Hi everyone, I've recently been brainstorming ideas for a new fan film and I thought I'd post the info that I have now, It's hardly much but I'd like to hear what you think of the (basic) story/plot?

Story/Plot (Story is still under debate): A group of Predator's travel to Earth and capture humans from a military group in the jungle which they bring aboard they're ship and take to an uninhabited planet. The Predator's place the unconscious soldiers on the planet and the predators let loose containers of facehuggers after the humans so aliens can be produced. As the facehuggers pick off the soldiers the Predator's observe the humans to see who is worthy and which can survive. However one of the facehuggers was carrying a queen embryo which impregnated one of the humans and throughout the film the alien continues to molt into a queen and the predators must find a way to stop the aliens from over populating and taking over the planet.

I'd actually like to stray away from using any voices for the humans, I typically just prefer subtitles.

Sounds like a decent idea, but after seeing your other stuff, I'd like to ask you something. It's kinda big and it would probably push you the hardest ever, but I think you could pull it off. Will I PM you?
Yeah I deffinitely have my work cut in for me, but after coming back after such a long time and doing a new film I know more techniques and ways to make this film better. I really want to put all my work into this and make it one of the more decent fan films ;)

I really like your other stuff by the way, the fights in perticular were quite good. I liked the way the Predator impales the Alien in AvP: Showdown.

Well to be honest there are some things Im sure you can help with in this film right now, but as to what those things are im not sure of just quite yet but I'll make sure to deffinitely let you know as soon as I do.
*Update on Story/Plot: In replacement of marines in this film, a SWAT team will be the new characters. There will be 8 humans. and the story takes place in 1989.*

I do, but I can't help but admire the work put into the stop motion. It's not easy stuff. If you had stop motion in your film I would admire just as much. :)
It is all stop motion. I don't have a camcorder :P
I like the mix between stop motion and camcorder. A movie thats fully stop motion can be painful to watch sometimes.

Thanks, I still have 3 more I need to put up. Bloodshed: Director's Cut is possibly my best film, as for the Nest War's they were my first so they arn't so good but still fun to watch.
*NOTE: PLASE READ BELOW**I do what I can with the stop motion, its not easy because I have to film each movement with the camcorder and it's not easy to make it smooth, so the movement is SOMEWHAT jerky but I try to make scenes smooth when possible and I dont have any high end programs like Final Cut Pro OR iStopMotion. I WISH >:(. I edit with Windows Movie Maker but I make it work and so that just goes to show my films even though may not be GREAT, are never easy to do, but I take so much time making it the best I can. I might be crazy haha.*

AVP: Nest War (First Fan Film I Made)*NOTE*I could not upload Alien vs. Predator: Bloodshed Director's Cut or AVP: Nest War 2 on youtube because the runtime for both exceed the maximum length upload which is 10min so I will try to figure out a way to upload them somehow but that might take sometime. I have to admit, I'm not really fond of that one ^. I enjoyed Dark Encounter though, it was very entertaining and well made.
Well that was my first film ever so thats understandable, Nest War 2 is similar but different as well....AVP: Bloodshed is probably my best film I'd say so far so anyone interested should PM me & if you want to see Nest War 2 you can do the same.

you might be able to restore or should i say give the avp series some dignity if you made that into a full length film. i can see it now the critics saying hey that wasnt actually a bad movie. imagine avp not being put down. its seems impossible yet it is possible.
Well making a figure film into a full length film will probably make the audience bail on the film and not watch it all just because.
The film will probably be around 30-35min though.

*READ*
Official Story/Plot Outline: In 1989 Los Angeles, a S.W.A.T Team is called to the scene of an explosion downtown and 8 men go and check it out. After looking through the building for anything they discover blood, and one by one they start getting captured mysteriously. Later on it's discovered that a group of predators captured them and brought them to a new dark world and dropped them off. The predators let loose several facehuggers not knowing that one of the facehuggers was a Queen so that aliens can be grown and the predators can hunt them. Throughout the film the humans struggle to stay alive and the predators keep tabs on the humans to see who can survive and who are worthy but the aliens continue to grow so the predators focus on stopping the aliens but have trouble along the way.

Like I just mean the predators captured them and brought them to a new dark planet with nothing on it besides rock, etc., so it's basically just like a planet the humans have never been on and that's never been seen.

Cut it down into 2 parts.
I prefer not to, because if i cut it down it'd have to be in 3 parts. I don't wanna have to cut it up either. I like the viewers to see my films full through.
Pando is only a 4MB program. its really simple to download. and you can get rid of it right after you save the files sent, without losing them.

Off topic but I had those toys when I was a kid lol.
haha yeah. there pretty old, I was just digging through this old toy box trying to find some that might look ok on film and that work well.
I mean this is a figure film, its not like it's real people any other way...But trust me I'm sure anyone who enjoys action, story, special effects, and just an overall well directed film will enjoy watching this. I was very pleased with the final version.
I would like a little more attention brought to this film but I gotta figure out a good way to spread the word. ::)

The official release date is July 11th 2008.
However the release date for the forum will be delayed, How long? I'm not sure.
I will still regularly post new facts, news, etc. whenever I can before I release it....The more I see attention brought to the film the harder I'll work to get the film online.
Why have you stopped working on your script?
I keep meaning to do it then something else comes up. i am still trying to get round to finnishing.
You just have to power on through it in like a day, thats what I did with my film...I literally did 5-8hours of filming straight...a lot was cut out of the final version.

Ha, thanks. I hardly showed anything in the trailer, theres a lot more to see in the actual film. So if you thought that was good, because I thought I did an average job on the trailer, the actual film should be a fun entertaining film for sure. ;)

That's a pretty good trailer there. The stop motion is made of enough frames to be better than some stuff on the net, the sound editing is pretty good, and aside from one typo the trailer was done pretty well considering you're stuck using windows movie maker. I'm actually pretty picky as far as figure films go, but this looks good.

Yeah I think I know what spelling mistake your talking about haha, I made the trailer in like 10min and all the sounds you hear arn't the same in the movie, like it has the same sounds but not in those exact scenes.
I didn't show much in the trailer, theres much better footage...and I don't believe theres any spelling errors in the movie ;D
-Your trailers look decent, I prefer to see more stop motion and less hand held shots of the humans, predators and aliens...I personally just think doing stop motion right in fight scenes makes them better. The looks of your trailers, like lighting and effects look good.
So... when is the release date for Dark World again?

Yeah, most people don't like figure films and to tell you the truth I can see why, most figure films are terrible. The fight scenes look like people just threw the toys around, they're hands are seen every 5 seconds and it's like um ok...But in all my films I always do everything I can NOT TO SHOW MY HANDS, and sometimes if it means re-filming so be it. >:( ;D haha

I got your second pm and i watched the trailer and your other videos on your you tube channel and i am very impressed because i couldn't make a movies like yours because i don't have the skill or the patience. The dvd cover looks cool and very official with the running time, the rating and the dvd thing. Overall i cant wait till it comes out and i hope you release it on you tube. p.s. Yeah I tried working with it in photoshop but my brother and I weren't able to make it look quite like the movies (we will work on it though)....but the good news is i agree with you and the cloaked predator figure is in only 2 shots.............(There might be some modifications such as SFX, scenes, etc. for a re-release of the film...Maybe) ;)

its easy but gives work, and of course colin does it 10 thousand better :P i cant do it like p1, but i can do it good enough for figs
1 - film the shot where pred appears without the pred
2 - film the pred doing whatever u want him to do cloacked, preferably in an empty background
3 - divide all that in frames to edit 1 by 1...
4 - delete background in pred filming, select the transparency and save it
5 - open the film frame, load the transparency
6 - mess aroudn with the filters in distort section till u get something u like, and memorize what u did so u do it same way in all frames :P
7 - join frames into movie again.....movie maker premier, whatever u use!
now...colin makes that awesome cloacking like the dillon scene in p1....dont expect that!

Technicaly, the whole thing, trailers and all is unrated. All you can do is put disclaimers about the violence, not actually give it a rating. ;) Still, a cool second trailer. Lighting is good. Sets look better than most figure films I've seen.

Well techinically I have completed the original film and I have rated it R...So that's why I gave the film 2 trailers, one being the green band and the other being the red band trailer.
So now that I have finished, I'm adding more scenes and since they arn't in the original film I never rated them. That's just why I'm making the unrated version.
I just watched the second trailer and in my opinion it is a alot better than the first, it has more action,more shots of both the alien and predator and a few more special effects like the burst victim. You've done great job and like i said before i cant wait till it comes out ;D

Well that actually has been done, alien 3 had the queen facehugger and I suppose the facehugger that got scar in AVP was a queen as well. ;)

I didn't mean a super queen facehugger that has two embryos i meantand a regular facehugger that has one queen embryo and the predalien might not even be a queen and the only reason it can impregnate is because of the predators d.n.a. But if its not a facehugger with a queen could it be that one of the first aliens molts in to a queen out of necessity? ;D
Oh yeah the queen facehugger did have two embryos in Alien 3 and in AVPR the predator d.n.a is a possibility but the strause brothers said that it was supposed to be a queen.

WOAH. Review time.
Well, it was an awesome film. I'm kinda speechless. Well 4/5 stars I'd give it (no film is perfect after all ;)).
I liked the way it was filmed, the mix between stop motion and recording really fit the film well. The 1st person Predator view was excellent. No hands, earns it an extra star :D
Characters were cool, how did they get on the Predator ship? How many Aliens were there? It seemed like a lot because either there was a lot or PatrinAVP11 filmed each Alien differently so it looked like a different one. The Predators were great, what happened to the Celtic Predator btw?
The music was great. I liked trying to guess which film which part of music was from :D The music fit really well.
I liked the dialogue as well. It wasn't cheesy (AvPR I'm looking at you) and it made sense.
Overall I think I am going to have to work insanely hard and have a lot of patience to make my film the quality of yours. 4/5 stars :)

The visuals beat the crap out of most figure films. The lighting is pretty awesome once the movie moves to the other planet. The plot, while somewhat simple, is original, and abviously took more to come up with than most figure films. I asked myself "WTF" when there seemed to be so many more aliens than there were hosts though.
The stop motion had enough frames to work most of the time, it got jumpy sometimes, but not bad considering how hard stop motion is. You definately used WMM and MS Paint as best as they can be used. The ending is just what one would expect from an AVP fan film, but I can't see any other way it could have gone down. (Not going to ruin it for the people that haven't seen it yet.)
Overall, not bad. I give it 3.7/5
Only 3.7? That's harsh IMO.
Harsh? There are only 2 figure movies in existence I give a higher rating than that. Just like I hoped, this one is one of my favorite figure films... ever.

Your clearly very talented and have alot of passion in creating your own AVP world. You did the best with what you had, which is why I give you credit for alot of things. It seemed pretty complex and I really like how you did the fight scenes lol. The Part where the Predator uses his plasma gun was awesome and the part where the face huggers crawl into that small cave was creepy.
I just wish someone as talented as you had better equipment and props to work with so could really pull off the effects you really want. The characters were cool and I wouldn't mind seeing the same story you created in a AVP film someday. The cloaked Predator shots were very well done and the sound effects were a nice touch. Good job, I can tell you worked hard on it. Your movie had a better story than anything Shane Salerno could come up with, your movie had better visuals than anything AVP-R had and your movie was more fun.
Why on earth aren't you rich? It's a crime. Can I work with you on the next one? Pretty please ;D

Well there are 8 humans in the film, 7 of which are used as hosts for aliens. I know it felt like there was many aliens, but it just appeared that way to make them feel more surrounding and deadly as a group if you know what I mean. But there isn't to many aliens.
I'm starting it... for the unrated, can you change the still images? Maybe make them bigger and move or something? They seem static.

No. The opening shots- the title, with obvious photo grain, and the planet.
Well the title shot or whatever maybe, but as for the planet shot with the opening credits I can't do anything.
I'm pretty impressed with this. You done a good job of the lighting and the overall pace and camera work. Some shots were a bit dodgy and left me thinking "What just happend?" but it's all good in the end. The dialouge while few and far between was decent which makes a change from other figure films I've seen. I liked the first attack by the Predator (especially the net gun shot) and the Alien attack on the rest of the guys. As with all films there are some stuff that bothers me. Like when the Captain died I sort of saw it coming. Since he got most of the dialouge I thought to myself "He's gonna get nabbed before the others". Also Alien's can see Predators even when they're clocked. I thought the ending was a bit cliche because a lot of films end in that way.
Overall a very decent film though. You clearly put hard work into it and it shows. I'd say it's my 2nd favourite film from you but it's a lot better than some others. Good job man. ;)

Yeah that was them coming out the other side, the predator let them loose from the ship and they just sorta crawled into a structure/tunnel on the ship and came out the other side and got off the ship.
Judging by what everyone else has been saying this should be good. I'll take a look when the DL finishes.

1) Well the predator was able to escape because the praetorian and the other aliens were just trying to build up the hive, they weren't ready to head out and go capture hosts until a little later. So the aliens didn't bother chasing the predator because they wanted to protect the praetorian and keep her alive and I'm sure any predator could escape from just a few aliens if it really had to.
2) Well you should check out my other films because in my others, the scar predator never is the main predator. My films such as AVP: Dark Encounter (Chopper was the main predator), AVP: Bloodshed Director's Cut (Celtic was the only predator), AVP: Nest War (Chopper was the main predator). But I do see your point.

^Including the stuff with the space ship flying to/from planets? Honestly that was the only effect that seemed to bug me. If it had more frames it would work better. All the other effects seemed okay considering what you had to work with.
What confuses me:
How did these guys let you get away with pulling a wolf on an alien's neck?

There wasn't much more I could do about the space ship shots. I almost considered not having them because it was hard to make them look perfect. But they did surpass my last work with space ships so I was proud about that, because they were better then my last ones. But not much more I could besides that. :P
I do still like them though ;D

I know. I chose not to mention this because if I did I probably wouldn't friendly with Patrin anymore. :) Lets just say that I don't like that kill

Yeah, I knew that kill would cause controversy. I was just trying to set-up the final scene sort of thing...Like I needed the predator to have a badass moment like that and just kill an alien with ease because the very next alien he fought was the queen, which he got pretty wasted by. Sure I could of done something else but I didn't, I stuck with it, I figured it was cool. Some aliens gotta go out like bitches haha.
So how about next time, you have a predator get his legs broken by an alien so he can't run away. Then he gets eaten by a chestburster, slowly and painfully.
LMAO. He'd need to break apart his figures to do that XD

fnally someone used bursters in a movie and decent human story, there were some really nice details.... and finally a self destruct scene....net gun scene.....some rally innovative stuff for a fig film
only complains is that the FX could be better :P the vision was particullary annoying for me
also, the stop motion was really good, still there was too much of it! try to film more stuff,

Well like I said, there's a lot of changes in the Unrated Version. Not everything is different, scenes arn't neccesarily changed in how they start or end. There's just extra material/more footage and a lot better special effects.
So when I release it and you all watch it, you'll notice the changes I'm sure ;)
When is the Unrated release date?

I don't know the release date yet of the unrated version, it might be a little awhile to honest :-\
The title of the topic is still the same because I still want to let everyone know the theatrical version is still released. As soon as I decide on the unrated release date then I'll change it probably.

:D That's a pretty interesting phrase... anyway, I'm pretty excited to see this with improved effects.
I was going to fix a few scenes and add different settings to each scene to make it that much more different but when I tried re-filming more B roll it didn't match up so well with the original footage and looked too different, so there were some things I wanted to change but I couldn't :-\

I watched the AVP Dark World Awesomely Bloodtastically Goreified Version. It was brilliant. The edited blood looked believeable and 3-D like it was acctually there. I enjoyed it more second time round. Oh are the first two scenes where Jeff is late and the Predator on the homeworld new?
They were new I think. Also, Celtic getting facehugged might have been new??? Anyway, the new effects (especialy the cloaking) were very much improved. Nice work. And the extra character stuff when Jeff is late was pretty good. Also, I love how Mark's death is so similar to Dillon's in A3.

yeah that scene was an extra, and yeah thanks for the comment on the scene with Mark's death. I really was going for that Alien3 scene in the movie, so I wanted to see if anyone caught that? ;)

That was very good actually. It really shows something when a stop-motion toy AVP fan film is better than SEED, which had a budget. Nice job.
I hope that WHEN I finally finish my script and begin to film I am hoping that it will look as good as Dark World.

Well i don't really have much practice with CG, but i have used a program called blender to work with some of that. But no i doubt ill create an entire film made with CG, perhaps a few scenes in space but thats it.
