.... see what requires a retcon of A3 or what Rebecca Jorden .....

Newt. Her name was Newt. Nobody called her Rebecca except her late brother, Timmy.

Could the BLOMKAMP/ RIPLEY storyline be ressurected as a Television series? Would that work? I dunno.

I don't think so; I really do believe that NB was channelling Dr Sam Becket off of Quantum Leap and was just setting right what once went wrong. I think his AL II ENS would have been a one-shot, torch-passing and setting the ghost of Rippers and Hicks to rest in a satisfying way (as most would have it, I don't want to get in to the whole "But 3 was perfect" thing again). I don't think after that movie, we'd see more of Rippers and Hicks - I think as has been said that Newt would have carried on the fight.

Also - if there ARE further Alien movies in the offing, wouldn't Fox be worried about "confusing" fans (or underestimating their audiences as Corp Hicks said!).

I reckon the proposed TV show WON'T have anything to do with anyone we know, but will heavily reference them and nod and wink for all its worth to ground people (that's my guess - I can't see them setting it post Resurrection, but you never know). I can only imagine this'd be in the "classic" era.

Well fan is short for fanatic but in fairness, some of us are more rational and objective than others. You have some of us that can objectively criticise a movie, book and game, even if it has our favorite monster in it and you get some that will absolutely love the worst movie/book/game ever just because it has their favorite monster in it.

Worst movie/book/game defined by whom? See this is where the blade shows its sharpness on both sides, the "fanboy" who likes everything and the "pretentious fan" that expresses condemnation towards fans who like certain output.

I enjoyed "The Predator". I am rational, well spoken, realize there are many faults with the film's execution (especially narratively) yet still found enjoyment with the film.  For those feelings, I have been mocked for my opinion in this very forum, on more than one occasion.  I have no qualms with people disliking the film, or expressing their dislike, but we all should welcome a fan environment that allows all of us to express our views without condemnation.

And one general note regarding "AvP Requiem".  While the film sits with a lowly 11% positive critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, that does mean 11% of critics enjoyed the film enough to give it a fresh rating and a recommendation... and among those recommendations were Variety and Entertainment Weekly.  So if someone here likes that movie, more power to them.

Having the minority opinion doesn't make someone's opinion wrong, it just simply means you're in the minority.

Hahahahahahaha no just stop. They are awful movies with nothing redeemable about them.  The problem with what you are saying is if we ever have a chance of getting a good movie out of these IPs again, people need to stop giving caveats and saying crap like, "its better than not getting another movie".

SM

So people need to stop voicing their opinion on some piece of make believe, because someone condescendingly tells them to "just stop".

Yeah good luck with that.

Thus sayeth, the internet  :D

Voodoo Magic

Next up, everyone's favorite:  'If you liked it, you're not a real fan!"  ::)

Huggs

Are the "real fans" the ones who want heavily armed powerloaders and splosions? or just more Ridley robots and philosophy? I can't remember anymore.  ;)

I'm just waiting for the memes where xenos are pointing fingers at either Ridley or Cameron and screaming, "You're not my real dad!".

Am I allowed to like both Aliens and AVP:R? I do. Honestly I think every movie in the franchise has something to offer.

Alien - masterpiece
Aliens - masterpiece
Alien 3 - amazing atmosphere
Alien: Resurrection - amazing art direction
Prometheus - introduction to new and interesting lore
Alien: Covenant - best story in the series imo
AVP - good pacing, nice sets, best predator mask ( celtic )
AVP:R - awesome predator, grotesque death scenes
Predator - masterpiece
Predator 2 - brutal sequel
Predators - interesting new lore
The Predator - funniest movie in the franchise by far

I guess I'm a fanboy. I like all the movies from both franchises for a variety of different reasons. I admit the quality of a couple of them are iffy ( AVP:R and The Predator ), but there is something good about all of these movies imo. I wouldn't be opposed to rebooting the AVP series entirely though. I'm kind of hoping The Predator is ignored going forward too. It was just too ridiculous for my taste lore wise, but I can see why people could like each movie.

I'd deleted your first attempt at posting this for a reason. Granted, this one is less insulting but it's still wrong. People are entitled to their opinions, even if they differ to yours.

Mr. Xenomorph

Were all of the Xenos going to have four arms, or was this one molting into a queen??

Unknown. It may have been some sort of genetic mutation or experimentation.

Im not wrong. I maybe abrasive at times and extremely opinionated, but the truth is if even 10% of people like these crappy movies they been pumping down the pipes using the Predator IP, then the studios will continue to make them. But i guess there's no account for taste huh? I dont think its wrong to expect more than some watered down, marvel influenced, shoulda been direct to dvd predator movie. The ground work was laid with the first two movies for them to make something that doesn't need to jump the shark. Special needs kids reading alien languages using their ailment as super power? Seriously? Thats a big part of the plot and people eat it up? Its offensive stupid lazy writing. Thats just one of a movie which is nothing but a grab bag of crap like it. Next thing on the list to be in the movies im sure is to bring in big titted predators because people cant seem to drop what was a deviant art flap-drawing and move on. These arent even films anymore. They are cash grab summer movies.
