If he is directing another, can we all pool together the money for a Sunset Boulevard billboard that says "RIDLEY, DON'T MAKE DAVID THE SPACE JOCKEY"?

I think this is just Scott confirming Asbel that he will be producing Romulus 2 since that article was all about him producing shows and films. However, Fede already mentioned on The Wrap article he wanted to close the prequels in a big way with this Romulus sequel so either we see David again and join Rain and Andy or the Corbelan comes under grief and land on the actual main Alien/engineer homeworld we've been wanting to see for ages. I'm interested to see how Fede pulls this off.

We don't really see that, though. The security chip with its protocols and priorities could be swapped, but Andy was still Andy, he didn't become Rook.

Sadly my guess would be this is just Romulus 2. I think odds are pretty high on a David return however.

I've always reasoned David uploaded into Walter rather than just mimicking his look.
So there is possibility to be ubiquitous or David has the Skelton keys at least to the Muthr mainframe.
Therefore think it's possible then David could be the space jockey (or a synthetic under his influence) but his consciousness is living on

I didn't get that vibe at all from Romulus. I feel like that would be a bit lame and oversimplify things. I like the interiority and personalities each synthetic has - making them just 1 and 0s that can be copy and pasted  with a usb gets rid of a lot of ambiguity.

If Romulus 2 has to follow the same cast and develop the story further with the prequels then I would really like to see Rain and Andy stumble upon the abandoned Covenant, and we can see what happened with David and all his colonists he could experiment on.

I had an idea for a fan story of the son of one of the covenant passengers becoming rich and using a drone to scan the region of the universe where the covenant was last seen in hopes to find his missing father and then hiring a rugged crew to take him there. Once they got there they find the covenant abandoned in orbit around a planet but clearly signs of something going wrong. Which leads them to track a shuttle that departed the covenant and is down on the surface. When the crew goes down to the planet below they discover an ancient civilizations ruins, using a lot of the ALIEN concept art from Giger and the Egg Silos. They go inside one of the silos and find the skeletal remains of the passengers all laid out ritualistically, with a torn to shreds David at the center. The android they have with them plugs into David's memory and is able to see his findings. This is where we see a flashback sequence of David doing his experiments and going to the planet to study the Engineers/Jockeys. In this sequence we have David admit his 'protomorph' was based off the engineer blue prints, we see the engineers modeled their equipment and came to learn everything they knew from the Space Jockeys. We learn of the different strains of the black goo, and how the Jockeys were using it to seed worlds long before engineers but as their species was dying out they wanted to pass that knowledge onto their "children". Anyways, the crew stumbles deeper into the ruins and finds an underground city but the Aliens David created awaken and attack the crew, eventually it would lead to a boss battle where we get to see an Ultramorph emerge from its slumber (from one of the space jockeys). Had this cool imagery in mind of it blending in like a statue in the background and then it begins to move and all the normal 'aliens' slowly begin retreating even though they have the crew surrounded, and the crew doesn't notice the ultramorph getting ready to strike in the background.

Anyways not sure how I got on that tangent but figured I'd share  probably would have been better posted in the fan section

I know the most likely thing is he's talking about Alien: Romulus 2, but I would love it if Ridley directed a new Alien movie, no matter the quality. He would have a chance to wrap up the David 8 strain of movies in a satisfying way and it would reinforce the multiplicity of story threads.

I imagine people who didn't look at this franchise in decades, going back to it and discovering there's now FIVE interconnected audiovisual threads:

GOD. What a time to be alive.  :D

Same. A great villain whether one likes the prequels or not. I'd love to see the trilogy get completed but I'm not getting ahead of myself.

Given Romulus' level of technology, we can assume that Ripley, Hicks and Newt from Alien 3 were 3D printed clones. The whole story is just a WY experiment.

Oh god please be a conclusion to the David saga

I hope so, but it is realistic to think than he is talking about Romulus II.

The article talks about Scott as a producer, not a director.
As a director he only says that his next one is about the music group.
But the entire article is about Scott productions.

Yes , please, Mr Scott , it's time to finish the Prometheus trilogy. Some flash back   Some explanation on the deacon . Some details on Shaw- David " relationship " and a crazy ending- connection with the masterpiece; Alien.  Don't loose your time on a 2 or 5 or 14 Romulus "movie". Romulus between Alien and Aliens .......seriously!!!

keep ridley far away from the franchise

Acid for Blood

Yeah I kind of interpret this as him simply producing the next instalment but if he wants to have a crack at directing another prequel along side a Romulus sequel, I'm all for it!

That quote from FA has definitely been on my mind. How would he fold the David arc into the Rain/Andy arc? Could be any number of ways to do it, it's going to be interesting no matter what happens.
