It was a short video.
It was poor quality and you couldn't see the screen so well.
This tells us pretty much nothing about the game except you use motion trackers, pistols and pulse rifles.

The resolution is so bad that I really can't tell if this is the game I've been waiting for or just some Aliens mod for some other game on someone's desktop. Either way, can anyone confirm that this footage is from the 360, PS3, or PC?

The "Entire Vid" shows how dedicated Gearbox is to the Alien franchise. Concept art for the game appears to be on their hallways as well as littered on the walls of their offices. Yes, they made a REAL pulse rifle too. The whole thing is a fresh relief because at the core, its obvious that these guys are hardcore Alien geeks that really want to give the game the justice it deserves. I'm glad the franchise found such a good home this time. They are nothing like the writers and directors that have plagued the films over the last two decades.

Corrine the dev that is leaving GBX is the director of technology. She was talking about the engine coding I think. She's basically saying all the game features now have code and are up and running. Her replacements will be the ones fixing any bugs that will crop up. I imagine the game as a whole still has a long way to go when it comes to level design, building resources for the game etc. I think its only just approaching beta.
And the beta phase is just as work heavy as the alpha stage, if not more so due to all the fine tunning of game mechanics, balancing and testing etc.
Gearbox don't really like to rush bug ridden games out the door either (thank god). So I think we will see a few more release date slips before we eventually get to play this game in 09.

I was expecting it to be something similar to Doom3 with it being very dark and you needing a torch a lot of the time. A lot of people find that annoying but it's what makes it scary. Judging from the brightness on that clip you're not going to get as much of a fright when an Alien leaps right at you.

Doom 3 failed at that back when I played, a very dark setting is pretty dumb if they want to scare the crap out of you, sudden surprises is what gets me, not a damn game that tries to hard to scare you that it fails.

It sure as hell scared me! Not only that, the disfigured creatures and symbols you find on the walls really got under my skin. Perhaps the same thing can happen if we see people cocooned against the walls in this game.

Concept art is bad because it gets you hyped up then half of the really good stuff never makes it into the final product.
So no, I haven't seen any, I wasn't really paying much attention on the game forums til I saw this thread. usually I don't spend ages talkign about a game before it comes out because I have better things to do and it makes the wait for the game worse.

I doubt ass-rape. Even if it gets like a 80% it's direction is still a step ahead of what we want. If anything I think the RPG ends up doing badly.

I agree. We have all waited for the perfect Aliens game . The closest we ever got was AvP2 on PC. Kick ass game but this Colonial Marines could be what we have all been waiting for.
If this game works out it could relight the Aliens fan base.

Let me tell you something, if this games fails I swear to god I will log out of this site and never come back again. Heck, I'll even put away all my Alien and Pred figures in a little box and totally move on to another franchise.
Heck, this game better me more than good! It better be a f**king masterpiece that inspires more ACM games. Nothing short of it.
This game better have insane graphics, a good story, good voice acting, a kick ass score and an awesome multiplayer where new maps and cool mods all always keeping the game on the cutting edge.....and nothing short of it. It better be epic, scary and nothing short than impressive. They better work hard on this game, they better take their time.

Why would you abandon the franchise? It's not like it should stop you from enjoying what once was. It wont make the game better either. All you can do is continue to love what made Alien great. Throwing away the franchise based on a game is just silly.

I just watched the footage, and I noticed the way that you only had to empty a bullet or two into an alien to get it to explode in a shower of green blood. Not a good sign.

They are trying to get to be as accurate as possible to ALIENS. In ALIENS 4-6 shots from a Pulse Rifle to a Xeno's head would kill it. Plus Gearbox is going to make this game as close as possible so we can not know what will and what will not change.

The pulse rifle does look better in this one but when you used to play FPS for 14 hours did the game have online? These days developers want you to finish a game and play online. If you dont have online these days you are missing out

To me I think it looks very impressive considering the stage it was at. Not many things I would have changed.
1. Acid Bloods glows too much/too yellow.
2. I would position the Pulse Rifle differently.
3. Add a few improvements such as the hands not being so stiff when moving.

They have already acknowledged the release date they said it will be out after AVP3 some time in mid or later the year of 2010, so you will have to wait they are being patient with it just wait for avp3.

It really depends. Personally I do not know which game will have more replay value. Obviously AvP3 has MP and A:CM will have a bunch of CO-OP. Just not sure.

Yeah, I am Finding my self Drawn to A:Cm Board more and more recently. I've Looked forward to this more then Avp from day one. I can't wait for Avp but A:Cm still has the edge over it though. Sega Should release a Video with The launch of Avp Just to make Newbs to the franchise have a look at A:Cm.

From those elven seconds I saw...did anyone else notice the aliens in this game look smoother? Is it cuz they arnt ridge heads or are they? Idk just the xenos themselves look...different.

Why shouldn't the fans get excited about ACM? It doesn't do any harm. In fact showing support for the game will help spread awareness of it. I for one am glad the fans are still backing Gearbox's Aliens game, it's a game with a lot of potential. It sends a message to SEGA, that the fans are still very eager to get back to what made the franchise great in the first place, and that they are ready for something different.
Plus GBX have a great track record, so I see no reason to throw doubt in there direction just because we haven't heard anything on the game in sometime. I mean, that is SEGA's decision, not Gearbox afterall. Randy Pitchford said on a couple of occasions that he really wants to show the game off, but that SEGA are calling the shots and they want all focus on AvP right now.
As for reasons to get excited, so far what we have seen is extremely accurate to the movies. It shows how committed the devs are to getting the source material just right. Also there's the fact so many talented people have been involved in some capacity, like the BSG writers, and the artists Syd Mead and Craig Mullins. GBX even sat down with Ridley Scott at one point and got his thoughts on the back story of the Alien and Jockey. The only thing missing is Cameron's input, but even without it, well... its kinda hard NOT to get excited about it IMO. ;D
Anyway my point is that I don't think it does any damage if the fans get a little carried away by looking forward to this game. :)

The fact that GBX has a great track record and the fact that A:CM seems to not adhere to the shitty fanfiction-ish, comicy plots and styles of the AvP games gives us fans enough reason to be hyped for it.

Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said why I think it'll be better, but I will reaffirm my point that everything going on in the A:CM forum is called hype, not elitism. Part of hype is comparing upcoming games with other games.

It is a different opinion to yours, but that doesn't make it elitism. Just makes it a different opinion. There has to be something in the world that you don't like that others do. Does that make you elitist in their eyes?
Your remarks make it sound like we aren't allowed to be excited about the game we have been looking forward to for ages.
And no, I'm not interested in a pissing contest. I don't want or need the hassle. But if you have reliable information on ACM's development delay, it would be nice to hear. Not that it matters, since the game is back in development and seems to be going well according to the last we heard from the devs, but I do like to get my facts straight so that I don't mislead people. PS. I'm not gonna lie, I miss the old Hicks that visited the GBX forum regularly and was as excited about this game as many of us still are. :(

I'm still Hicks, I was just offended by some people's attitude to AvP. I'm not claiming AvP to be superior to the game, I'd just like a little finesse in the way people handle their posts. For ages I've seen nothing other than how AvP is so inferior to ACM and it does indeed annoy me.
And the comment was in reference to the delays behind ACM originally. We'd been informed it was due to the current builds that GBX showing Sega at the time not passing the quality tests. It wasn't to the standard Sega wanted it. But like has been said , that was ages ago. The game has practically been rebuilt. I'm sure a lot of what we know doesn't even apply to the current iteration of the game.
I'm still looking forward the ACM. Don't get me wrong. I think it's gonna be a whole different kind of game than AvP and will be awesome for that. I'm an Alien fan all around, I'm not gonna pick and choose which I'll love or hate before hand.

ACM is the one game im most excited about. AvP will be fun, it will be a great online experience, and the SP will be fun, but in the end, Gearbox has the upper hand. They are sticking to the canon of Aliens. Which in my opinion is the right way to go. Again, my opinion. I'll play the sh!t outa AvP, but i have a feeling ACM will be a true epic take on the franchise. Gearbox is the sh!t, they did sooo well with Borderlands, ACM will do the same if not better. Plus they are sticking with the classic weapon models which look incredible, in my opinion.

This is one thing I think they will get right since the Xenos are going to be the main enemy they need to look their best. Plus they could already be the right size since we have not see a real good comparison of the Marine and Alien yet.

I just seriously hope it does not turn out like the other games and have a messed up timeline or make the marines look completely stupid. seriously why does that always happen? if you actually look at it technically the marines in "Aliens" had a pretty good kill ratio, i mean seriously it had to at least be 30 or 40 to 1. Yet in all of the games the marines are made to look stupid and completely useless and cowardly....I am so sick of it, even in the new AVP game, which isnt that bad marines are still made to look stupid. I am not even going to bring up the AVP movies, i almost had to turn my head in all of them. the good thing about this one is the fact that the creators actually really do love the franchise and realize they have been stealing from it most of their lives for their games.

Its probably more like 5-15:1 for the kill ratio of Marines in ALIENS and that is for the ones who actually lived past the hive ambush scene, but since we are the marines in this game I doubt they will make our squad look completely stupid especially since we will be giving them orders considering its supposed to be squad based with you as the squad leader.

That is in game and looks like the same quality as the other screen shots for A:CM. We can't tell the quality of the 11 seconds for obvious reasons.
We know its in game because they told us they used all the in game materials but placed the character/xeno models in that part just to give us an idea.

why cant you tell quality of the video. i can see that it looks very bland and the textures are poor. even from the the image above it looks late last gen at best.

Sorry folks. I love Doom 3. One of my favorites.
Hopefully this game will go on my favorites list. From the footage, the art and the screens, it seems I will be genuinly frightened (esp by those damn facehuggers jumping at my face). It will be good (and bad) to feel that again.

I bet it hasn't. I doubt GBX devoted any significant amount of development resources or time on this game at all in the past few years. All of their attention was on Borderlands. Just because we haven't seen any new footage doesn't necessarily mean the game looks vastly different now. They need to be working on the game for that to happen...

Many times have forum members such as Takhen, Ikarop and others have found things such as animations, concept, etc, that was obviously for Aliens: Colonial Marines. You can look at many of the threads in Gearbox, most of the more recent ones will be things such as that.

Until we see new pics or videos it is very questionable about just how much development has gone into this game. I've seen those animations too, Chris. The problem with them is that they are not in-game quality and the one video that we have for reference doesn't really show us too much because its short and the quality sucks. The game could still look like it did when the leaked footage made it to the internet or it could be miles ahead of it.
I'm inclined to believe its not because GBX never has anything official to say about it and they even went on the record to say that their focus on A:CM was redirected towards Borderlands for a significant amount of time before Borderlands got released. Contrary to what some people here want to believe, I doubt anyone has worked on this project around the clock since 2007.

If A:CM looks that same as it did when the 11 seconds of footage was released, I doubt you will need that much capability to play it smoothly. Any regular computer built within the last 10 years should do.
...then again, I don't think the Palit 470 is designed to play games that turn into vaporware either, which is what seems to be happening to A:CM at the moment. DNF, on the other hand, looks seriously badass and will definitely benefit from a Palit 470.

Has. Has stole the show. :-\ All mentions of GBX at PAX are around DNF and Borderlands. The only mention of ACM has been the G4TV article and no descriptions of the screenshots.

Correct i guess, most of their attention was on Borderlands and i'm guessing it shifted to Duke Nukem, now with both of those products finished, I can't see why not they would be working on A:CM by now, that said, didn't they say they anounced the game too early to begin with? So any footage or screenshots we've seen can be up to two years old by now. As a average game development time is two to three years, any more than that the development company will be hardly be making a profit on the game.

They are a multi-project studio, development on one project doesn't stop when another is started.
