AvP2 hands down.  A:CM doesn't even get a 2nd thought.

The fact that you're comparing a current release title to a game that's a decade old is one thing; but there is something else to consider, though.  The existence of AvP2's SDK.

I STILL get emails and PMs from people playing some of the mods I made for the older game.  I bet some of the other old school AvP2 modders can make the same claims. Without an SDK, you will be lucky to see A:CM still have any online life this time next year.

I still think of getting back to modding ye olde AvP2 and pumping out some quick DM/TDM maps just for kicks.  I may still yet do that just to flip the bird at SEGA.

AvP 2 is admittedly too bright at times and does not evoke atmosphere as well as the first game. However, having played it again recently, it still stands up as a solid horror/action game that paid respectable homage to the films in the series back when they numbered six, and featured a well executed interwoven narrative told from the perspectives of three relatable and vastly different characters.

A:CM was dead right out of the gate. It quickly descended into a dime a dozen generic shooter that may as well have been holding a sign saying "Hey. I was outsourced. " No matter how superior the engine was, it cannot outweigh that. And when Michael Biehn says he is not impressed even when you resurrect one of his favorite roles from the dead, you got problems.

AvP 2 does have its flaws, but it is still revered as a classic after over a decade by many in the community, myself included.

As somebody that played AvP2 from its inception to its death, I can still remember when the most popular classes were drone, harrison instead of runner, ichiro.

Leave a game out long enough and people will find its weaknesses.

Playing as her Royal Majesty, the Queen, you say?  :)
Only things I despise about AvP 2 was the pussy-pied rejects that use snipers, grenades and Halo-jump all the time.

AvP2 curbstomps both AvP2010 and ACM.  There isn't a contest.

I wish I could find a place where AvP2 doesn't get sold for full Price. Why haven't they put it on Steam yet? The first one is on Steam after all.

AvP1 only ended up on Steam as part of the marketing campaign for AvP3, given that it's another Rebellion title. I'm not entirely sure who owns AvP2 at the moment, but I think it's Activision Blizzard, who have a frosty (hnnngh) relationship with Valve. They've only ever re-released a handful of older games on Steam; the last was four years ago, and they've tended to be pre-millenium titles.

Without a doubt AVP2, I had some of my favorite gaming moments playing it.

I know people can have different opinion, but can you honestly say A:CM campaign is better?
I saw one member in Gearbox saying it is. I think he was pretending to have played AVP2.
Sure graphic is outed all that, but in term of tension, atmosphere, storyline, AVP2 shitstomps A:CM.

Irony is that both titles had divided funds, yet one turns out to be great.

I'll pick ACM just for the engine alone. Litech is one of the worst engines ever made.
A:CM's engine is way worse and actually doesn't look like an improvement even after a decade.
UE3 is better than Litech in every aspect.
Maybe so but UE3 is just horrible now.
