I read a new report where the new film will have Jason's father Elias in it. They also mention the story (which seems overcooked) and a possible title.

I mixed that they canned this sequel. I want a part 13 so they can finally finish it and call it a day, but at the same time I really haven't liked the approaches that PD have come up with including this latest take. I love the idea of having Jason's father in it, but what they had in mind was to overstuffed.

I wish they would get the female survivors of the earlier films and have them finally put Jason to rest. I'd love to see Amy Steel comeback.

I love that trailer. I wish Jason would've gotten a chrome hockey mask like that.

I think this is a blessing in disguise. The idea of Jason needing a backstory origin and introducing a father just reeks of bottom of the barrel for ideas and would only make Jason more ridiculous in trying to explain his supernatural abilities. The remake got it right by having Jason be the brutal killer in the woods he was always known for, and didn't try to make him pitiable or heroic. Maybe once Jason goes back to New Line they'll have fresh ideas for him.

Yeah, but the studio was probably walking on egg shells with this project anyway to cancel it so quickly.

Having Jason father in a movie could be interesting, of course he was never relevant in the series since he was just a guy that avoided child support by running after Pamela got pregnant. Maybe they could make him wanting to meet Jason or Jason wanting revenge.

I mean at least it would be different from the rest, I'm suprised the 2009 remake havent got a sequel already, it seemed to go quite well for a slasher movie, I remember only a few months after its release they were already talks about a sequel. It was the best remake out of the big 3 slasher franchises (Halloween, Nightmare on Elm street) and it had one of the best Jason versions.

But it seems they stopped caring about this franchise.

What would showing Jason's father really accomplish. It would be the same shit we saw in Rob Zombie's Halloween. Some degenerate dirtbag who is probably a drunk who never loved his son who would most likely get murdered by Pamela.

Dont know, it would make it more unique than the average "Jason kills a bunch of teenagers having unprotected sex" thing.

Maybe he left Pamela because she was well... crazy even back then, maybe he was ashamed when Jason was born due to his apperance so he ran or maybe he didnt even knew she was pregnant at all. Maybe he just found out what happened since then and wants to help/stop his son.

It would be interesting how Jason would react to it, he loves his family... well his mom anyway. Unlike Freddy or Michael Myers who don't care about their parents and would kill them without remorse(I dont count Rob's remake), Jason is the only one who was always shown capable of loving. It would put the character in a situation we never seen before, we dont even know if Jason know what a father is.

I doubt his mom ever explained how having a kid works, she probally teached that sex was evil but she never went so far, even the concept of a father is unknown to him. If his father started to explain who he is and his relation with Pamela, Jason would probally freeze without knowing how to process the information.
