But what you eluded to as well was the final scene just didn't feel grounded and super heroish. I just feel like there were better alternatives to make it feel like a more appropriate final fight sequence while respecting both characters attributes.

Biggest thing for me is hands down the Winston design as well

Yeah well said, agreed there were many options for a different finale approach that they could have went with.

And the Winston design was my biggest caveat as well.

Quote from: SiL on Oct 23, 2024, 05:03:37 AMBecause it usually comes with Predators not knowing how to repair their own technology, because it's not theirs.

I didn't like the implication from the Isabelle tapes either. It was fine where it was at pre-Isabelle tapes. It also doesn't make sense either as logistically speaking, who is creating and refining new technology? The Amengi were already wiped out, so having another alien race made to learn and make it also makes no sense. They would just have stolen it from the Predators and turned it on them. It was one of the weakest points in the game's writing and I'm glad to ignore it, especially since it was just a theory anyway. I also like to think the Super Predator clan themselves are just stupid, and Isabelle made the mistake to cover the entire Predator race as that.

Nightmare Asylum

I have literally no idea what an Amengi is but I've always been fond of the idea of the Predators having some sort of slave race (in my head I always imagine them as being insect-like, not humanoid in the slightest) that they force to make their tech (and do all of their labor and what have you) for them while the Predators go off and dick around on their hunts.

Actually not far off of what you mentioned, originally the Predator design was supposed to look like this before we got what we know now:

Illfonic made the cool idea of reutilizing this design into official Predator lore as the former masters of the Predator race before they rebelled. In one of the Predator novels, Forever Midnight, the Amengi were actually used as slaves to make and maintain their tech. Not a popular novel to the Predator fanbase for various other reasons, but it does touches upon what you mentioned.

But why settle for such an interesting and potentially mysterious creature to expand the lore in a good way when we already got these?

I love predator, well I guess I love the movie because for me this is a lot. I'm under the belief that the mystery of predator gives cadence to his character and his superiority.

I'm sure it's all fun in the books and comics to expand upon Predator lore but I prefer when it comes to film things stay clouded in mystery allowing the audience to speculate and explore.

We had the vicious and visually great looking Predator hounds from the film before that, and somehow discarded that for this.... :'( Just an alien bulldog with a Predator head with dreadlocks on it, like come on man  :-\

Haha so true, it's actually embarrassing how lazy and ridiculous that design was. Considering how terrible the movie was I am not surprised.

Preydator

Whoever thought it was a good idea to put dreads on those damn dogs... should be sent to the Game Preserve Planet from Predators.
