Is the original Predator from 1987 anybody else's favourite film of all time?

I prefer the old look too. But it probably wouldn't make much sense for the predator to have this older tech in Badlands for example, considering it's in the future.

Yeah and logically I can get behind that, I think I was just speaking generally regarding everything we have had in film since then.

But I feel like it makes less sense to have it mirror human vision and clarity. 

When they're doing other things (not hunting humans on earth) maybe that thermal sees better and is more practical then when they're hunting

As I stated in another thread:

I watch Predator on my every birthday for at least a decade and few times a year on different occasions. I usually watch it as a double feature with Predator 2, with Predators and AvP following in next days. Predator and Predator 2 are my two favorite films, to the point I can decide which one I like better. Can`t wait for the day my kids are old enough to show it to them. If it will only be possible, I`ll be watching Predator on my dying day.

Predator is a god-damned certified master piece of entertainment. What is this "blah blah" about things not holding up? The cgi fest is the failing in holding up more than the man in a rubber suit.

The original Predator is for me the greatest action film ever made. Better than Die Hard, better than any of the Rambo - it's the absolute, ultimate action film with a fantastic cast, brilliant antagonist and the most testosterone loaded machoism put to celluloid. Lightning in a bottle.

1) They have FTL space flight, their tech is already as good as they want it to be for any given situation.

2) Time dilation, from the FTL travel, means how fast they would advance relative to how fast we do, even if they were still advancing, would mean it'd be about how far the individual predator travelled to earth, not when it arrived here.

I think the subtitles took such deep root in my brain that I have forgotten everything around them.

Great points - would love for this to warrant a return to those classic fx we commented about earlier.
