Predator: The Original Years Omnibus Volume 1 coming in August 2021



The DM cover is the cover to the first ever Predator comic and I am glad to say that the regular cover is not by Greg Land. But by Iban Coello. He has done great work on the current Venom run.

It's a nice cover.

Nope. Their original press release confirmed that they have original material coming in 2021, though they haven't announced any of it specifically yet.

Doesn't look like there's any blow-away first time reprints this time around. But still a damn good collection, and another big one.

I don't think Predator 2 was ever collected.

It was collected in the Essentials #1.

Nice lineup for the first omnibus. We knew they'd exclude the DC crossovers, did we know they'd exclude the Magnus Robot Fight Valiant crossover?

Hell and Hot Water was actually fully released before DHP 124, but I assume the exclusion from this omni might be due to page constraints?

What is a genuinely disappointing exclusion is the Hunting the Heroes stories: Predator vs X/Motorhead/Ghost/Agents of Law. I know those characters are still owned by Dark Horse, but this is probably DH's only opportunity to create some (minor) reprint revenue off those short stories. I guess one side (or both) didn't want to do business on this one.

Good find guys, that cover looks rad. I might be wrong but all the Darkhorse Press stuff was collected in the Omnibuses right?

Some of those DHP stories i dont think i have so yep, Im getting this as well as a controversy free version of Aliens Omnibus #1 lol

I did the quick (rough) math and this omnibus contains about 43 singles worth of comics, and there's only ~49 left (leaving out crossovers) so all but certain this will be a two-volume run.

I already have Dark Horse's Predator Omnibus Vol 1. So i don't think i'll get this.

I know. But i am not sure its worth it spend that extra money.

If it don't have the other volumes with these comics in, perhaps. But this to introduce Alien and Predator a whole new Marvel audience who might not have known about them on original release or the various re-releases.

I still don't understand the point of another Omanibus collection when we just had one not too long ago. Unless its a collection of stories that didn't make it in the first run, why use Dark Horse stories if you aren't going to follow where they left off?

Doing something like this is to get people aware of the character and with something as mainstream as Marvel, this will be a lot of people's introduction to the Predator. This also has the benefit of Marvel readers being a bit more willing to invest in the character long-term if they have a primer with the older stories to kind of know what to expect. So yeah it's another new trade but it's another new trade with a bunch of new eyes on it that otherwise either didn't know about Darkhorse or just wasn't willing to give the company a chance.

Yeah, ok. That actually makes sense, I can get behind this. Its just going to sting a bit knowing that there might be a possibility of these stories no longer being touched upon in future stories.

I didn't know about the Greg Land bull shit until this post. Wow - how does that guy still have a job? Or not been blackballed in the industry?

Because marvel ain't as good it once was marvel let this happen and most of the new star wars ship you see in the comic stolen fan ships if you don't believe me just look it up

While only a rumor I heard he was protected by Joe Quesada. Unfortunately Land just got deadlines and so he was protected by the company (presumably). You can be easy to work with, meet deadlines, and provide good quality work. You can only have two and Land decided to skip quality for being a tracer of others work and porn. He's mocked for good reason.

Salavador Larroca is one of these as well who traced to meet deadlines.

They're pricey ones because they're a lot bigger. I worked the math out on the Alien one and it's fair pricing.

As long as the page dimensions stay bigger, i.e. not like the shrunken pages of DH's omnibuses, I'm in.

As long as they use the same paper type they use for the recently reprinted earth wars trilogy and don't change hicks into Wilks i am fine

We don't know for sure, but I expect it'll be the originals.

You're right. I didn't notice that down there when I first saw it, since I've always mostly just used solicits to look for singles. So I guess the Amazon date was indeed correct.

According to all the retailers this one should now be available.

It's not out until December. Omar from Near Mint Condition has his review copy so at least it exists and will be out soon, for sure this time.
