I distinctly remember certain sections of The Cold Forge being a better Isolation adaptation than the actual Isolation adaptation was.

Shame he didn't go into that and the YouTube series. There were some vaguely interesting deleted bits and pieces about the Torrens picking up Ripley after she fought the Aliens in space. And Ripley and Dallas backgrounds originally being drawn from the Aliens inquest dossiers.

Reading this, and whilst mostly great so far, I have a couple of bones to pick:

Aliens Dark Descent certainly deserves more credit than it gets, and saying Alien³ looks dated in terms of production design's just insanity, it's by far the entry that never gives away the era it comes from.

Especially strange assertion when you argue a couple of pages back rightly, that Alien Isolation revels in that seventies vision of the future that Alien created, anyway just wanted to get that thought out.

Alien 3's VFX were dated on release.  But the production design?  lol nope.

Got this for Christmas and it's an enjoyable read. It's definitely a very opinionated take on the subject which does result a bit in butting heads with the author while reading, but I don't think I mind.

I'm three quarters way through reading the book and I'm enjoying it. The authors passion for the game and aliens in general is clearly evident.

As an AI fan I have pretty much all the media for it. I have this, the novelisation which has a sequel of sorts as well, the art of isolation, the game on ps4 and a ported copy on my phone.

I would love an Amanda ripley figure and a stompy fig and I'll be done.

I highly recommend this book and you dont have to agree with everything the writer says to still enjoy it.
