I don't hate the prequels, but I don't like that David is so involved in the origin of the xenomorphs.

On the contrary, the most divisive part was the goo monster. Audience seemed like it could happily do without it.

Quote from: [cancerblack] on Jun 22, 2025, 10:02:19 PMSo you're saying the general audience doesn't mind at all when there's heavy use of prequel content, but it would be completely the wrong way to go to continue using it? Okay...

I'm saying the prequels were probably not or only vaguely on their minds. There is a lab there with alien stuff going on, that's it. Could have been anything. The prequels are based on bad ideas and the movies themselves are not memorable and poorly done.

I mean for the last 13 years they've been pretty front and centre in everything Alien related... games, comics, novels, the RPG, you name it. I like the movies but I'm totally cool with those ideas being on the back burner for a minute.

I think heavy use is a bit generous, if they removed the exposition hologram the movie would pretty much be exactly the same. It's there for people who know, but if you don't know you wouldn't think twice about it.

The goo and Offspring are introduced quite late in the story and frankly the movie would work well enough without it.

I'd be so much happier with Romulus if it wasn't for the Offspring...

Corporal Hicks

I absolutely love the Offspring. It's the creepiest Alien has been for a long time. One of the reasons I enjoy Romulus so much is the reconciliation of the lore elements into the "mainline".

It would not.

Which only goes to show how terrible it is to follow the audience's whims. They supported the horrendous "Bitch" quote and they don't even like the Offspring, aka the best part of the movie.

Oh, so if the audience liked the goo, we should abandon it?

Never abandon the goo.

The goo as never been one of the problem I have with the prequels.

Ditch it immediately

Nightmare Asylum

My audience was incredibly receptive to the Offspring, for whatever that is worth on the goo front.

Goo's cool.

Maybe the real Goo was the Xenomorphs XX121 we made along the way.
