesn't earn the respect. She shows no skill, she just pulled the spear up and gravity did the work for her. It doesn't work for me. But Machiko always did work.

But it's also the same kind of problem I have with Predator films wanting to revisit the Bad Blood concepts. Predators did it poorly (though, not terrible) and The Predator also did it poorly (and very muddied). I have no interest in seeing them revist this concept. (Just an example).

I kinda feel the same way about a team-up in any potential AvP. I'm kinda bleh on it, purely because of the taint of Anderson's AvP.

But I am absolutely thrilled with the idea of more cinematic AvP (I need some new games, comics and novels too please).

The team up has to give some advantage to the Predator. The Predator has to be in a position where it can't complete its objective without the help of a human. The 'team up because I respect you' is meh.

Nightmare Asylum

For all of its many problems, I do think Predators did its limited teamup pretty well. Felt like the Pred and Royce were both getting something out of it, and it was never really going to amount to anything more than that for them.

BigDaddyJohn

Yeah for all it's problems I don't think the quick team up in Predators was really one of them.

The Cruentus

The team up made sense in Predators, One needed to be free, the other needed a ship to go home. Mutual beneficially agreement with no long term expectations. It was simply a fair trade so to speak.
