Lionsgate has Borderlands now in works for a video game movie adaption. I'm surprise they are not doing Fallout instead.

Steven Spielberg made a movie of the book as well starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, but it isn't as good as the book.

Never played the original game, so no idea how well it resembles the tone or characters of that.
But this looks like some boisterous, switch-off-your-brain, goofiness...which I'll probably check out at some point when I'm in the mood for a bit of that.
