Regarding the atmosphere of the game, are you attempting to channel the horror genre for video games, as opposed to action?

What is your opinion of Aliens: Colonial Marines, and what are you seeking to do differently, if anything?

What are y'all seeking to accomplish/establish by utilizing Ripley's daughter as the main character?

It seems, from the limited footage we have seen, the game resembles the original movie in a lot of ways. Will there be any major distinguishing factors separating the two?

Is this meant to be the only installment?

I got a question: how close are you looking at the desings made by h.r giger for the film? We will see another giger-designed creature or landscape besides the xeno?

Will there be multiple versions of the game (i.e., collectors edition, limited edition, etc...)?

Will there be any DLC packs of any sort?

Will there be any pre-order bonuses/incentives?

Is there going to be any sort of replayability after initially completing the campaign?

When will we get to see an achievement/trophy list?

Is there any references to Prometheus or the upcoming rumored Prometheus sequel?

Has Ridley Scott had any involvement or met with your team to talk about the vision behind the original alien film?

Is there any references to, and/or storyline tie-ins to, the new book "out of the shadows"?

After aliens: colonial marines was released, did you recieve any negative backlash from fox or sega? And was there any talk about canceling alien isolation as a result of aliens: colonial marines' poor reception?

Are there plans for, or a possibility for, an alien isolation sequel? I did not come up with this idea, I heard it from another community member here at avpgalaxy, but I think a similar style game playing as Newt prior to the arrival of Ripley and the marines in the second film could be very interesting and terrifying as well; is there a possibility for something like that?

Are there going to be different difficulty levels to the game?

Will there be any Easter eggs hidden in the game?

How fluid is the gameplay? Or in other words, are there distinct breaks between levels or will it feel like one long level from beginning to end?

Is fox endorsing your game as a true official sequel/cannon to the franchise the way they did with aliens: colonial marines?

If the alien bleeds, will there be permenant environmental damage caused by the alien's acid blood?

For the Xbox versions of the game, have you utilized the kinect in any way?

Are there any other next gen features the game will take advantage of?

For tablets and smart phones, will there be any second screen functions or companion apps to go along with the game? (i.e., second screen acts as motion tracker or something).

If I do something clever and trick the alien, but then a few minutes later I die before reaching a checkpoint, will the alien's "knowledge of my tactics" be reset to my previous check point? Or will it still have learned from my previous attempt?

Why did you think the 1979 Alien's more humanoid legs werent going to work in this videogame? Ridley and Giger wanted the creature to retain a fairly human stance because it came out of a human.

Were there any influences taken from Prometheus?

Will anything carry over from the AvP films, such as Karl Bishop Weyland? (Oh please spaghetti monster, say no...)

Is there any consideration toward the  younger generations of gamers that haven't seen the Alien films yet? How do you plan on introducing players with only basic knowledge of the franchise to this universe?

Considering Ripley never killed humans in the films. Can players use sneaking and distraction tactics to make it through the game without directly killing anyone?

How is the more humanoid AI similar or different to the ALIEN AI?

Prior Alien games have been pretty linear. How is the design team thinking about multiple paths to goals when gray boxing levels?

Can we expect an actual ending and not some forced cliffhanger ending?

In order to keep things fresh how can we expect the ALIEN AI to evolve over the course of the game?

It's been said that facehuggers, are not really in the game. Considering how iconic the lifecycle is in the franchise will we see it in some form during the game?

Thanks!

Is this game considered canon by 20th Century Fox?

Have the events of 'Alien: Out of the Shadows' and its two upcoming followup novels been taken into consideration or referenced?

Will there be a collector's edition in the same vein as 'Aliens: Colonial Marines collector's edition' and 'Aliens vs predator Ultimate Hunter Edition'?

Will fans get the opportunity to play a beta or demo prior to release?

Is 'Prometheus' referenced in any way besides the Weyland Corp logo in the family picture concept art?

Can we expect DLC and has this game been envisioned as the start of a series of games if successful, or designed to be stand alone?

What kinds of spec can PC gamers expect to be running in able to run this game in ultra settings?

Regardless of reception, did YOU consider the events of Colonial Marines canon, and did that have any influence on the game?

How long after this game is declared overdue can we expect a rescue? XD

Perhaps probably already answered but is there any weaponry in the game? Not weapons made from parts but stuff like the pistol and flamethrower from Alien.
And what role do these play during the game? Just to frighten of the creature, or just giving the player a false sense of security.

Can wounding the creature actually cause structural damage to the station as it was suggested in Alien, actually making it quite a risk when you manage to injure the creature?

NPC characters, can they actually undertake tasks on their own?

How will combat against non-alien enemies work?

Are you looking to set up a franchise with this game, or is it a one and done?

Will there be a demo before release?

If I were to ask a question, I guess it would be: "are you concerned at all, regarding the storyline, that Amanda Ripley's survival is an already pre-determined outcome, given that we know she dies an elderly, married woman?"

What kind of role does Weyland-Yutani play into the story?

Will there be any chance at playing as an alien?

Any plans for DLC?

Will any of the unreleased movie material come with the game?

How much of the game will take place on the space station?

My questions: are you guys aware of the unpopularity of your design for the alien among the fans who know it best?  Are you even willing to consider changing it to better match HRG's original design?

My questions....? (some may of been asked)

I like the look of the new retro Motion Tracker... But will we get to use a similar device that Ash makes in the film "Alien" were it only picks up sound/air density and it has no screen to pin point movement. Maybe if the game has a hard difficulty you could replace the new motion tracker with the films sound motion tracker?

In the Alien film, when the beast in on screen you can hear the alien make a strange mechanical hissing cricket sound. Are you going to put this sound FX in the game? it is easily missed if you dont pay attention... But if you watch the film on Blu-ray you can clearly hear this strange sound that is unique to the alien from the the first film.

Will the be a level were Amanda explorers the derelict for clues?

You have to put a Cat and Hamsters some were in the game.

Please Egg Morphing.

Will the Alien do a Crab Walk some were in the game?

Is the creature going to be more sexual, then Bug like? i mean as in the way it acts towards humans.

As you know, the pulse rifle has never been more screwed up more than in the game versions. Will Alien :Isolation screw up the   infamous TORCH sound effect that Ripley uses in the first movie? Or your originality and creative team allow it to be canon?
Title: Re: Alien: Isolation Q&A with Creative Assembly

I recall watching Alien on the big screen in Los Angeles in 1979; it scared the hell out of me (I was not a teenager yet).

None of the follow-up movies scared me in the slightest, though, Aliens was an intense movie - for its time.

That said, I have to agree with the statement made about the "unpopularity" of certain Alien renditions; I prefer the Alien from the original movie - Giger's Alien; the rest weren't... scary.  They simply looked like someone went wild with a box of Lincoln Logs, Lego's and a hot-glue gun.

So my question is thus (reiterating what another said):  Would you be willing to re-render the Alien to make it look closer to Giger's, or are you stuck on playing with Lincoln logs, lego's and a hot-glue gun?

1. Is there a story reason for the Alien's increased size?
2. The most noticeable change to the creature design is the legs, what was the reasoning for the deviation from Giger's original design?
3. Will Amanda be a silent protagonist?
4. Will there be multiple endings?
5. Will you have conversational choices with other people?
5a. Will making difference choices impact the ultimate outcomes / how the story progresses?
6. What aspect of the game are you most excited / proud about?
7. In one sentence what would your message me to the fan base regarding this game?
8. Have you been actively making changes to the build / game based on feedback from reviewers / blogs / forums?
9. What does Amanda eat for breakfast?
10. What is the worst aspect of the game / what would you like to improve?

The tracker has a screen in Alien.  It's what Lambert watches Dallas and the Alien on.

It has many close-ups throughout the scene.

"Was the possibility of a multiplayer co-op mode considered? Something that would let multiple players work together to try to flush an Alien out of the ship, like the original film, for example?"

2)Will Amanda found out what happened to her mother in this one or will there be dlc that has Amanda going to other locations to get answers?
3)Will there be any reference to (Prometheus 2)...Has Sir Ridley Scott had any involvement with this project in terms of hidden easter eggs that pertains to the incoming sequel that will shortly begin production???

Holy shit ive seen Alien loads of times and never realised it was the same motion tracker that lambert uses. I just had the impression it was a console or something else that Lambert uses to track Dallas with, when she watches the screen. Will have to pay close attention next time i watch Alien.

In Alien, I think the best part of the film is actually before we even see the Alien. The slow pace really sets the tone very well. (getting to know the characters, them exploring the derelict etc, us knowing as little as them) Will you be using a similar slow pace to  bring us into this story or is it going to assume we all have seen Alien and throw us straight into the slasher in space aspect of the story?

Thanks.

will it connect to prometheus?
will egg morphing be placed back into the cycle?
will there be dlc?
what will be the games replayability value? (multiplayer?coop?leaderboards)
if none of the above, will the story be open and unlinear e.g. different decisions effect some story components (multiple endings)

Why did you feel the need to change the Alien's basic design?

Does the player and and human(oid) NPCs have the same contextual animations array and behavior system as the Alien?

Are CA planning to use the AI "state machine" in any other titles?

Given the nature of the game and its premise, what kind of DLC/promotional/aftermarket items can be expected?

Why is using ripley's daughter considered "essential" for the game's plot or premise?

What specific differences can we expect in the different SKUs (PC/XB1/PS4/PS3/X360)

How long does SEGA intend to support the game?

How do they plan on implementing digital counterparts for the current analog control functions?

What I'm interested in is if this game will take any ideas from the C64 version of ALIEN where the player had to seal off vents, doors and other points from which the alien will have access to?  In addition, would the alien be capable of causing damage to certain sections as to which you must find a way to repair them or the station could face serious consequences?

Also on game modes will we have one that's unscripted with events happening at random?  Someone else being the android?  And what about the idea of players working together to kill or flush the alien out while doing what they can to stay alive?

Do you plan to make the xeno AI more aggressive? From the current footage the xeno behavior seems to be more passive and the AI often chooses to hide behind waist high obstacles instead to attack directly its UNARMED enemy.

Though there is no health indicator so far shown in the game, will there be a health gameplay system?
I can understand that if the xenomorph actually manages to grab is that it might be game over, but if only brushes you that doesn't immediately take the game to the save/load menu does it?

I also assume that there will be other health hazards in the game other than the xenomorph like open power conduits or falling from a great height?

Also, would there be something like adrenaline boosters? Stimpacks that temporary increase your speed but perhaps at the cost of health?

Rude questions y'all. Just let them make their addition to the franchise. They won't be able to answer the Occulus rift question now anyways and that's the only important thing. The alien design has been worked out by the developers through several iterations where it did look like the original from the start. I don't think they'll just make a 180 and go back to the original giger design.
Title: Re: Alien: Isolation Q&A with Creative Assembly
Post by: gabgrave on Jan 27, 2014, 03:09:11 PM
I also feel that the general dislike for the Alien design is like a reflex action at this point. The developers came up with the current design based on what they felt would provide the boogie man impact, instead of a sexualized predator (nothing to do with the Predator xeno).

As for a question, I'm wondering if we'll see events like the chase scene from Alien 3, where you have to bait and run from the Alien, in order to trap it, working in relays with fellow survivors. In fact, if there were multiplayer in the future for such horror survival, I would love to see how a team can escape by working together... or not.

Also, will there be cats? If there's one thing Alien taught me, it's not to search for the ****ing cat.

Q) We've seen from the demo that the Alien is definitely going to have a slow, stalking presence like in the 1979 film.  But will there be any parts where the Alien's also leaping around like in ALIENS?  After all, Ridley wanted to have an agile Alien in the air ducts scene but couldn't due to suit limitations.

Q) Will we be seeing anything new regarding the Alien creature, not seen in the films?  Like how it looks right after it sheds its skin, for example?

Not necessarily; they're things we honestly want to know. I'm sure the questions will need to be pre-approved before they will be answered, anyway.

I'm not a 'hater' myself, I'm dying to get this game. I just think that changing the design of the Alien is a major puzzler that I would very much like to hear a specific, official answer to.

Oh and seeing the human born Alien in between the chestburster and adult stage would be great as well.  But I have a strong feeling we will not see it, for it's already been stated that by the time we, the player, arrive at the Sevastopol, the Alien is already fully grown.

That second one, oh god please yes, my inner fangirl is going nuts at the prospect.

Didn't we catch a glimpse of this in alien 3? Nonetheless, I think it would be cool to see as well... :-)

I would love to see the stages of alien development. between chestburster and adult.

i know you probably have alot on your hands but im curious

1 Where there be a multiplayer mode involving guns? If not and there is a mode what would the gameplay bebased around?
2 if there isma co op mode will it be like A CM where its just distorting thestory? or will. It have its own missions, if this is true if one player is found gy the alien would this the other player to escape?, similar how ripley drops jonsey and runs away, the distracted alien investigates him instead of her?
3 in the game whose name we shall not speak, we see aliens evolving in multiplayer. Now this might be false becuase...well its a multiplayer mode, kinda like their sixth sense ability. But if its true in this universe will the alien evolve into a queen of will it strictly  alien bussiness.
4 it was stated that this game was partially inspiried from bioshock? How? By gameplay methods? Or storyline elements?

Now i could careless about those questions because i can wait. BUT ID LOVE TO SEE THIS ONE ANSWERED, you dont have ti do every one of them.

5 If Amanda survives this game is a sequel a possibility? Secondly if you make a sequel game would you be able to sum up aliens colonial marines ending? Amd if amanda survives, due to hyper sleep is it a possibility she meets hicks?

Quick question...

Is Amanda going to be referred to as 'Ripley' all through the game?
...and if so don't you think this will cause a 'disconnect' in players?

I doubt she'd be referred to as anything other than Ripley.

Usage of first names in Alien is just about non-existant.  In the films at any rate.

Yup, even in Colonial Marines Hicks is rarely referred to as Dwayne.

And no links to ACM, let it go and sit in the corner with AVPR.

I'm sure these have already been mentioned but I'd like to know:

What was the reason behind making the Alien so tall?

What was the reason behind giving the Alien Alien Resurrection style digitigrade legs, rather than the plantigrade legs it had in the original film?

Would you be willing to change the Alien Design to be more film accurate if there's significant fan feedback for it?

Will there be any DLC planned?

Do you always play as Amanda Ripley ?

Any plans for DLC ?

Are there collectables in the game ?

Who is doing the Score or are you just reusing Jerry Goldsmith's score ?

Is there 3D support ?

Is Motion Capture being used for the Alien or is it all animated ?

Do you ever fire a gun ?

Are there multiple difficulty settings ?

Does the tracker, light and tools have a unlimited power supply ?
