To me it depends on if Fed is truly taking all his cues from Scott or not. If he can separate it, and we don't have Scott telling fed that Preds are David experiments that found a a bend in space time to evolve before the Aliens were created, I might give it a chance.
If its just this guy listening to every stupid thing scott tells him, then no.
AvP at this point works better with no contact with the other movies imo. Its own seperate universe.
