I've talked to Gareth from over at PlanetAVP in the past about AVP, and he told me that he has a source that worked on the film, apparently they told him that there were quite a few scenes and/or shots (which weren't even mentioned on the 2disc dvd) that did not make the final cut due to the fact the Visual Effects teams were not given enough time to complete the work. Actually I believe many of these shots/scenes can be found in "shooting script" that's available online.

Beyond the aforementioned missing scenes, here's some other tidbits I know about....

-There was a short fight scene between Scar and Grid filmed, it occurs in the Ice Grotto(sp?) just before Scar & Lex jump onto the emergency sled. From what I was told it was almost exactly like the beginning of the Celtic/Grid fight, Scar and Grid striking at each other while rolling around on the ground, with Scar taking out a shuriken and slicing Grid across the side of his dome then kicking him against a rock.

-Several shots in the Celtic vs. Grid scene were deleted, unfortunately I didn't get a description of what they were, although when you watch the scene the edits are quite noticeable.

-In the sequence were Scar attacks the team in the Pyramid, there was a scene cut were Scar throws a shuriken which nearly decapitates Sebastian, Lex and Stafford.

-A couple of shots in the scene were the Pred slaughter the team at the Whaling Station were cut. In the final film, we see one of Stafford's men standing outside for no apparent reason, well originally there was a shot were he catches a glimpse of the 3 Preds walking torwards the camp in the middle of the snowstorm. Furthermore, when that said character is killed, all we see in the final film is the camera in Pred POV zoom torwards his face followed by a metallic slashing sound effect, there was a shot cut of a closeup on a cloaked 'Chopper' swiping one of his giant side-blades down into camera.

-In the Flashback sequence, the massive pull-back was trimmed slightly, and just before the Pred's Wristbomb explodes a couple shots of Aliens being diced-up were cut, aswell as a shot of a Pred impaled through the throat by an Alien tail.

Pre-release - hyperbole.
Post-release - excuses galore.

Yes, there's deleted stuff.  None of it concerns hormones or R rated footage.

After 3 years you'd think Fox would have re-realeased the film with all the deleted scenes and R-rated footage in it...  >:(

Why the hell are they not doing this!


They should at least give us the option of watching the theatrical version and the NEW version with ALL the deleted scenes in them!

The screen shot of the Scar Predator removing the Grid Aliens finger is talked about by Anderson in the Directors commentary on the Extreme Edition DVD.  After the Explosion theres bits of Alien flesh laying round.  The Scar Predator walks over the the Grids courpse one of it's removes a fingers and dips the tip of it in Acid then makes marks Lex's face.  These scenes were also storyboarded.

If you guys watch AvP with the audio commentary by John Bruno, Alec and Tom, they said that the facehuggers leaping in slow motion was much longer but the studio demand a shorter cut....

The movie would have been much better if FOX had given to Anderson total control on the movie!

Well that is true.

In Anderson's script, the story involved 5 predators, not 3. Everyone says that that interview with Anderson where he says "...well, as a filmmaker, I'm satisfied with the film, but as a fan of the originals, this cut really pisses me off." is false, well, this is my opinion, FOX read Anderson's script and because of the budget and their interest of making a lot of money they changed it. I wonder where all those missing scenes are.

I was so pissed when i found out that the 5 preds were cut down to 3


but even so...the last script..the one that i read, had only 3 predators, yet in every page at least 3 scenes where cut out, so many damn scenes were cut out. So who knows if those scenes would have mattered or not.

What I mean is that the whole script changed because FOX wanted that way.

I bet my life that they are just waiting for AVP 2 to release this extended version that i have said that they should do...whether or not the damn scene's effect are even done.

I hope so. I'll buy it! One thing I don't get. The special effects team didn't have the time to finish all the scenes, right? Why not finish them after the movie release and put them on the unrated DVD?

The released shooting script was about 104 pages. There's a lot of description going on in it, with Anderson's usually directing the audience, so it's hardly surprising it came out as short as it did.

Where I can get the original script? With 110 pages?

That script only have 3 predators. The original script had 5 predators.

The shooting script isn't the same as the original script. Anderson's original script, with the Cambodian opening, five Predators, and all that jazz, was 130 pages long. The shooting script was only actually 100.

Not to mention that all the descriptive writing adds lots of length to the script, but barely anything to the finished product. The deleted scenes that have been released are pretty much all that was cut from the shooting script.

I know that. They changed it because of the budget I think. Where I can get the original script?  with 130 pages.

Even the Unrated version had scenes still missing.  Why they didn't include them i'm not sure.  But saying that it really wouldn't make a differene if they did, still be an awful movie.

Well I don't know what else there is to say on the subject. The unrated version I'll say actually improves upon the piece of shit PG-13 cut so what else is there to add. But not much.

Those pics of Grid at the top, where is that supposed to fit in??? Because Grid was blown away in the explosion. Was there a fight cut out before the big showdown with the Queen?

The snow around Grid's feet vibrates with the force of the coming explosion.  Grid turns back to look down the tunnel.  The growing fireball is reflected in the shiny opaque dome of his head.  Grid has only a moment to try and turn away before the fireball hits him with full force.  He is BLOWN TO PIECES.
EXT. whaling station
The massive fireball sweeps across the whaling station, setting buildings alight and throwing a rain of flaming debris into the night sky.  The force of the explosion throws Lex and Scar to their knees.

Well to briefly put em...

[All below was filmed]

Miller tries to take a picture of Lex (after the penguin scene) and she tells him to put his hat back on.  He complain it makes him itch, she then tells him if he dosen't his ears will freeze and he'll loose em.

aload of dialogue was removed where the crew are gatherd round the opening of the tunnel to the pyramid. (Which the Predators created)

Anohter scene after that they gathers round a boat and take a look at some satelite readouts of the tunnel on a laptop, most of the dialogue was removed.  Although small snipets of this scene was edited with the abouve scene.  If you watch the film where the crew are gatherd at the mouth of the tunnel you can tell which scene is which.  A continuity mistake. 

When the crew discover the Predator sholder Plasma cannons theres a scene which Miller pulls out a grey device and tries to get reading from them (after the Moses' DVD collection line) , discovering they weren't made at the pyramid etc.  Only a small portion of this scene sin in the movie.


After Max gets killed Mr. Weyland shouts his name and stares at him.

Millers Original capture.  He manages to escape the small tunnels and come across Mr. Weylands body.  two Alien watch him before he is captured by them.  The screenshot of this scene has been posted allready.

After Scar marks his forehead with a finger from the dead face hugger he turns raises his arms and lets out a mighty roar.

These are some i can remember from the top of my head.

Those scenes are on the making of of AVP, if i'm not mistaken.

I Know one of the comentaries mention a scene after the Predator Pods crash into the snow and begin to open there was a scene filmed where they had either a Predator Arm or a Spear rise up from the doorway. I'll have to double check that one though.

I've had a look for it on the net but can't seem to find it, keep coming across the June shooting script and the priginal Peter Briggs one.  If you read the novel you'll get an idea of what that script was like.

Yeah a Predator arm came out of the pod then cut to the next scene. That was cut probably because Anderson wanted to keep the creatures hidden. I never understood why he tried to hide them so much. Everyone knows what they look like.

In the making of, you can see them building 3 predators, 1:1 scale, they would be used to film a scene on the predators spaceship, where they wake up inside a tube full field with black oil.

When you see the Predator writing on the pods doorway Anderson thought that was enough and so removed it.

The scripted scene you posted isn't the one i ment.  I ment the Original Script excerpt for the whole Predator cryo sequence.  Wow cheers for the scans  ;D... i don't have the ADI book so i've never been able to see the unpainted complete model before, cheers.

Im not sure, i've had a look on the net and can't find it.  But i've been told the Novel is your best bet, only just started reading it.  It has the original Cambodia scene in the novel to.

It's a bit, well a lot, hard to me to get my hands on that novel because i live in Portugal and i don't know any space that sells predator/alien comics. A pdf would be amazing  ;D  kidding

For pace/time reasons i suppose.  I know that some scenes that where cut were not finished so had to be cut because of re-writes.

Ya, me too. I hope that someday FOX release a new AVP edition. Well, alien is from 1979 and in 2003 they realeased a new edition with never before seen footage.

looking at those scenes in the ADI book, makes me wonder how the guys who put all that hard graft in making those models and concept art felt after seeing the movie. I mean looking at them, and if Anderson had lit and shot them correctly, we could have had the best looking preds yet, turns out they look like guys in Haloween costumes....... :'(

The first time we see the predators' spaceship, we se our planet and the camera fall down to the room with the predators masks and John Bruno says: "Here, we had to cut..." and suddenly he change the subject. Cryo-stasis tubes scene, maybe?

The first time we see the predators' spaceship, we se our planet and the camera fall down to the room with the predators masks and John Bruno says: "Here, we had to cut..." and suddenly he change the subject. Cryo-stasis tubes scene, maybe?

Yes. And i heard somewhere that in that scene one of the 3 predators is stabbed in the neck by one alien's tail. But why cut that?

there might be a certain amount of Graphic images you can show in a movie with this rating, i also heard a few aliens got diced on top of the pyramid from the preds, dont know if this is true or not though.

I've talked to Gareth from over at PlanetAVP in the past about AVP, and he told me that he has a source that worked on the film, apparently they told him that there were quite a few scenes and/or shots(which weren't even mentioned on the 2disc dvd Thinks) that did not make the final cut due to the fact the Visual Effects teams were not given enough time to complete the work. Actually I believe many of these shots/scenes can be found in "shooting script" that's available online.

Beyond the aforementioned missing scenes, here's some other tidbits I know about....

-There was a short fight scene between Scar and Grid filmed, it occurs in the Ice Grotto(sp?) just before Scar & Lex jump onto the emergency sled. From what I was told it was almost exactly like the beginning of the Celtic/Grid fight, Scar and Grid striking at each other while rolling around on the ground, with Scar taking out a shuriken and slicing Grid across the side of his dome then kicking him against a rock.

-Several shots in the Celtic vs. Grid scene were deleted, unfortunately I didn't get a description of what they were, although when you watch the scene the edits are quite noticeable.

-In the sequence were Scar attacks the team in the Pyramid, there was a scene cut were Scar throws a shuriken which nearly decapitates Sebastian, Lex and Stafford.

-A couple of shots in the scene were the Pred slaughter the team at the Whaling Station were cut. In the final film, we see one of Stafford's men standing outside for no apparent reason, well originally there was a shot were he catches a glimpse of the 3 Preds walking torwards the camp in the middle of the snowstorm. Furthermore, when that said character is killed, all we see in the final film is the camera in Pred POV zoom torwards his face followed by a metallic slashing sound effect, there was a shot cut of a closeup on a cloaked 'Chopper' swiping one of his giant side-blades down into camera.

-In the Flashback sequence, the massive pull-back was trimmed slightly, and just before the Pred's Wristbomb explodes a couple shots of Aliens being diced-up were cut, aswell as a shot of a Pred impaled through the throat by an Alien tail.

I re-watched (again) the disc 2 of the unrated edition. I was viewing the Pre-Production: AVP The Beginning and i notice something. The original Anderson's script was a way lot better.

Like we know (most of us) the original script had 5 predators but one thing i did not knew was that the movie was supposed to start in cambodja, a few thousands years ago.

I blame FOX for the final result that we achieved!

The original script actually sounds halfway decent.  Perhaps a decade from now we'll get an extended version like with Alien 3.  Although Alien 3 was already a great film when it was first released.

It sucks when you hear what this film could have been. I hope it does get the A3 treatment.

Also, I would love to know exactly what Arnold Schwarzenegger's scene entailed? We know it was a cameo at the end, involving him in a helicopter.... so perhaps he was picking Lex up at the end? If so however, how would he know she go into trouble? Would love to read the script for that scene.

What I tyhought

There may be also some scenes that were filmed but the visual effects weren't finished that we don't know about yet. If Fox gives this film the Alien 3 treatment (even though I doubt that) I hope that all of the scenes get out back in or at least most of them without Paul Anderson's involvment.

Paul Anderson is already involved, they will not give it a Alien3 treatment, no way...

Sure it may not ever get the Alien 3 treatment, mostly cause there is not much demand on it. Who knows maybe in a few years time if there is much demand on it then it might happen but again it might not.

You know, I could really see AvP becoming popular in maybe 5 or 10 years...That happens to quite a few movies, look at Blade Runner, it was bashed beyond belief when it was made now its considered an amazing piece of work.

No they had them, they removed them because of the movement of the head. all the AvP models have them too.

The main difference is Blade Runner ALWAYS was an amazing piece of work.  It just took people a while to come to appreciate it.

The Facehugger's in this film Never seemed like they were Totally Gripping someones face,they kind of look like they are Sliding off  :P

Yeh I know that sorta irritated me, because in all the other films especially the first 2 the facehuggers always looked as though they were really stuck on the persons face which made them scary but in AVP they seemed less intimidating.
