Predator: Badlands...Stealthy AvP setup?

Well it seems even the universe of Predator has to be degraded by the horrible conceptualization of Scott's prequels as it will be tied to Romulus as an AVP thing. Yuck. Can't escape it i guess. Hope Badlands will have no references at all to stave off those bad memories of creator androids and humanoid engineers (utterly banal). Alien Earth remains though.

Agreed, they would be. If they were to add WeyYu androids in Badlands or in a future AvP film - I think I would enjoy watching a Predator hunt down and collect a WY trophy..

We need more solid Predator standalone films before diving back into AvP. Prey was awesome, so let's see what Badlands brings first.

*In fairness to Anderson, I have mentioned I do kinda like Event Horizon, one of his early films, and some of his Resident Evil films are somewhat watchable and even entertaining if you are in a certain mood, but that's the most generous compliment I will give him. An AVP film was clearly not suitable for a Hollywood B movie director like him to take on.

I cannot see how anyone who is a Resident Evil/Biohazard fan could watch those horrible movies, to me those movies are not Resident Evil and should be renamed to Anderson's original movie title "The Undead" or my nickname for them "Alice in Zombieland"

As for Predator: Badlands setting up for an AVP movie. Hopefully it doesn't suck like AVP 2004. I like the idea of an AVP unifying Alien and Predator canons just not that film. The new AVP movie must make Prometheus and Covenant canon and ignore AVP'04, AVPR (although I do like the Predalien and the idea she was a praetorian), and The Predator.

Sure, you are entitled to feel that way. I meant as some kind of generic sci-fi horror B movie, it was sort of watchable, but it shouldn't be called "Resident Evil" if it diverged so much from the source material.

I agree. Even with my unconditional love for Alien 3, I think the aesthetics from that movie would not fit another type of story.

This might be a tinfoil hat take, but what if the 'Planet of Hurt' from Badlands is actually one of the planets the Maginot from Alien: Earth visits to collect non-xenomorph alien specimens? Maybe they're the ones to drop off Thia. After all, they did sample the Predator's clicking in two of the Earth teasers.
