Same! However much it was a punch in the gut when I was a kid, I can unobjectively say Starship Troopers was the best Alien film of 1997 (For those who don't know our precious 4th installment, Alien Resurrection, came out that year).
Starship troopers was so so so good. One of my most played DVD's back in the day.
Interesting thought...I have read (or maybe assumed) this is taking place in present day. Mr. Busey could be playing the son of Keyes or maybe (flashbacks or if this isn't in present day) a younger Keyes? Autism started "gaining steam"(for the lack of a better word) in the 70s. However, the cast photos reveal a pretty current timeline...just throwing things out there.

This cast is shaping up for a solid B movie.
Say what you want. I loved Gary Busey in Predator 2. I also loved his son in the movie roles hes done in the past especially Contact and Starship Troopers. This is great news.

Yeah Jake Busey and Thomas Jane give this movie a real B-movie flavor, but Shane will elevate it.
The truth is, it was a hard sell for all of the actors Shane wanted because Predator is not seen as a cool property. I think... I think... That after this movie turns out to be a pleasant surprise, that it'll be easier to get ACTOR actors for the next one. Heck, even a cast on the level of the new Kong movie's. Predators maybe moved the mark one rung up, but that's hardly enough goodwill to make up for three absolute calamitous misfires. I mean... AvP:R is one of thee worst movies that's ever been put to celluloid. Breathtaking.
The only actor that truly, truly had an intractable schedule was Bradley Cooper who is not available for anything until 8-2017.
Great choice by Mr. Busey...if this thing is great...his career could skyrocket. You are only one role away from stardom....so they say.

My favourite Jake Busey role is in The Frighteners, where he plays the main villain.
He has a freaky look so I like that... the original predator had some scary characters also
I hope he plays Keyes' son but I have a feeling he will play a character with 1 or 2 lines and be a small nod to fans of the series. I'm imagining Sterling K. Brown being the head of some government agents, Keyes acts as his right hand man just like Garber in P2, then Brown dies leaving Keyes to head the unit in the sequel.

He was great in the Frighteners, and Identity.

I saw it too, I walked out of the theater to hear my wife say that was one of the best movies I've seen in a longtime! I was like floored by her opinion of the movie, she's not big on comic book movies.

This is the most exciting casting news I've heard since Benicio was first mooted. Not only do I like Jake (OK, he's been cast in some appalling films over the years, but he's also played the single most memorable space marine outside of Aliens, Ace Levy), it also hints that perhaps we'll be seeing OWLF again, which I'd love.

I think its hilarious that Jake Busey is in the movie... I'm leaning towards a flashback on a videotape from with him AS Keyes rather than "son of Keyes" ... (though I guess all character motivation is right there for him to follow in Keyes's footsteps).
If they go down "son of Keyes" route - those are epic shoes to fill. Still - Black and Decker (I just can't take that seriously, I'm sorry) are smart writers both - they can make the dialogue zing which is what you need for Keyes. "The lions. The tigers. Oh, my." (I wonder as I type if Gary Busey just improved "oh, my").
Difficult one of its son of Keyes - because the temptation will be to have him as "more of Keyes". Would we be disappointed if son of Keyes was a quiet, studious Dana Sculley type of investigator looking into the scientific side of things?
The temptation is "more Keyes" right? But we've already had Keyes and as I say above - big shoes to fill.

Shane shot a movie with Busey in 2016 and they are in contact since then, writing each other on Facebook and stuff. So his casting is probably because of that connection and his role will probably be small, and not because he's playing the son of Peter Keyes.
That would be fun though, but unlikely.

I don't think so, when Augusto Aguilera was announced, they said he was the last of the "squad" of Predator hunters, so basically the last with a significant role.
Busey will probably be in a smaller military role, that's not so important to the story.
