Not sure on the veracity of any of that. Also, we know a new Dirk Maggs/Tim Lebbon collaboration was teased last year and if history is anything to go by, it'll be an Alien Day release.

Yeah, probably more likely to see something from Alien: Romulus, but even that is unlikely.

And while I don't play DBD much, I've always thought it'd be cool to see a Alien chapter in the game (and apparently it's a pretty popular request among the playerbase). Would make me pick up the game again for a bit for sure.
If we do see anything for the tv series or Romulus I'm expecting nothing more than probably just a logo and a short statement saying that it's in the works. Which even that I would be fine with tbh. Expectations are pretty low lol.
I'll settle for some official names for Romulus and the TV series.

Miserable lineup as usual, a random strategy game nobody asked for and tons of nothingness. Alien desperately needs at least Kathleen Kennedy at this point, even she somehow put more care in Star Wars than every single person in charge of Alien after 1986 and SW fans are still mad as hell about her and think that she killed SW.

But to actually have a serious discussion, I'm hoping we do learn more about Dark Descent. I'm sure it's going to feel on the budget side of things, but like Blackout - it was a game I didn't know I wanted until I read more into it. I've been keen to hear more on it and I hope they don't miss the opportunity, especially with the supposed release date of June.
Very much looking forward to Dark Descent, at least it's not another FPS that has a Pulse Rifle and a Space Jockey chamber. I just hope it doesn't get canceled.

I'm not trolling or baiting, Corporal, I just want to dilute "just consoome and don't ask questions" forum attitude with a bit "ask questions" and "demand better" diversity of thought. Imagine if SW Celebration showed some fan posters and called it a day, this lineup is an equalent of that. Now I'm sure the forum was excited as hell about AvP: Requiem and would be incredibly excited about Uwe Boll directing Alien movie or new mobile game instead of real game.

And even at the rumor of we having something, people fly in saying that it's all wrong.
It's funny.. I've always enjoyed the narratives created for the games more than the actual gameplay itself! To me, it's always like getting a new comic or novel release that I can also play on a console haha
None of the game stuff really interests me, and I dropped Marvel's comics (would love an excuse to return, but so far nothing's really called me back in), so info (however slight) about the film and/or the show are probably the only things I would really care about on Alien Day, myself.
Marvel's Alien absolutely sucks so far as does Predator also or so I hear, the Titan Books have additionally largely disappointed since Alex White's last novel, and I am still not interested in Fede Alvarez's film...
I am interested in Noah Hawley's television series, I am also interested in Dark Descent and whatever comes next for Fireteam Elite.
Because different strokes for different folks, it might be easy to paint everyone with the same brush but, it is not truthful.

Yeah, it's a shame Alien Day hasn't been great. The initial 2 were actually great fun but it really dropped off and hasn't yet recovered. But with years like this one with a bunch of upcoming releases of movies and games, it seems like it'd be a waste not to start going bigger again. It's never going to be SW Celebrations and I accept that, the franchise doesn't have that same mass appeal, but to see Alien Day more in line with those first few days would be wonderful.
Does kinda feel like they ran out of steam and gave up, though I'm hoping there's something decent given the productions that are due to be arriving soon.

Well, that Dark Descent thing was already revealed.
Only thing there I would like to see is more videos of aliens dark descent, and maybe a official title for the new movie but then again as it sounds like a rebot, its likely just alien.

I do hope they don't go down the basic Alien title. Much prefer a subtitle for ease of discussion. lol
With Marvel - it's a new creative team so I'm looking forward to it. Hoping Marvel will finally land a hit.

New map based on one of the movies plus Alien being added as a killer and Ripley as a survivor, Alien's power likely being stealth based and having the option of taking survivors to hived up spots instead of hooks, like how Pyramid Head can send survivors to cages instead of Hooks
Maybe it's the hooks thing tripping me up (and people being able to wiggle free from the Alien's grasp), if they're able to change that then maybe it would work better in my head.
Yeah I think adding Alien to the game would make perfect sense.
- Fits in the lineup of other horror icons that the game has, and the game has yet to really go in on that sci-fi/alien corner of horror.
- The first film is often described as slasher/haunted house movie, at it's core. Which fit's with the game's slasher focus.
- Playing as a survivor doesn't feel too far-off from how it feels to play Alien Isolation tbh, so I can see it translating well from that angle, but with the added bonus of someone playing as the xeno.
and there's a lot of potential to adapt the game's elements to the film's, without having to tweak too much.

Ken runs the licensing for Alien and Predator at 20CS for about a year or so now. Wouldn't be surprised if we see a little more action on Alien Day this year with how much he posts about the brand. Would be awesome if he pushes it and it can grow to a larger scale event day in the future.

Hoping for more of a big-chap or stompy look myself. For some reason I just get the vibe that they'd pull inspo from Isolation.
With some of alt skins/cosmetics they've given to other licensed characters, I could see them giving the xeno at least a warrior skin. Not getting my hopes too much tho lol.

Alien (theatrical) got a 4k UHD version on Alien Day 2019, both physical and digital - Well at least in the US, but it's region free so you can play it anywhere in the world.
Blue means 4K releases of the rest of the films. They were rumoured some time ago, but nothing ever came of it.

What would removing the egg accomplish? I mean, the presence of the facehugger doing its thing to people/animals implies the existence of an egg.

Fincher never actually wanted the egg shot either, if I recall correctly. I think that came along during some pickups.
Maybe the next Aliens anthology (if we get one) will include a story about how the Sulaco had been sabotaged by someone at W-Y who placed the egg on board in a funky upside down position?

Would have been easy to just remove that shot from the "Special Edition", but they did not touch the scenes before the EEV landing for some reason.
The entire credit sequence was a late addition. Originally they just crashed.
Removing just the egg shot creates a problem with the timing of the credits. They would need to edit a completely new credit sequence.
Or you need to replace that shot specifically with something else like, a shot of space, funny situation because I love how moody it is but it is hard to deny the film would be better off without that opening altogether.
We've already had our space shots.
I threw in a shot of the Sulaco hangar recoloured to match Alien 3. Worked well enough. But yeeting the intercuts and just having credits, then straight to crash is the best option I think.

Yeah that's basically what I was trying to say, no matter what you could replace that specific shot with, the bare minimum would be better.
Because of Bishop's dialogue later, and for various other reasons.
Really you either want to cut the Alien completely before it gets Clemens OR significantly reduce Ripley's investigation and completely ditch the Bishop "revelation" so everyone gets on the same page sooner.
How long between the funeral and Clemens' death roughly?
I've never been particularly bothered by the fact we know of the creature before the characters do

Would be pretty neat if at the panel they made an announcement about Romulus being shifted to a theatrical release. Evil Dead Rise killed it theatrically in its opening weekend, and that one was shot with the intent of being a streaming release.

I know CinemaCon is
exclusively about theatrical releases (most of the audience is theater owners, managers, etc.), so I definitely wouldn't expect anything about Hawley's show there (though a bit of news regarding that on social media separate from the CinemaCon panel is absolutely a possibility), but I would love so much for
Romulus to get the big screen treatment and I can't think of a better day for that news to break, if something like that were to actually happen...

Happy Alien day all. Hope everyone enjoyed their time watching/reading/playing/listening. I finally fired up the Audible/Dirk Maggs Alien River of Pain audio drama. It's pretty fine for licensed fan fic, but there's one moment that took me by surprise.

I played the new Fireteam map with some friends. Nothing special lore-wise (not even new voice overs) but the map was really difficult with Xenos coming from all directions. We got our ass handed to us on Intense.

I had a blast! Was great going to see Alien and Aliens again. Was another showing of the 4K Alien, and I've only seen that the once. I'm a peasant, I don't have a 4K TV. I'd gone with Shevvie, and it was his first time seeing Aliens on the big screen so that was great.
I'm glad to see we got a little tease from Romulus, and the new pre-order trailer for Dark Descent. The Limited Run announcement was a huge surprise too.

Might still be coming, I mean that evidence was there. They usually have the big licensed chapters for their anniversary which is in June. I believe their next livestream is in May when they'll be announcing that chapter so it's possible we see it then. Maybe they just want to keep the hype closer to release.
Pretty good Alien day. Sorta wished for that Dead by Daylight playable Alien, but pretty satisfied otherwise.

There is a sequel episode to that one in which one of Mr. Bean's guests returns for his hat.
They've kept framing it so you don't see the window till the very end which makes me think it was very deliberate

Yeah it was nice to see the official Alien channels much more active than they've been since 2020. But also was disappointed with the lack of a DBD chapter or audio drama announcement. Finally seeing something from the set of the new movie though was really cool.
