We all know it's Blade Runner quote but it might also refer to WY motto: Building Better Worlds. Blomkamp likes riddles?

I think it's his un-official way of telling us it's back on, he knows that we'll know it's a "Blade Runner" quote but he also knows the mere mention of a colony will also makes us think of "Aliens"; I choose to believe it's not over yet.

Or this is proof that Alien 5 has been canned and Ridley's thrown him a Blade Runner shaped bone.

Until I see evidence to the contrary, I shall take this as to mean that there is something brewing regarding Alien 5.  Perhaps that petition had an impact after all?  =)

So a quote about an unrelated film, about a director who makes scifi movies, is absolute proof of work on a new Alien movie?

I'm not sure its as obvious as all that, but I'm pretty convinced its not just a random quote - he's a bit of a master at making the internet "lose its mind."

Now he just has to quote "Just something from a film I like" and launch a thousand conspiracies.

Why does anyone even care what he has to say anyway? I don't bother with twitter or him but last I understand it, he hasn't anything to do with alien now.

I don't think that we lost our minds. If I'm not mistaken Neil hasn't quoted anything from BR before. It might be random and then it means nothing at all. But It also might be a message. We don't know. That's all.

Almost as embarrassing as thinking there is a sequel to Blade Runner 2049 when that movie is still deep in post production...

Using a Blade Runner quote to hint at the continued existence of Alien 5 makes sense in Blade Runner was directed by Ridley Scott and as we all know, Ridley Scott is an Executive Producer on Alien 5.  Maybe some kind of agreement or compromise has been reached with Ridley and this is Blomkamp's way of hinting that has occurred.

I don't see the harm in them being in the same universe, so the easter egg in Prometheus is a nice nod to that.

Yeah, there's two computer graphic sequences that were recycled from Alien in Blade Runner. As well as the humming sound in Deckard's apartment. They were used simply because Scott liked the look of the graphics and the sound effect. Luckily few know about the Millennium Falcon model in Blade Runner or people would be claiming it shares the same universe with Star Wars as well.

Ridley was toying with the idea of adding Blade Runner elements in Prometheus, the Roy Batty mercenary for example. Another idea of Scott was to call Weyland Corp, the Weyland-Tyrell Corporation instead Never made it to the screen though, maybe he changed his mind or maybe it was simply a case of not being able to use another company's IP in a Fox film. And a good thing in my opinion.

Very good thing indeed that it never happened. I would hate BR and Alien sharing the same universe. It would have been the cheesiest heresy ever.

Roy Batty in Prometheus? As a character (Jesus!) from BR or just guy with identical name? Do you have a link?

As an actual character, I assume Batty would have been mass produced. Combat model - optimum self sufficiency.  :)
Scott also wanted to cast Rutger Hauer as Mr. Weyland at one point. Can you imagine the mess all this would have created?

Nah, apparently Sharlto Copley couldn't cop the role. Turk is way too complex and nuanced a character. Which is why they hired Daniel Day-Lewis instead. He's currently playing ACM 20 hours a day for the next several years to prepare for the role.
