Poll
Question:
Who's the better "only actor to be killed by etc." guy?
Option 1: Lance Henriksen
votes: 5
Option 2: Bill Paxton
votes: 6
I guess most of us here on the humble AvPGalaxy know both Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton have played characters killed and/or maimed by Aliens, Predators, and Terminators, among other things, but who's better? Whose kills were classier, or more memorable?
This thread idea came from whiterabbit, so . . . credit to them.
Hudson. He went down all shooty and sweary.

Hey don't blame me for this. I just said there was a fair fight here. I didn't know they were lookin' for somebody to lead this crazy attack. :P
Somebody needs to make a list of their accomplishments. Cause I know Bill battled a tornado but if I recall correctly, it didn't kill him.
Oh and don't forget Lance torched a Predator and unloaded a few rounds into a Terminator with a manly hey. This is gonna be great.
Wasn't Bill also a Vampire?

Near Dark, I believe.
I've been here too long. My phone almost corrected "dark" to "Drake."
Shit it just dawned on me that Lance Henriksen is in Near Dark too. Of all the things. This is just too damn close to call.
And they both had explosive deaths in that movie too.
Jenette Goldstein was in that movie as well.

Call me crazy, but, damn does Henriksen have a nice signature. I'm gonna have to buy two Bishop figures--one to pose, and the other to keep in the box to get signed.

Paxton's still ahead.
I mean, giving him credit for not fainting or making a mess when Henriksen did the knife trick; apparently, no one told him that was going to happen.
Lance Henriksen is a Jedi? When did that happen in a movie?

Paxton must've gotten too into character the night before. Probably playing drinking games with Drake.
Still cant reconcile with in my mind that Bill is dead. :'(

Yes he totally did. I agree he gets extra points for that, but then again, you don't see him get "killed" by both aliens, and his Terminator death is kinda lame when you think about it... He just gets thrown away haha.
I'm not at all convinced Paxton died in "The Terminator". Actually I highly doubt it.
I always had doubts too... I mean the terminator is damn strong, but he didn't seem to throw him away that hard...

Well, Hagrid's not a skinny little thing like Paxton was.
Ah, yes. The benefits of extra padding.
I once bored someone at a party by talking about the training the actors went through for
Aliens. Apparently, some of them had to gain up to thirty pounds for their roles. That's a lot.
On this thing about the Terminator not killing people. He didn't kill the cop whose car he stole either nor the truck driver. So this is adding up to a glaring realization. It's unlikely the terminator killed him. With all things considered, he probably ran off like a whiny little bitch.
So we better be saying Paxton "confronted" 3 mythic movie antagonists instead of being killed by those 3 ;D

Just out of curiosity, is Plastic Hudson braver than human Hudson?
I mean he must be, I'm sure at some point he's faced off against all kinds of things like dinosaurs, grenade wielding teddy bears, darth vader, GI Joe and there was that rumor of a Buzz Lightyear backyard showdown in Canada way back in the early 2000's.
Perhaps he should be added to the poll?

Either way, we're still geeks to the outside world.
Well at least the donkey porn thread was deleted. More on to the point I don't know why we can't just get a serious alien related movie every year. They'll never release it. It's going to be Neil and his powerloaders vs. Scott and his androids for years to come.
The war of preferred directions rages on. And whatever we do get, nobody is likely to be satisfied.

I thought A:CM was considered "Aliens 2."
Until Ridley Scott kicks the bucket, or Sigourney Weaver does.
I think it's disingenuous to say that all Neill wanted was Powerloaders,
but I will say that I believe he doesn't understand the series
and that from the ideas he presented- what he did want was trite.
I think neither Scott or Blomkamp hit the nail on the head, Scott in writers he's hired or
the Alien being of the cosmic unknown inherently.
But he gets that it's an unrelenting rape monster in a world that's utterly f**ked where the company
can and will exploit you.
You can't always get a happy ending, that requires the same as in IRL- luck and perseverance.
& I think he was far closer to the mark than N.B's track record indicates (In writing, directing, concept)
N.B would've been.

My mention of powerloaders and androids was merely a reference to the most common complaints I've heard regarding the movies. Sometimes it seems like if you're a fan of Neil's idea, then you just want more Marines and Powerloaders. If you're a fan of Scott's direction, you just want more Androids/Blade Runner stuff and philosophy.
Neither of those is my personal opinion, nor do I necessarily agree with them. But of course, this is starting to head off topic, and I apologize for my contribution to that.
