The most flagrant exemple of this being done before is Jeunet's Resurrection. But Cameron's Aliens and Fincher's Alien 3 also qualifies perfectly.

Covenant has a few callbacks, but they're well-executed and work well in context. Katherine Waterston's "I got you, you son of a bitch!" is the absolute standout - I nearly always punch the air when she says it.

Actually, hold the "nearly".
