Acid Splash

Hey everyone, I was curious about any ideas people have or hope to see for the story of a sequel to this awesome game! I know the writer of the previous game floated out the idea of wanting to tackle a story from the perspective of the Weyland Yutani Commandos. I personally love the idea, and I hope they get to get the limelight in the future.

I think otherwise seeing more of the Darwin Era cult could definitely be fun to see fleshed out further, especially with the recently announced Alien Cult novel coming out next year it feels pretty relevant.

Make the ancient citizens into the main antagonists

I think the reverse. They should remain in the background, as an ominous presence. Let's go in radically different directions.

I agree that's why I think the weyland yutani commandos are perfect, I'd love to see them on cover up or xeno specimen retrieval style missions could be really cool and different to see.

I think the commandos probably work better as a DLC type of story over having main character energy.

Their goals are kind of limiting.  Unless the stories writing is just downright brutal from your character's perspective.

You are probably trying to contain and hide infestation.

Which is what every WY unit does in the history of WY games and stories, and half that mission set is exactly what the Marines would be doing.  So you won't interact with any civilians, because you are dicks which limits your interactions even more, and if you make them suddenly find consciences halfway through the story.......been done a million times as well.

The only way I think it could be interesting is if you are actually fostering an infestation on a world, but I don't know how well being a mass genocidist people would really dig.

I really disagree with you on that Stern and Hayes are two examples in the story itself that directly show that just because you work for the company doesn't mean you're a heartless monster. In the story itself Harper starts accusing Stern of that kind of stuff and he reveals his entire team were killed trying to rescue people which led to him being captured and put in with the egg. There's also a lot of background story you can find that reveals there were mercs who sided with the cult even. So I don't think there's any need to have the characters be outright dicks or genocidal pricks.

My other point was that if you did make them heart felt carebears...........that is the exact same thing as the Marines in game.

The only other thing you could do was give them different class abilities, but you are already going to do that in a sequel regardless.  Otherwise its the same style of story, without being an actual continuation of the story from the first game.

Just seems kind of counter intuitive to me, to give the WY mercs the exact same story/mission as the USCMC, when you could much more easily just continue the story from the first game of the marines if that is where you are going.

But if it makes you do nekkid helicopters, that's fine.

Its just that it reads, "We are gonna make the exact same game, just with the Marines reskinned as corporate mercs."  Which in the history of the series has led to wheel spinning non progression.  See the United Systems Military.  Back when they wanted to get out from under the USCMC the first time.  Same dudes, just 200 years later.  No difference.

It is a crime that Aliens Fireteam Elite got a "story DLC" and this did not.

Couldn't agree more. I hope this gets a sequel, one day. Or just another independent story, by this team.

I would love more of the same.
