That's great work. And the subtitles, that's great. They can be translated into different languages. Alien Romulus starts in 7 days, is there any chance of the films being released at the same time as Romulus? It would be great to leave the cinema and continue at home with Prometheus and Covenant in ninth circle editions. Thanks for your work GrimmVision!!!

Hello, a quick update!

Currently, I'm not going to be able to get these new cuts out in time for Romulus next week like I hoped. I drastically underestimated how busy I'd actually be this summer, so I apologize for the delay. Just know I'm still chipping away at both prequels and planning for a release in the near future.

Check back here now and then to see if there's been an update.
Thanks again for your patience and support :)

Hey man, great work on the Ninth Circle edition on Covenant. Do you plan on uploading them as a torrent file? or would you be ok with someone else uploading them as torrent?

Quote from: GrimmVision on Apr 27, 2024, 02:00:57 PMI may try to add the creation of Walter to Covenant's opening, a bit like how Evanus did. Not sure yet.

That's a change I've always wanted to see. The creation was beautiful.

Quote from: GrimmVision on Apr 27, 2024, 02:00:57 PMWeyland's TED Talk is likely staying at the beginning but I'm unsure of The Quiet Eye viral. I may try to fit it in elsewhere. Maybe when Shaw is in front of the mirror in her room post-op and finding out Weyland is still alive. There's two distinct already-in-the-films cuts I could squeeze it into!

If you keep Quiet Eye, you probably don't need the intro scene in Scotland. We get that information and introduction to Shaw twice. I do like Quiet Eye and the Mars shot.

I like the flare being dropped into the pit. Don't listen to Aaron

The crew interviews at the beginning could be trimmed; it's like ten minutes of runtime. I watched your Covenant with friends and the only part that lagged was the very end; there were like three stingers where it felt like the credits would roll but David kept talking. My friend kept standing up and sitting down.

I still have the old versions and will be keen to see what changes you make. They're the only versions of the films I watch these days.

Hey @GrimmVision , glad to hear you're back working on these. I thought your Covenant Ninth Circle Edition was great and the best 'comprehensive' version of the film. I know everyone has their own ideas on how Prometheus should be done, I want to suggest though using the original lone Engineer opening as opposed to the alternate version where many Engineers suddenly disappear out of frame and a ship basically leaves them behind. The lone engineer scene is much eerier and showing multiple Engineers left on the planet really adds nothing to the movie in my opinion. I would also advise resisting the temptation to add the David intro scene from Covenant, it belongs to a different movie and most people will probably watch your edit back to back with Covenant and end up seeing the scene twice. Just my opinions, I look forward to seeing whatever you decide in the final edit though. Thanks

hello to you and thank you very much for your hard work in attempt to revive these 2 unloved films.
I've never had the opportunity to see your chaos editions, until now, but I'm currently doing an Alien marathon, and I told myself that your project would come at the right time to try to make me like Covenant.
I'm French, I don't know to what extent this would be possible, but I would love you to include subtitles for my understanding.
if it's possible in French in addition to English ones (at least)
I wish you lots of courage for this project which must require many hours of work and which I am impatient to discover

I spent so long trying to obtain your original edits a few years ago, I'm excited to have better versions more easily accessible (with subtitles!). Trying to get my Alien fan friends to jump through complex hoops on sketchy looking websites to get the old versions was a hard sell but they're very interested in watching them.

These are still my favourite fan edited versions of the movies, looking forward to the new ones, regardless of when they're done.

Look for this in Google:

Alien.Black.Liquid.UPSCALE.4K.Extended.Fanedit.60fps.AAC.5.1

Prometheus and Covenant in one film together with all bonuses. 46.1 GB with super Picture - 60fps.

Please make sure it doesn't have that 24/23.94fps discrepancy that caused that framerate hitch every second or so on the original chaos edition, I tried (unsuccessfully) reencoding it to 23.94fps or whatever I was so annoyed by it

Also make sure to test it on multiple sound setups. I had a thing where it sounded fine on headphones but all the voices only came out of the right speaker on my actual TV setup. Some of the deleted scenes were much more quiet than the average scenes on the TV speakers as well

I would move David's transmission from the end of covenant to being an after-credits scene, as I think David's victory should be left to stew in our brains.

I think quiet eye works better at the start of the film, but I also think it makes weyland seem more presumptuous.
Weyland says "you convinced me that if these things made us, then surely they could save us". If we've seen quiet eye, we know she didn't say anything to even hint at the "save us" part, unless it was on another one of the many messages she sent.
putting it right before david talks to him might make it too obvious who "he" is when david and vickers talk about "him"

EDIT: I'd say keep the neomorph crawling up, since we don't get enough of him. but i've got an idea: move it earlier to right before david and walter's first talk around the 1:01:00 mark (in the theatrical cut). It would create a fakeout in the next shot walking down the hallway and imply the neomorph is watching, adding tension during all the scenes at david's place, especially when david is revealed

Firstly, really appreciate your work and dedication to these movies (Prometheus and Alien Covenant) and also that of James Rivers (aka Jimmy Delaroja) whos workprint seemed to be the starting point for fan edits of these movies unless i'm mistaken.

I have posted this in the other 'thread' about the Chaos editions, however after seeing Aliens Romulus recently I've decided to give Prometheus and Alien Covenant another watch, but I'm interested in experiencing the 'fan edits' of Prometheus and Alien Covenant if they are still around somewhere as there looks to be a lot of positive feedback on these when compared with the original movies which i have on Bluray.

I'd really appreciate if someone could share the details on these or PM me as to where they can be located?

Once again, really appreciate the work that is still ongoing to improve the viewing experience of those movies for us alien fans.

Thanks again :)

This is new work with all bonus material. There are no closing and opening credits between the films Prometheus and Covenant, but the films follow each other seamlessly.
