Sevastopol

Watched Prometheus and Covenant again after a long time. The big themes that these movies tackle are still really interesting and the visuals are still stunning. I just can't get over the feeling that these movies feel a bit too pristine aesthetics wise. Everything's bit too clean and  don't look like a part of the Alien universe.

And then the black goo. The fix for me would have been that the engineers collected the black goo from Xenomorphs. But then an outbreak would have happened and the Xenos would've slaughtered the engineers in the caves. And when the Prometheus crew arrive, they would have faced them in the caves. Missed opportunity.

David is a great villain, but other characters very hit and miss. Big downside for both of the movies. I'd be down to see a movie that completes David's journey.

Well, the Prometheus and the Covenant are new ships, so they'd be quite shiny. All of the vessels in the other movies have been around for a while.

Plus, the Prometheus is Weyland's personal starship, so it stands to reason that it and everything aboard would be glammed up to the nines. I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetic, but I can see why it was used.

Covenant, on the other hand, looks a lot more like Alien but, like in Prometheus, it's all state-of-the-art stuff built for an important mission and it's never been used.

Yeah that makes sense and it's not even the technology that gives me that feeling but more like how everything's lit. It doesn't feel dark enough. In the engineers cave the aesthetic is bang on and I'm fully immersed again.

I really appreciate the idea that the company owner flies with the most technology advanced thing out there and then the industry workers have their beat up ships.

Yeah that's the way I always viewed it as well.
