that is my biggest objection to such films that are supposed to show backstories but suddenly have much better equipment than what comes later.
Scott simply didn't care and of course wanted to offer something new.
Fede kindly tried to explain it by saying that the equipment from Prometheus is used directly by Weyland and his expedition, while the Nostromo crew only represents the small working class.
The Prometheus is Weyland's flagship, so to speak, while the Nostromo is just a small tow truck.
But that still doesn't really fit together for me.
It makes no sense for a company to deliberately equip its workers with inferior equipment.
That would automatically mean a certain inefficiency for the company.
It didn't really work for me in the Star Wars prequels either, and even then it could have been excused by saying that after the Clone Wars everything was in the trash and they had to reinvent themselves again.
Romulus did a very good job and I felt like I was back in the familiar alien world.
It's nice to see that Alien Earth is going in the same direction,
but I'm afraid there will be problems with the plot.
