1. What would a pred sculpt be like by you?
2. Would you consider making a bust of each Alien design? (Not AvP)

Phillip, I´m happy you post your stunning work here too.

Your Warrior bust is superior and really, really outstanding work. I favor it over the SideShow 1:1 bust.

Your really should consider the effort of making molds and cast a few.

Anyway, please keep us all posted about this progress and hopefully other creative work of yours.

Nothing really to say about the sculpt, it is practically flawless. It lacks those "eye socket" remains but for a reason, so no flaw in that.

Waiting for the full version, with paint... something really amazing I can see already! ;) :)

Thank you so much guys! I'm really glad you all like what I've done.
I've been working on it slow with no deadline on and off for about 6 months give or take... I don't really remember when I started. This is my first sculpt in 3 yrs so I had to re-learn a lot of basics... Hope I'll be able to tell when it's finished! lol

Fitzgerald: I might start a pt 1 very soon after this. I'm wondering what a Predator by me would look like as well... maybe someday I'll find out!

Locusta: Good to hear from you! Thanks again. It means a lot bro.

Omegazilla: Yep, those were my reference photos! lol I was going back and forth on the "dents"... as I used to call them. Do you know anything about the story behind them? Did they repair an earlier design after they tossed the domes?

Monolith: lol I don't know about that, but it would be nice to fund future projects! I will be making casts, but have yet to decide mask or bust..

Is the dome solid or is there some type of framing or support?...such as with paper mache?

Also the teeth being a lighter color are they sculpted separately with a lighter clay...or is it painted?

Thanks! The whole thing is on an understructure made of 2x4's, plastic bags ,newspape,r tape and plaster... slolid clay on top of that 2 to 3" thick in some spots like the forehead. The teeth are plastic from a silicone mold. they still need a lot of work as does the sculpt but here is the latest.

lol thanks guys! I'm planning on display masks half filled with foam so you can wear it as well... each mask will come with a stand and be painted by me. I'm looking into latex additives that expand the life of masks and alternative materials right now... On the sculpt, I've done some work on the top of the head around the ribs so I'll post an update soon.

As far as Predator, I might do a sculpt some day in the near future but I imagine a warrior suit or Giger Alien might come first.

on a side note, if anyone has any links tio vinyl mask making I'd be interested to check that out!

Masks would be awesome, but making a mold for polystone statues would be amazing as well. Those things look great on display. Hell, even if it was plastic it would still look great.

But seriously, you are an artist. This thing is superior to the Sideshow sculpt by a lot. If you are not taking art classes now, I would recommend it because you show astounding talent and attention to detail. This thing is beautiful.

Love it. I did something similar in high school but only had the tiny scorpion alien from those Kenner toys to work from so the detail was limited. It was 1:1 bust cast in plaster from a clay sculpture. I did it during mid year school holidays as part of a mixed media peice (also did a huge painting with me webbed up on a wall and an alien behinds me) and took me about 6 weeks. GOD it was fun to make. At the absolute height of my alien fandom. I also did a 1:1 Predator one too including plasma caster based on Anytime. Kinda makes me wanna get back into it again. They weighed a freaken tonne.

I want one. No, I NEED one.  :o

Thanks to the Monolith, I've decided that poly stone is the way to go... I will most likely add shoulders now. I've done a lot of work since my last update, so I'll try and get new pictures up soon.

Entire molds or backpipes?
Because half and Alien sticking out of your backpack would be awesome!

backpipes evidently, the molds would not be so useful unless i plan to reproduce more of them.

what i am interested right now is in buying an old aircraft tow in my local airport. it happens to be the same model of the M-577 APC! i'm sure i could get it with a discount since they are replacing them and maybe fit it with the scraps from a riot control bus from the police. then, i could Soak Anarquist scum with style!

molds worked out great! One obscure detail (at least to me) is the group of four vertical bars on the left shoulder sail. On most models they put three on both sides... more to come

I just wanted to let yall know the mold came out better than anticipated and production will begin shortly. I had to sort my workspace and do a lot of moving around of furniture to make room for the mold/tables... Painted pictures will def be up within the week.

Would greatly add to the look if it doesn't cost too much money.
I've never made such a bust myself. Must have cost upwards of 500 dollars.

He's just making molds, which is a good idea in case te "hero" bust is damaged or broken.

Quick update:

The cast came out of the mold looking good, and I finally got a chance to measure it... From his gums to the back of his head he is 37 1/2 inches long, 21 inches tall and 22 inches wide. Thanks for all the support guys, it's been a hard fought road but I can see the light at the end of the air-duct. Next update will have pictures! Ye haw

Here is the latest scoop: I finished painting it but was unhappy with the way it seemed cut off at the bottom so I sculpted more ribs, giving him a 4" lift plus I made a mold of an oval table top for the base for an additional 2" It looks great as if I planned it from the get go to be a bust as opposed to the evolving project it has been.

The project itself hasn't been taking up all my free time, I've just had some home repairs that could no longer be ignored.

So PB, now that this project is completed and we all eagerly await the hinted at copies that you considered making a while back, what shall your next skultping project be?
Will you stick to the alien universe for now, or shall you delve into the predator universe for your next artistic endeavor?

I really want to do a part one because I've never seen that design nailed since the film. I did this one first because I wasn't ready to tackle the Giger. Now I am ready but I have to get better clay this time and find the proper conduits as they were not sculpted in the first film. After that I might do a Runner bust. Predator would be fun, but a lot of artists have done a good job on that creature I think. I would have to be inspired by a behind the scenes pic of a facial expression that i have never seen captured. IDK I've been on an alien kick for 20 something years so Pred might have to wait. Thank you so much guys. I'm putting together a little youtube collection of pics and video clips that I will post a link to soon.

Would love to see your pred because since you outdid sideshow's xeno, your preds would no doubt be awesome as well.

Would love to see some of the smaller critters, such as facehuggers and chestbursters as well.

Whatever you make next, it will no doubt be wonderful.

As it turns out, the bust is not finished... I've recently made him 5 inches taller and tilted him looking down in more of a classic pose...


Added longer arms pieces as I always felt they were cut a little short.

thanks!! ... I'm feeling a lot better about this pose... before it was too stiff looking and the arm stubs were too stubby short. All the issues I had with it before are being fixed. The whole thing is more in proportion to the base now as well. When I tilted him down I knew I had to raise him up higher so his chin would be a foot from the surface it's sitting on. It looks a lot better when mounted up on a higher piece of furniture too.  I'm going to try and nail this new paint job better also. Taking pictures of it should be more rewarding as well because I wont have to crop as much with more arm and ribs.

I'm thinking this is as big as it can get while still being called a bust.

Be sure you post that soon. I think the Louve needs a call to put this beauty in the bust section.
