So is this what Scott was talking about when he said that the project would still have "Alien DNA"?

Much of the story is being kept under wraps, but Scott has said the movie will have the "Alien DNA", whatever that means. The project has become something "more original," an the Jon Spaihts draft has been reworked by Scott and Damon Lindelof. Scott says Prometheus has "a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place" and "the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative." Damon Lindelof has called the project "daring, visceral and hopefully, the last thing anyone expects."
The common usage of "Prometheus" is a character in Greek mythology, a Titan, "a champion of mankind, known for his wily intelligence, who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mortals" according to Wikipedia. That notion of taking from the more fortunate to help the less fortunate fits in perfectly with what the guys at ScriptFlags think Prometheus is in the new Scott film. Apparently, in one of Spaihts's other scripts called Shadow 19, there's a terraforming ship that's called...you guessed it, Prometheus. Terraforming is the idea of physically making other planets habitable because of Earth's decline which has become a regular theme in modern science fiction.
Ridley Scott is directing the movie, which will be released on June 8th, 2012.

The other reports are stating she's in talks to join, not that she has joined.
I read she's in "final talks" to appear, so it's as good as done I think :P
Yeah - i read she's in final negotiations to appear but that she's all but won the role so it's hers if she wants it, more or less. I'm definitely a fan of this development though as she adds eye candy to the film in addition to star power and actual acting talent. All 3 are of the good variety.
It is safe to assume that one of the 2 vacant male roles will go to Russell Crowe LOL, I kid.

I'm not sure the other two roles are male. A few months ago the Vulture website said another character was female called "Truks", while the other was a wealthy business man along for the ride (no name given). They were right about Elizabeth Shaw being the lead female character name, so that other character information could still be relevant now.
The idea of a 'wealthy business man along for the ride' screams 'Burke Carter, J to me. I hope it doesn't go in the direction I suspect.
Give me Burke over Charles Bishop Weyland anyday.

She is hot.....she was good in Monster but she is too cute/hot to blend in a serious alien style film....
Ridley was wise to cast Sigourney Weaver for alien 1.
I cant imagine that cute face to be badass...except if we want a lead actress like angelina jolie in tomb raider with all that fake,over the edge badass style.
IMO...if the lead actress is too hot it looks bit unreal in such a dark film.
A sexy actress in the main role will be just a distraction....it might work but it will work better with a less beautiful woman.

C.Theron is ugly and paranoid in that movie....Sigourney wasnt so ugly and...she had a natural badass face/look.
Compare them based on their ''normal'' looks....i dont think that if she takes the role she is going to use make up and effects so to look like in Monster again dude.
If they have to ''change'' her face like they did in ''Monster'' with EXTREME make up then hundreds of actresses can get the role.......so why not to replace Theron with Jenna Jameson hahahahahahaha!

What point? You're telling me it's a matter of makeup now? That has nothing to do with it. The end result is the same, makeup or not. Charlize Theron was a killer even if she had to alter her face a little.

Anyways, nobody looks "too pretty" for an Alien film. They just need to be able to act, and the crew just needs to not be shy about applying makeup. Simple as that.

Yeah... I caught part of Heartbreakers on TV a few days ago (not the greatest film ever made) but I was pretty surprised by how good she looked in it.
