Not sure if this has been asked before but I've become confused about the Warrior design. It seems some pictures of the Warrior has 'normal' arms

But then other designs has these weird extra fin things on the fore arms

Can anyone shed light on what this is all about? What's the 'official' design where did they come from etc?

The official design has the exaggerated fin/arm blades. They're just the elbow spike from the original ramped up to 11.

How come some had them some didn't though? Only pics I can find of a Warrior having them is the one who comes out the water and grabs Newt, all the others don't seem to have them

Because the suits in the movie were often thrown together for whatever suited a particular stunt the best. Some have the fifth dorsal spike, for example, others don't.

The official intended design has the blades.

Just tell yourself these Aliens are different ages, are individuals, with different rates of development, with little differences here and there.

Pretty much this, could simply be development differences. Maybe they are the oldest Aliens in the hive.

You can see the blades quite a few times throughout the movie, but you never really get lingering shots of the Aliens. The Aliens in the roof have a mix for example, and one Alien even seems to have a blade on one arm but not the other.

It's stuff like this that makes the aliens franchise so compelling. There are so many variations of them even within the one movie...eg aliens.

The alien warriors generally seen with the fins are considered older versions and I'd imagine some might have 2 and others just 1.

I'd love someone to do an official guide to a typical alien hive, detailing everything from the queen downwards and looking at variations etc. I'd love that.

I would say the fins are either armor or a weapon
