Okay, let's get back on topic.
While I'm personally more of a fan of Alien, and Alien: Romulus has good writing, stellar art direction and impeccable atmosphere, I found Prey better.
Why? Well, it's more creative, for a start. It shows us an era we never saw before in the franchise, and doesn't rely on old characters. It also dares to radically change an emblematic creature design, providing a bold new take with Feral.
It almost (sadly, only
almost) doesn't quote previous movies needlessly.
The characters are more solid, the dialogue more natural and less automatic.
In addition to that, unlike Alien: Romulus, Prey doesn't use automated plagiarism softwares ("generative AI") for special effects, which makes the production more ethical. Not to mention the respect the production gave to the Comanche Nation.
I wish other movies in both franchises dared to be as dignified and audacious as Prey.
