Yep, definitley getting the dvd. I'd prefer getting a 2-disc if they're gonna have one.
I heard that the DVD/Blu Ray release might not be unrated or extended. That RR and Nimrod are happy with the theatrical movie and want to include extra scenes as just deleted scenes. I was hoping for a unrated directors cut. Some of the scenes that were cut sounded pretty cool, well one of them does. Adrian Brody said one of them was a scene where big/giant mosquito things attack them. Another was Walt Goggins or Stans in the movie hits on Isabelle wanting to have sex and she rejects him. Sounds like a lot got trimmed. I am sure Fox will either release theatrical edition and then 6 months later release unrated extended cut. But I am definitely getting the blu ray for sure. I hope they release a special steel book edition.
Blu-ray they always have more special features.
Blu Ray day one for me. Got a pretty kick arse cinema setup here at home, and Predators looked and sounded amazing on the big screen so i think it will be superb on Blu.
This is a Movie I'll gladly add to my Predator collection.
Blu-ray all the way for the quality. If there is a metallic box, it would be awesome! 8)

I know they got the same asshole to do the color grading from AVP-R, so they better not mess up the DVD this time around! It's the last and final product of the film.
If they matain the quality of the film perfectly in what we saw in theaters and make it look more sharper and crisp, perfect 8)

No, the two films share the same editor, not the colour grader.

Blu-rays and DVDs are usually made from the Digital Intermediate master, which is the final colour grading process. It's simply making a copy of the finished digital product and putting it to the home release formats.
So are you saying they are going to colour grade the film one last time and then copy the final product of the film for blu-ray and DVD?

Getting both Blu Ray and special edition DVD. This is because I may want to watch it in my portable DVD player, and I obviously can't do that with a blu ray disc, so...
Also, if there is a trilogy release like OmegaZilla alluded to, then i will also be getting that (for blu ray most probably).
Not sure if you guys have noticed this, I've seen the movie three times so far, one version has the same trailers before the film and it's slightly darker, the other version has one or two different trailers and it's slightly brighter.
They have two different copies of Predators I believe.
I have seen the film and yes, it definitely merits a Blu-Ray release.
I just hope they fill it with good featurettes and other extras.

i'm sure there will be, even before release wqe've seen how passionate RR is about it, and i'm sure he commisioned a lot of behi9nd the scenes stuff, also want deleted scenes, and if possible an uncut version, and hopefully and extended version with actual additional plot lines etc.
The only thing I'm really rooting for is a documentary about the design of the new creatures, and the building of the animatronics and suits.
I haven't even seen the movie yet, but I can 100% guarentee that I'll buy the Blu-Ray when it comes out. I think most people on here would do the same.

What ever the collectors edition is I'm getting it on Blu-ray. This is coming out the same day as Iron Man 2. I hope they're not rushing this at the cost of Special Features.

Getting this day one. I wouldn't dishonor the movie or the Preds by getting this on dvd...........no offense.
Though the more predator movies come out the more likely we will end up double dipping cause you know when the series gets to at least 4 movies a big ass box set ala Alien Anthology is gonna be demanded.

I doubt it will happen with the blu-ray version they hardly ever re release them avatar was a exception for blu-ray re-release

Two. The first blu-ray release, which had a decent quality, with some grain visible, and no extra features. And then, the Ultimate Hunter Edition, which heavily used DNR and removed all the grain that was left in the first release. Extras are from the 2-disc edition DVD of

Yeah but that's my point mate. They've released that on twice already. Once Predators has been out for a while we'll get a super-duper trilogy boxset with unseen footage etc that they've been holding for years. And the cycle will continue.
I doubt they add many features in box-sets and stuff if anything, I think they will take away them. Like my Jurassic box trilogy box now extras at all not even commentary, and I am pretty sure if you buy them separately there is tons of added stuff.
So theres no news on the special features... at all!?!
Hope they do a like alien quadrillagy type thing if they have all 3movies and it would be a pluse for me cause I have yet to get pred2.

I know about the opening but what alternate ending?
The alternate ending was a more depressing take of Royce and Izzy at the end. It was meant to reflect the loneliness of "so now you've killed everything.... [sarcastically] contratulations". Though they went with what ended up in the theatrical version, which is more hopeful.

Well I am somewhat mad because it's still unknown what the us will get but we do get a digital copy and hopefully a 2 disc set .but I am more mad that we dident get dates and a really hope it's still September October ish.
I agree. I need a minumum of 3 months to build up money for the Alien Quadrilogy. And this is without the factor of the Predator Collection.
It would be cool if the alien blu matched the pred trilogy like the pic of the tirlogy with falconer and the alien white cover with the queen.
I feel they did good by keeping them apart. But thats just my opinion.

Is the 9/29/010 date official or not? I find it odd to release the movie on DVD/Blu Ray a couple months after it cameout. I thought we would get it on DVD & Blu Ray by the end of Fall?

It is a recent trend, probably due to not everyone changing to blu-ray yet, and the digital is probably just a added gift just to make it sound worth it.
I don't know whether to get the steelbook though it might not go with my pred1 and 2 blu-ray.

That's right! I have a PS3 to play the Blu-rays but no HDTV at the moment, so buying this combo pack with the DVD will be useful for the meantime. The digital copy is a standard def version of the film on a disc that you can pop on your computer, or upload to your iPod etc. It's basically a way of making a film easily portable, but often they only let you copy it off the disc once or twice. Yes, it's pretty silly.

Yeah the steelbook is tripple play, though I'm not sure if the digital copy is on a 3rd seperate disc or on the regular DVD. Play.com now says its tripple play, but 2disc set. 2 discs would be better!
It's pretty funny that they would use the term "triple play" in the UK when the vast majority of the people don't have a clue what a triple play actually is.

I got my cousin on it (USA) to check around he works for a supermarket (dunno which one) and he said there was gunna be one (he checked pc)though it didn't say when it was out thought it was added the same date as predators, so I guess the same date. Yeah I can't believe how hard the DVD buyers are getting shafted. I'll likely splurge and buy the blu-ray version, even though I don't actually have a blu-ray player yet. It'll be a good incentive to get one, and at least I won't be buying the movie twice (DVD, then blu-ray).

ya I won't argue with you there, but it's still a lot larger of a price point. Like me, I made the mistake of buying a $1200 Sony 32" Vega flat screen CRT (still huge and heavy!) in 2002 and to be honest it's the best TV I've ever owned. It still has absolutely amazing picture quality and looks great with my samsung DVD player hooked up with component connection (red, blue, green for picture, seperate sound system)
The sad part is I'd like a blu-ray player now but I would have to buy an HDTV (which I really want) but I don't want to drop cash on some junky el cheapo at Wal-Mart, when I buy I like to buy quality. And I would need a blu-ray player and HDMI cable, and a new sound system to go with it too of course! So in effect I need a minimum of about $1700 to upgrade to blu-ray. Don't be too impressed yet. Home Entertainment PR is my least favorite. Can take a while before I get an answer, if I do, at all.
In regards to the BR/DVD thing, at least R2 gets both DVD and BR in one pack. I intend on getting a BR player for October.
Get a PS3 instead. There aren't enough AvP players on there ;D
Plan on picking up both blueray and standard dvd, Ive got a blueray in the living room but not the bedroom. The HD tv I got in the bedroom which is where I mostley watch movies only has 2 HDMI outlets which take up my HD cable box/dvr and X360. Hopefully soon they'll release a 2 disc dvd thats got all the cool shit the blueray has. It pisses me off when the regular dvd consumers get royaly f#$ked when it comes to extras and Predators is no exception.
I'm not so keen on extras, but not including deleted scenes on DVD is so much jackass move from Fox :( . I do not have Blu-ray so I will buy DVD, with hope that someone will put a fan edit on the web which will have deleted scenes reinserted.
Well since it comes out Oct.19(Which is close to my bday) i got myself a birthday present and preorder Predators on blueray.
I'm looking forward to these motion comics. I wonder if they'll contradict or fit the prequel comics.

It looks horrible.
This took zero effort to put together. I could have done the samething with Paint Shop Pro 9. This cover makes the movie look bad when in fact the movie is AWESOME.
It's actually pretty good. compared to the uk one.
If they at least put all the characters... like that it seems that Cuchillo & Noland play determinant roles in the story (as Royce & Isabelle do) but they do not...
They probably choose them for the fact that they are the more famous ones of the group.

My main problem with these covers is that the name is on top.
It works for comics because they put them on stands where they overlap and you can only see the top.
In movie stores such as Blockbuster they put them on shelves where they are completely revealed, A dvd cover doesnt need the logo on top, it needs to be able to catch peoples attention. That being said, heres mine.....

Note the black bars on the top one are just to suggest were the fold line goes, so if any one wants to print it out (which I doubt) Just pm and I will send you the final version, and I can easily convert it to a blu-ray cover easily so dw about that. :) I am still working on the predators title on the cover because its a bit jaggedy, and I can remove or add anything so just say if you think there needs to be a change :D
Hopefully I'll get the unrated version on dvd. Before when I was going to get the unrated with the features I like rather get a DVD version then a Blu-Ray, I just went to Target. Thats how I got SAW III Unrated Edition DVD with the feature about Amanda. Also thats how I got Terminator Salvation Director's Cut on DVD without geting that stupid Blu-Ray!

Once again, there is NO "unrated edition" or "unrated cut". The theatrical version is the only version of the film that'll be released. The deleted scenes are seperate extras, that's it.

I am a DVD kind of person... I cant stand Blu Ray! I see it has its up and downs but really all I see is downs, anyways I am really really really really pissed ( be afraid ) that all the best extras are in the blu ray and not the DVD, I think its unfair. I am in a financial situation were even if I had a blu ray player I could never afford it blu ray disk is like 10+ dollars more expensive I am lucky to even get the movie at all! I am just a big of fan of this movie as some of you are and I deserve the extras gods f*cking damn it! ...... that all I have to say...
The thing is... There is usually more features on a BD because it can store more information on it... A DVD can't... And it probably costs too much to make it a 2 disc set or something along those lines.
i really dont see the point of making a fully featured blueray but leave the dvd like shit.
the extras i only want to see is how knb worked on the movie, and that is probely on the blueray.

i think you are half right, DVD is over 10 years old now, but blu ray is almost half that already, i think blue ray is here to stay but DVD will live on as the budget option for quite a long time, certainly on the PC and XBox format, and due to the fact that blu ray is taking a long time to become standard on PC or exist on XBox means i think it will live on for quite a long time, you could still get music on cassettes for almost 20 years after CDs came out, and you can still buy cassette players and blank cassettes, so i think DVDs will be the cassettes to Blu-ray's CDs
I've noticed that the last few Blu-Rays I've bought have come with the DVD anyway, so you get both. I reckon it will be like that for quite a while. DVD will never die though. It may in the US, UK and Australia, but I think the format is too cost prohibitive for a lot of countries. At least right now anyway.
New DVDs cost about $20.... New Blu-rays cost about $28.

yeah with kick ass the single disc DVD was £10, 2 discwas £12 i think, the blu ray was £16 and for £18 you could get a steel-book with the blu-ray and 2 disc dvd!! if you make sure to get double and triple play stuff you'll actually save money!
I hope the sound quality is good on Blu-ray, am I the only one who can't stand the super low voices and ultra high action sounds, why can't it just be more balanced?

Hmmm, I think I got an idea for you to fix the annoying ultra high action sound.
When you pop in your blu-ray go to the main menu, look for audio options.
After that, you might see two audio options, english "DTS HD" which gives you the ultra low voices and annoying high pitch action sounds. You don't want that.
English "Dolby surround" is what you want, the action sounds are much more balanced and sounds great. The voices are much higher too.
See if that helps. Worked like a charm for me, everything is nice and balanced.
I have a question is it possible to buy a DVD or Blu ray in the UK and have it delivered to the US and have it work here in are DVD or Blu ray players? From what I can tell Falconer gets more of the spotlight on the covers in the UK where here in the US Berserker gets the cover.
I got THe Crow Blu-ray from the UK and it doesn't work on my PS3 at all. :(

Newer HDTV's are capable of displaying both PAL and NTSC images, however -
Your USA PS3 uses the NTSC standard, as does Blu-Ray discs bought in the USA
The UK Blu-Ray will be PAL version
Most likely the PAL disc will not play in a US bought NTSC PS3, but there are some Blu-Ray players that will play both PAL and NTSC discs.

both my tv and surround sound system have dynamic range compression, makes everything awesome, nothing is too loud or too quiet ;D

I have heard that the PS3 does not lock PS3 games by region, but it does lock PS1 & 2 games, as well as DVDs and Blu-Rays - I do not have a PS3 so I am not 100% sure.
But region coding (in Blu-Ray it's A/B/C regions) and video standard (NTSC, PAL) are two different things. Region coding is simply a method of locking the disc to play only on players from the same region. A region free player is usually multi-sync and able to play both NTSC and PAL, but I doubt that the PS3 is like that, though I could be wrong. You also need a multi-sync TV capable of displaying both NTSC and PAL images, which all HDTV's and many less than 10 years old model CRT's are.

lol ya I was in the UK at the time, the region 1 came out like a month before the region 2 so I ordered it from home, but the shipper was sllllooowww and it was released in the UK before my region 1 arrived. I kinda liked how it was called AvP2 there so I went ahead and bought it. Both sets are exactly alike save for the region one has digital copy!

Yer, I would post the link to the picture, I found on another site, I did email a mod about it on the submit news bit, so they might be able to post it, basically it was a shot of one of the trilogy boxes (a dutch one I think) anyway it was a 3d one well I mean it wasn't a face on package shot, you could see the side bit and it said.

Oh, didn't say it was bad... but for a 2010 film it is certainly average quality. Look at last year's TF2 Blu-ray for example, it's really better. May change idea when I buy it - but for now there, I think it's average.

It may be that my last comment was done when I was quite sleepy... but those shots look better; also, they've got in me the wish to watch the film again.
Yeah Predators really is one stunning looking movie, and technically well put together, these shots looks superb.
Ive always felt the scene where fishburne locks them in and the red flare lighting kicks in reminded me of the scene from Aliens where the xenos attack the medlab and the survivors escape thru the airshafts, it has the same look and feeling of escaping from the claustrophobic space to it.
I also love the shot where the actors fall off the cliff into the water and the camera drops down, still following them, and actually splashes into the water with them, superb!
Also the films overall color palette and sharpness of the image is astounding, just gives it such a mucky and grounded feel to it.

The film looks great, the shots are very well put together. Its such a shame though that the production of this film was rushed because there are a few places in this film seem to be rushed and editing is poor.

Interestingly enough, I think those exclusives have been dropped. I also checked for them, but couldn't find any as of yet. I thought they'd do exclusives for Avatar, but, surprisingly, they didn't. Since Avatar is highest grossing film so far, I thought for sure that they would have exclusives for it. Since they didn't, I have to go with that the exclusives thing has been dropped, for now at least.

The tripple play version is an exclusive at Walmart, with a slight red sheen to the slipcase. Everywhere else is just the Blu-ray and digital copy.

as far as i can tell, both HMV and Amazon uk are carrying the triple play edition, i think the idea is to get people buying blu-rays even if they don't own a player yet, since most of the time it is only a couple of pounds more than the DVD on it's own, so people see it as a good deal, then once they own blu rays they are more likely to buy a player.

Regarding the stickers I just saw this Youtube video, and the guy said rubbing a little bit of baby oil on the stickers, leaving it for 10 mins make it slip right off.... dunno if you wanna try that or not? ;D

EDIT: superherohype.com still has the Berzerker Predator running around for anyone who still needs to defeat him. He'll probably be gone by midnight so kill him fast if you need to, the max number of points you can get off him is 4000 (I haven't heard of a player who scored higher on him yet), you can even replay to try to increase your score.

Well, probably it wouldn't get smushed if in a bubble envelope but really you can't count on it. I'll do whatever way you want to though! isnt the digital copy only apart of blu-ray. not separate?
no its a second disk and its kinda pointless. just watched the blu-ray. it seemd to have long loading times and froze my player.

Great Blu Ray...loved the film...looks great, sounds great. A decent amount of special features, although I felt the motion comics were a little disappointing.

I have to correct my first post. First time I won, I just got 900 for the Falconer, with one alert message with a picture of him.
2nd time there were 2 alert messages: 900 for the Falconer and the second one had a picture of the classic with 1000 points.
A third time I got 1900 for the Falconer. I don't know, I just killed all three Preds. 2x Falconer and 1x Classic. ??? I saved the pic of the Classic alert message:

You mean you fight the Classic as well or the second time you fought the Falconer, it just showed you a Classic Predator pic?

Ok picked up the 3-disk blu-ray and popped it in and a message popped up saying; "Warning, you need to update your blu-ray player to view this disc"..............WTF. You need to update blu-rays periodically??? that f$%kin sucks.
Yeah you need to connect your player with the latest firmware often. Similar to how you have to update a PS3 or Xbox360 to keep all the latest releases smooth.

no they took it off sorry.when i first defeated the hounds it was a stans motion comic. not sure on the points system its all very loopy
Did you return again for these bonus points that the Berzerker and the Falconer mysteriously gave away? Did you also get the Noland motion comic as well (I think someone may have mentioned that)? So I guess the Stans motion comic isn't on the Blu-Ray, I guess it's the exclusive motion comic that can only be found on that site, huh?

i think if you do it under a certain time with no deaths you get the bonus.
With the Hell Hound, I thought you said you just clicked the banner to get the points. Either way, I dunno about that. I beat both the Berzerker and the Falconer without dying once and I still got 3600 and 900 points respectively. I played them again and somehow I got 4000 and 1900 points for them. It's really weird.
EDIT: There's a Berzerker Predator at syfy.com's homepage for those who are interested. Max point score off him is 4000.

Man just isnt fair. It should have everything as the blue ray.
It's most likely a cheap way for Fox to switch all its customers to Blu-Ray.

What was that? I noticed that the Predators are bigger and closer (I think) and the link to it no longer says "PRACTICE HUNTING PREDATORS", it just says "HUNT PREDATORS NOW!"

I totally agree man, sucks big time almost every dvd has at least a 2 disc (disc 1-movie/disc 2-special features). Maybe they'll release a 2-disc in the coming months but probably not though.
As I said earlier, this is probably a cheap scheme to convert more people to Blu-Ray.

Now I got 1900 for the Tracker... don't know how this point system works. I dodged lots of plasma shots before killing the preds. With 7800 points I'm the 3rd on the leaderboards.
Regarding the Xs: maybe it's some kind of error, who knows.

EDIT: How do you dodge the Predators' blasts? I keep pressing A, S, D; but the blasts always get me anyway. Got any tips of anything that can help?
EDIT: Never mind, I sorta got it. The seems game is glitchy, though. :( Sometimes dodging has no effect. How do I dodge headshots? I thought I just had to duck down, but they still get me. I'm guessing this is one of the glitches the game has.
EDIT: The max number of points I seem to be able to get from the Tracker is 1500. How did you get 1900? It seems to me you can only dodge 2x plasma blast straight before dodging has no effect. If you kill a Predator, then you get another 2x dodges.
EDIT: I think I found a way around that, now I can do 3x dodges. :)

I got now 2000 for Tracker and Falconer. I still don't know how the system works, but I think, that you can get some points by dodging the plasma shots.

I basically did 20 dodges before killing each predator to get the 2100 scores. So in all, that's 60 dodges per game; just hope you didn't do it for the Berzerker cause 4000 seems to be the max number of points you can get from him. I'm pretty sure 2100 is the max number of points you can get from the Tracker and Falconer cause I did 30 dodges before killing each predator, a total of 90 dodges a game, for the Tracker, but still got 2100.

I dodged several times too.
The one on the left is the Tracker, the far one on the right is Berserker and the near Predator one the right is the Falconer, right?
I actually had no idea that those three were Berzerker, Falconer, and Tracker. I just assumed that they were all the same breed and that the Defeated Predator was chosen randomly.

I think it is chosen randomly. But when I killed them in a special order, I got the same Predator in the end. I'm confused, maybe it was just by accident.
I've been asking the Predators Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter page to do another Hell Hound thing, I haven't got a response yet, though. :( Hopefully, they'll still give us another chance. They've been giving second chances for the Predators.

This scene may explain why Edwin is a "disgraced physician". Does anyone believe Edwin or do you think he killed the woman on purpose or that he was lying to Royce? I understand why they took it out, it took away much of the mystery surrounding why Edwin was on the game preserve.
There wasn't any mystery about it, they didn't even mention it as strange they could of played of that aspect of the story more they didn't it was only a minor thing that was one of my main disappointments.
Yeah, the way they ended up playing his story wasn't my favorite aspect but I quite like that scene. God, I miss this movie. I'll buy the trilogy set tomorrow.

I wanted that but I already have the predators hunter edition so it wasn't cost effective, but I prefer the predators steel case more :P The special features are amazing as well the only thing I haven't seen of them yet is watch it a second time with commentary. I might do it tonight. But I have heard there is more from RR than Antal, and in the features Antal is a legend and comes across so well.
Is it just me or is that deleted scene badly edited? If you look at the beginning when the camera's on Edwin, you'd see that it's shaded slightly blue, then as the camera switches to Royce and then back to Edwin, it's shaded regular.
Deleted scenes aren't usually done up unless they're inserted into the cut. They just leave as is.
Am I the only one here that wants to see a special edition of this movie? It's just awesome. :o Also, every movie in this franchise has a special edtion, unrated edition, or director's cut; except for the Predator movies. What's with that? ???

This is weird to describe. On the one hand, I get why they deleted that scene, to make Edwin reveal himself as killer at end more of a surprise (personally I thought it was much better done in the leaked script, with subtle hints that Edwin is a serial killer such as the trickle of blood on his head and the fact that he plucks off the wings of a monarch butterfly), I really wished that they had included this scene in the theatrical version. Sure, it downplays Edwin's role, but I so like the way it is acted much like the Third Most Wanted deleted scene. It doesn't exactly give away that he is a serial killer, just a disgraced physician. But then again, it sure makes him look more like a dick.

I've picked up the trilogy set. Worked out equalling "buy Predator and Predators and get Predator 2 free". They're all triple play as well. I'm impressed that they'd include the DVD and digital copies. I only hope the DVD version also contains the special features as I don't have a BR drive lol.

Agreed. This and the third most wanted deleted scene should have been in the movie. Funnily enough both focus on Stans.
I didn't like the scene. It was reinforcing Stans with what we already knew about him, really. I wouldn't call it a necessary character moment.

The Stans Motion Comic helps explain why he's in prison. It doesn't depict him as a rapist, though.

I'm talking about in film though. Like when you watch it at the movie theater. Not everybody is gonna watch the motion comics or the read the character bio before watching it.
Technically, it's after watching it, but I get your point. That's one of the things I love about these Motion Comics; only the serious fans gets their questions answered, all the other casual watchers don't; it's like a reward system. ;D
Well on the UK release it only has Isabelle, Cuchillo, Hanzo, Mombasa and short intro/end-tro by Noland. Also the Crucified comic. I wonder why the Stans comic isn't on there.
Also - Isabelle's comic contradicts the comic adaption with her being kidnapped in Afghanistan instead of in South America like the in adaption. Crucified contradicts the prequel comic by having them hunt down the Classic Predator instead of getting him as a result of the Seal's trap.

Deleted scenes have largely been boring. Nothing special in any of them, I feel.

I know about the Isabelle contradiction, but I figured a way around the Crucified one. The BSPs capture Classic cause of the trap then let him go again to hunt him; in the Crucified Motion Comic, it looked to me that Classic was very underarmed so it's possible that the BSPs stripped him of his plasmacaster before setting him loose again so that they couldh ave more fun with him. Which do we consider more canon; the comics or the Motion Comics. I'd say Motion Comics cause they were made for the DVD and Blu-Ray and the comic adaptation is very loosely based on the film; characters say other characters' lines and different choices are made by them than in the movie.
Any one else got lines on there screen when the camera is on Edwins feet when he is running on the stickman scene?

Whoa, whoa, why wasn't this in the movie? I hope Rodriguez and Antal didn't shoot themselves in the foot. I like the film as it is but it could have been more powerful with this in. Extended cut sometime, I hope.

Finally something good happens in these franchises after so many broken promises and let-downs! It had its issues sure (I felt that Brody was really having to force his voice and it was quite obvious in places, and the infamous shootout with the dogs made me laugh at how terrible these 'badasses' were with guns), but that was more than redeemed by the rest of the movie. Especially the part with Noland. The decision to cast Fishburne was genius, and I was gutted when he was killed as I really would have liked to see more of him.
Overall, it's a definate 8/10 for me. So much better than P2.
It was worth the wait :)

Wow, excellent. I definitely feel Predators was on the right track. I would've liked to see a little more development with the creatures themselves, but it's real good as it is. Happy you enjoyed it, Vul.
I take back everything I've said about the darkness issue with this film. I do admit to being put off by lighting after watching the film in cinemas and then looking at the screencaps, I felt that this movie was going to be dark. But after purchasing the Blu-ray though, I have to admit I am deeply impressed by the cinematography of this film. For a film that was rushed, it looks awesome compared to the last few Predator films, except Predator. The look of this film is amazing that it made me ignore all of the problems with this film, and there weren't that many problems with this film. After watching this film though, I did feel that it was a bit short, that's the only major problem, alongside the fact that Classic's inner-jaw doesn't move.

Already noticed something too. In Predator, they had to slow the cameras in order to be able to see the minigun spinning. In this, they didn't bother. Trivial I know, but it stuck out for some reason.

Might be just you, Val. The hunting camp sequence at the end was Caravaggio-quality contrast as far as I remember. It's been a while since I watched the Blu-Ray, I'll check tonight to see what you mean.

No it is not just you, I noticed that too. The same thing happened to AVPR, though its more bearable with Predators. I've noticed though, there tends to be a lot more greyness in the picture quality on plasma screen than standard ones.
Hm, my TV isn't plasma, I'll play about with the settings a bit, but that might just make it all round darker. Pr'haps they were just going a certain look?

most lcd tv can show tru blacks because its backlit.
I've tested it both on plasma 1080i and LCD 1920x1200 HDMI and they both look pretty good all together. The fact of the matter is Predators was darkened and it could have been abit more brighter in detail while still maintaining the dark lighting.
Whoever is head of the final print of the film is making these Alien and Predator films dark on purpose. Please fire that person.
Maybe they're keeping it dark to keep in tone with the atmosphere. Isn't that what AVP movies are all about; being dark?

You're right, there's definitely a greyness to it. It looks like the blacks have been tuned to the colour of the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen--for a lot of my movies the blacks in the picture are darker than the bars. It don't think it looks too bad either way, it's a pretty film, especially near the end.
So I've watched it now over and over again and I must say, the picture quality is great. Even that dusty night shot where Mr. Black rips Stan's spine & skull out is really vivid and clear. When I came out of the cinema I thought the reason for me not understanding that scene was the bad editing, but actually it was the darkness the movie had in the cinema.
Getting to like this movie more and more now especially after seeing the Hanzo vs Falconer fight. Every move in the cinema seemed so hectic and uncontrolled, but on my TV it's just beautiful to look at and not even that bad choreographed.
Pity though there is no extended fight scene of the Classic vs Black showdown like that Imdb guy said (although I knew that he was talking bullcrap when he started to talk about that additional scene in the hunting camp... that was just so fanboyish). But even that fight is so nice to look at on the dvd, whereas on the cinema screen it again really looked like horrible editing.
So Ultimately I guess the lighting on the improved dvd quality really did the trick for me and makes it a better movie for me now, than it did when I watched it in the cinema.
I saw the movie 3x in cinema and I noticed there were two versions of the film. One which you saw, it was pretty dark. The the 3rd showing I saw had different trailers in the begining and it was much brighter. The DVD and blu-ray version is of that brighter version I saw in theaters.
We got lucky, because if they would have released the dark version of Predators on DVD and blu-ray....
that wouldn't have been good at all.

the movie is faded and dull but there are no scenes like in avpr were you could hardly tell what just happened. i do wish it was a bit brighter and less froggy la gogo stuff like the time when Jimmy and I went to the flee market and Jimmy found the dead dog behind the comic book stand. it was small and dry and must have been there for a while since it didn't smell.

You have to play all motion comics. Don't know the exact term at the moment, but you can choose to play all the motion comics, one after another. If you do, it starts and ends with a short Noland motion comic. Should be something like "play all", don't know. Can not look, since I'm not at home.

I just watched it yesterday on my projector but there wasnt any noise visible. Depending on your blu-ray player however, there could be noise in darker, murky scenes or shadow areas depending on the quality of your laser.
I had it with a cheap phillips player, now i have a samsung and it's decent. That's not only the case with Predators though, so it's not really a technical error with the disc but rather depends on the equipment one has, could also be your tv.
Ok, but what's weird is that on the DVD version those two shots I talked about have no visable noise in the backround. Look at those two shots again, look very closely, it only lasts for a second. I'm telling you theirs visable noise.

Yeah, I see the noise you're talking about. They aren't the only times it happens either, to varying degrees.

Is it just for me, or can you not bookmark scenes in this Blu-Ray. I bookmarked scenes on my Blu-Ray player for this movie, but whenever I go back to it, there's no record of any bookmarks. It's like they're all deleted the moment I take the disc out of the player.

I've noticed that too. There is visible noise in that shot.
There is also explanation why some people see it, and some not, and why its not visible on DVD. I've just changed my TV settings, switch off some sharpening effects that I usually use (Toshiba's Resolution+) and its gone. It is not visible on DVD because DVD has too small resolution and it is all blurred.

Is there a Stans Motion Comic in the first place? There wasn't one on the blu-ray.
The Stans Motion Comic was at the site I posted above, but apparently that site has been taken down so that Motion Comic effectively doesn't exist anymore unless someone managed to copy the vid. There was no talking in the vid like in the other Motion Comics, there were only boxes that you read out of.

No, I think this Motion Comic was just to get people to go to this viral site or whatever it was; like I said earlier, it wasn't much of a Motion Comic, no voice acting or anything like the ones on the Blu-Ray. 85 might have a copy of the vid, though, check earlier in this thread.

Thank you for posting the link. I think that this is my favourite motion comic, despite it having no dialogue. I haven't seen in Predators in a long time. I think I'm going to watch it again after this.

Wondering if anyone could grab me a screenshot from the Blue Ray special features? I am looking for the title cards for each of the motion comics, and am missing three:
- Noland pt 1
- Hanzo
- Noland pt 2
I attached four of the others for example.
If anyone is able to assist, I appreciate it - if there is no true title card in the motion comic, I'll use any screenshot with the character in it.
Quality does not matter, I will use them as thumbnails so event a Prnt Scrn would work. I appreciate the effort if anyone has a chance that owns the BD or DVD.
I wonder if the motion comic stories or one of them, was intended to part of the film, at one point.
