At least it's still a dickhead.

It's a stubby dickhead now. :P Any and all elegance is thrown out the window in favour of a buzzsaw lizard.

(Don't take my horrible comments about it too much to heart. Just not a fan of the design).

I get not liking the design, but how can you claim that all its elegance is gone, when we barely saw it in action.

Sure, there are definitely elements of the design that are more animalistic than the big chap, but that doesn't mean that it couldn't act with a degree of elegance.

Also, just to add to the comment that you responded to, I think that this xenomorph as the most dick shaped head, because it almost looks like it as veins.

Its visual design has no elegance. How it acts has no correlation at the moment, but I will put money down that it will be about as elegant in motion as Pacman.

And yes, it's head is definitely dick shaped, just a stubby one.

Honestly I think it looks great in the film. Legacy Effects seems to have done a great job as usual.

*The hands / fingers are an improvement on previous redesigns.

*Don't like the dinosaur 'raptor legs (and feet).

*Don't like the silly chainsaw-bladed ridges on the tail - about as subtle as the stupid sword-tip, seen in earlier redesigns.

*The stubby dorsal tubes aren't good.

*Not sure about the colour of this Alien, it looks okay, I think?

*Don't like the jaws tendons, the rounded, forehead (the "Big Chap" Alien still has the best-shaped head).

*Don't like the baby teeth (they look undersized). At least these are shiny chrome.

Spoiler
Hope Big Chap has his original vocals used - no Alien since the original - has sounded as frightening.

I suspect a lot of high pitched squealing in this one. And I'm not sure
Spoiler
Big Chap will make any noise at all.

I have to say, I love the design (look forward to seeing it on the big screen with a particular interest in its movements and how it sounds). The Design is clearly bringing the Xeno back to its roots with the original Giger design in mind - which I love.

Anyone who knows my posts regarding Prey, know I was, like many extremely displeased that the original Predator design was abandoned for what ever it is we got. An action decided to disregard and replace the classic iconic Winston design which defined and established the predator. With that being said at least with the Alien universe we still have filmmakers who respect the lore, show respect to the Giger design and make their attempts to use this established and beloved designs to tell a new story.

This is a dang way away from Giger's design.

People see some tubes in the design and suddenly it's Big Chap 2.0.

Giger's work is sleek and elegant and not designed to look explicitly monstrous. You see it and for a moment you think it might not be about to eat you.

This is a video game design meant to look vicious and animalistic and threatening at a glance. There's none of what made the original such a revolutionary design here.

That's not to say it's bad. It's just in the same ball park of design philosophy as everything AR onwards.

It's not exact but it's close and my thought was they were mindful of the original design while creating this one. For example certain features were used such as the human skull in the head, to me a nod to Giger. I do agree they aren't exact matches and there are differences but my point is they are a lot closer, a lot more comparable than Prey vs Winston's Predator design. Therefore to me, the Alien universe, the Xeno design itself is treated with respect. People may disagree with me but this is my opinion and I feel it's validated when I look at this Scorch xeno design.

Well, if you compare it to what Feral look like, yes it's closer to the original design, but that's an easy win.

Yeah I'm not disagreeing at all with you guys, Romulus alien is a different design compared to the original big chap. There's a lot I personally would have done differently, the jaw tendons, why in the statue and pictures released it's mouth looks always open wide, the dorsal spines, the overall head size and a other changes. Though even with that, I'm sure when watching this film, we will all agree that we will be watching an Alien movie with an actual xeno design. Different but with clear thoughtfulness and respect to Higer's original design. Unlike for me, when watching Prey's Feral Predator to Winston's original design.

With all that, that's why I'm grateful about the design and love what I see. I respect how filmmakers treat the alien property, and are respectful to the design and therefore to the fans. Whereas I feel predator is lost and no longer predator, atleast how I've always known it to be. So in other words I'm excited to see Romulus and see how they chose to bring the Alien back to the screen.

It really reminds me of the way that Takayuki Takeya exaggerates the Alien form, leaning into the monstrous.
