Ahem…As a few of you figured out the Space Jockey concept art was in fact an April Fool’s from the pencil of none other than our very own amazingly talented Cellien.
And as well that we’ve also made the 10 Most Heartbreaking April Fool’s Movie News Scoops (2011). And there’s more. Other movie sites picked up the image and had a bit of a run with it: Aint It Cool News, JoBlo and FilmShaft.
ORIGINAL APRIL FOOL’S POST: This finally answers the question is Prometheus related to Alien. We’ve scooped an exclusive sneak peak at some concept art from 20th Century Fox:

I actually saw this over at IMDB so either AvPGalaxy stole it from there or some lurker took it already. People seem to be pretty happy. They're flippin out over there about the whole Predator canon thing. At least its official now.

He doesn't necessarily NOT have legs, they could just be hard to distinguish due to his stance/lighting. But yeah i agree, i'm very intrigued with the direction this is going. Did NOT expect that.

Prometheus should be named Aliens vs. Space Jockeys vs. Humans vs. Predators. Just kidding, this is some excelent news and it boosted my hopes again. The space jockey looks good, better than I've imagined, it really shows Giger's work and talent (like that is arguable).

It just needs some detail changes. Make the vest more shaped on his arms, lose the backpack and the shoulder canon (there are enough bad connections between alien races), and lose those three round shapes from his hips and widen the legs to not look like a friggen mermaid or snail.

Ok we basicly know nothing about the Space Jockeys. will they have any connection with the Predators we will see later on. They said it will be an Alien movie so expect to see one. This is only a concept as in an idea. No one said yes the final version of the movie will have the Space Jockeys with sholder canons and heat vision and wrist blades. Stay calm and just be patient. Erich von Daniken said it himself "It is a time when HR Giger's monster didn't exist. "I have to create something new." Maybe this one wont be the same as the first 4 with aliens just breaking loose and killing everyone.

Just spoke to Herrn Giger. He confirmed but corrected, that it´s not an Predator Plasma caster but a simple hairdryer. Charlize Theron insisted on adding it to the final SJ design.

Nice pic, though I wouldn't say it says that there's a 100% chance of Aliens. Is the shoulder cannon Predator related? I got the impression that this would be a Ridley Scott unique film and I didn't imagine that he would include Predator references in his own story otherwise I would have made a thread asking about that. Do you think that the fact that a space jockey has a shoulder cannon is proof that they've come into contact with Predators? Remember the space jockey skull in the trophy room in AVPR?

I suppose ever since Ridley Scott did the interview with Don Shay for the laserdisc, although there was a bit of Daniken style inspiration in the original Alien script Or did you think Erich was being interviewed, well he wasn't.

It looks like someone has messed around with starwars concept art for general greivous and made a few additions such as the shoulder canon and taken the space jockeys head from a few sketches that were circulating a few months back which some people thought was official space jockey art, but turned out to be some artist just showing a few sketches on his site, i'm gonna call b.s. on this one.

It seems that they're incorporating the back story of the Predators being pirates & hijacking the Space Jockey's technology/weapons hence the shoulder cannon. If so, then its safe to say the Preds also stole Zenomorph eggs from them to utilize as a worthy trophy to hunt.
I'm wondering if the Zenomorph itself is a naturally evolved creature native to the Jockey's home planet or if they genetically engineered them as biological weapons to be like a plague of locusts as their tribes wage war against each other.

Both AVP and AVP-R were joke.
Considering this as being a part of the Alien universe is just... as considering Predator being a part of the King Kong universe (you know... everybody knows that King Kong's family got murdered by Super Predator ::) )
Alien is fine in its universe, predator aswell, and the avp corssover are separated from both so it's fine.
But mixing one into another as real material for the movie is just wrong.
Or maybe you would like to see Harry Potter saving the world from the Alien invasion of Independance day? No?

At first looking at the art piece I was a bit confused...then I thought about it. The Predator cannon is the only part that is 'out-there' from the normal design.
But, does this not fit the idea that the Predator got its tech (reversed-engineered it) from a much more intelligent race? If that is true; then that means the Predator Shouldercannon is a reverse-engineered tech as well. Interestingly this fits very well. Jockies have amazing tech; Preds learn and improve their own tech from them. Then humans reverse-engineer FTL travel from the Preds.
Jockies haven't really been in much to say 'what' is canon for them; except for the overall body look. I think the Shouldercannon is more fitting to them than the Preds imo. (Jockies just don't look like an amazing melee race. I think that one Jockey comic can be ignored)

Because it didn't specifically say the image below was a fake. It sounded like they had a different image up; then replaced it with the proper one after the joke.

You can't openly deny it and swear on the veracity on your claims - that just makes you a douche. Like the majority here, yeah I think the "jockey" was meant to be a joke, but it's still a very interesting concept. I think it actually works in some ways (a believable look) but doesn't in others.(the shouder canon). I like it myself and later created something based on it...
