You don't have to sell it to me.

We could actually have proper profanity again, is the answer to that.

They were deliberately avoiding profanity at Dark Horse. They even make a joke about it in Life & Death.

And proper art, and a proper colour pallet.

These marvel comics are just the worst.
The art in the first two volumes was just insulting.
Icarus was slightly better but there's something about it that I can't put my finger on it and it just doesn't work for me.
What if can just f**k off.
I've not even entertained Paradiso, one look at its colours and I just noped the f**k out. That alien vision makes me sick.
Thaw was alright, bonus points for the inclusion of Weyland Yutani commandos, even if they were twats.
Descendant was just shite, though the flash back panels art is not bad.
Was that one at Harley's hope with the ice alien marvel...I can't remember but seriously what the f**k. Makes Aliens: lovesick look like the Citizen Kane of the E.U.
The art for Aliens vs Avengers looks absolutely on point. My only problem with it is the avengers. It's just not my bag baby.

The standout is Alien: Black, white and Blood. That feels like the Dark Horse comics of old. I loved most of the stories. Utopia is really really good, some of the images in it are genuinely captivating, the tone of it just worked and the aliens looked great in some of the panels. I need more of that.

Nearly everything in Black, White and Blood other than Utopia was forgettable.

It mostly was, cause the shorter stories didn't have enough room to breathe, but most weren't outright bad IMO and the anthology was worth it for Utopia alone.

For me it looks too chromed and typically futuristic; it lacks that used-future feel. Plus, Steel Team look like discount Marvel heroes - the aesthetic on the cover would have fit far better.

Yes, they did feel a bit Marvely. The covers were amazing. The majority of the marvel covers are great, it's what's on the other side of them that's the problem.

Yeah, they were a bit too short, but I did like a couple of them. Nothing as good as "45 seconds" or "elder gods" from dark horse but as a whole I felt Black white and blood was a definite step in the right direction.

The only short in Black, White and Blood I really disliked was First Day. It really had no value at all. Morsel and The Hunt were just okay to poor. Everything else I really enjoyed! Utopia is at the absolute top of the class, but I had a lot of fun with Maternal Instinct, Gear in the Machine, Lucky, Hide & Seek & Mother. Some really interesting concepts and typically solid art work in them. 3 duds out of 9 is pretty decent going for an anthology for me.

I couldn't name any of the other stories in BW&B.  I do recall most didn't really function as actual short stories.
