I think it would be a good idea to merge the previously made topics here to make a place for broader discussion condensed into one place to cut down on the number of threads that might be made.
What so far has impressed you guys the most? What are you looking forward to? Any disappointments?
I'm more interested in what can be done with in-game animation renderings, blending navigation and scripted movements, advanced dynamic facial expressions, and those insanely near-CGI (well, basically standard CGI) shaders that we saw demoed during the recent press conference. How this can play into different art directions, be they more cartooned or going for a more photo realistic feel intrigues me.
It all hinges on me if they make it so you can buy used games. It's not even that I buy many games and I tend to buy them on release - what got under my skin was the whole invasion of privacy aspect of it to me. If I buy something, its mine to do with as I please (including trade it in). Now they seemingly have said they're not gunna block it, but until I hear a (truly) concrete answer I am going to just take a reserved approach to this whole next gen thing.

It was confirmed that used games will work on the PS4. It was in an interview here on eurogamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-02-21-sony-tells-eurogamer-playstation-4-will-not-block-used-games).
I'm decidedly underwhelmed. Far as I understand these things my two year old PC is at worst on par, if not slightly better than the new PS4. My net is far too shitty to stream the BC and I don't do MP (literally 0 friends on PSN, I don't know anyone who even plays multiplayer) so it's social features have 0 appeal and I can't stream my old games, and they won't let me use the discs? f**k you Sony!
I'm going to keep my PS3 for games like The Last of Us, Star Wars and Watchdogs, and spend the money I'll save from not buying the PS4 on upgrading my current rig ready for Rome 2.

I want something more then just good graphics. PS3 offers me fantastic visuals already just saying 'its got better graphics' doesnt make me want to fork out the cash for one. I neer moar.
Not too sure on those social things too but PS needs a better social network as 360 cleans house on the online as it stands with community and such.
I'm liking the social features. Integrated sharing of screenshots/videos and streaming is quite awesome and brings a lot of possibilities from PC to consoles at last. Just look at how popular gameplay videos and game streaming have become in the past few years on PC. The fact you can now record/stream from your console without having to buy a third-party capture card is great news, no matter how you look at it.
For me just about everything sounded great, especially the ability to play PS4 games on the Vita at no extra cost. I love my Vita now as it is, but that will just make it that much more awesome. Also, being able to start playing a game before it is finished being downloaded, very cool! Can't wait for this next gen of consoles. 8) 8)
From what I've seen that consoles are a bit behind PC's. I don't really care since I haven't been a PC gamer in a long time. With consoles, they are easier then a high quality PC that can support all of the latest gaming. PC has so much requirements to play games. My Windows XP is from 2002 and it can barely run TF2.

Since they got independent of Microsoft they are free to do whatever they want. And making exclusives these days if they aren't Halo or Gears of War is really really not profitable at all. The game will be on the successor of 360 and PS3 however...

No backward compatibility, why dont they out source an emulator to a third party, plug a little memory stick device into the usb slot and have full compatibility, they could make a lot of money, but no sony wants us all to buy our old games again, Ba**ards.
If the xbox is going to be cheaper im ready to say goodbye to to playstation after 15yrs loyalty.

Me too, but I think that Sony are expecting alot outta 8Gb of RAM. I'm worried all this streaming, multi-process and no cooperative micro-devices is going to severely impact on the system.

Playstation will be putting some of its games on the PS Cloud for buyers to download, but yeah I get what you mean about the no backwards compatibility issue. Also, there is no way Xbox 720 will ever be cheaper than PS4; you will probably still have to pay for the multiplayer option and that is only going to add to the bill as the months go by.

As for the PS4 conference, I can happily say that they got my attention. Especially with their focus on ease of developing games, and on the games themselves. Now, Infamous and Killzone didn't surprise me at all, but I am still very happy to see those franchises continuing on.
I like the look of the new controller, and alot of there streaming and online social ideas are very cool.
I can't wait to hear more from them at E3, especially what Naughty Dog is working on, and hopefully the price of the system.

Mostly because even current racing games look amazing. Not sure why, but if you want great graphics, racing games seem to be some of the best choices it seems :laugh:

I too was very underwhelemed by the conference. Even as a social gamer, I just wasn't excited for all the new sharing features. It's not something I'll use often. As for graphics, Deep Down was the only one that fascinated me. The racing game sounds interesting too, aside from looking good. Haven't been on that genre for a while but that game might bring me back.

PC looks slightly better. Not that much of a difference, to be honest. And this comes from someone who plays mainly on PC.
Dude look the textures during the door sequence, then look the DoF during all the video and keep an eye on the lighting reflections which are not existent on the PS4 version :laugh:

Well, it isn't for the guys who sit on their coach in front of the TV to play for 1-2 hours. But its very noticeable for everybody who's making benchmarks on CPU/GPUs etc, reading comparison tests or for every tech junkie if you wish :laugh: The guys who made the vid said the benchmark is running on last year PC so the PS4 hardware is not even comparable to present day high end rig. Which is pretty funny because they call it a "next gen" console :o You see, they are promoting a NEXT gen console which can't run a simple DoF and other effects which run fine on already dated (but not bad) PC hardware. Its very wrong move by SONY to use such low end hardware, imo.
I honestly think gens don't apply to PC anymore.

So? This is how it will always be. PCs get updated every month practically. Consoles can't do that. Neither will the next Xbox. The whole PC vs Console discussion is pretty lame imo. Sony using the term "next gen" means its the next generation of consoles, and the graphics etc are next gen compared to what came before it. Of course a console that is trying to keep it's price under 500 bucks isnt going to be as super badass as a PC.

I hate the whole Consoles vs. PC debate. Who cares if the PS4 is one year behind PC's, the graphics still looking amazing for what they are. It's not like every person has the money to run a high-end PC ::). I think PC fanboys are just as bad as console fanboys.

Fanboy'ism of one thing over another will never make sense to me. Mac vs PC, PC vs Consoles, Xbox vs PS3, Ford vs Chevy, iOS vs Android, etc etc. The amount of hate some people put into conversations that are such a waste of time blows my mind. People need to just buy what they are into, and not hate on what they don't own (usually thats how it goes).
Comparing things is all fine and dandy, but when people go all into fanboy mode it just gets stupid and I roll my eyes. Lets take PC gamers who hate consoles and wont even consider them and bash those who do enjoy consoles... I feel bad for them. Why? Because they are missing out on some great games. Uncharted series, Halo series, Gear of War series, Ni No Kuni, Zelda series, Heavy Rain, the list goes on and on and on and on. Same goes for bashing consoles graphics when comparing them to PCs. It's no comparison, and never will be. Now like I said, it is nice when websites show games side by side (comparisons), so you can get an idea of what things look like on each platform, but why then do people have to turn that into a "see the (insert console name here) looks like crap compared to PC". I don't get it. (And all this goes the other way around to, console gamers bashing PCs).
For me, I get everything as I can afford it. I have a MAC that duel boots into Windows 7. I have owned Fords, Toyotas, and a Mitsubishi. I use STEAM, PSN, LIVE, and whatever that thing is called on the Wii. I play Halo 4, uncharted, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Zelda, and everything in-between. I use an iPhone because I prefer it over Android, not because I hate android.
As for the graphics on the PS4, I think they are great and will get everyone by for the next 6 or so years, just like the PS3 did. Sure, it can't compare to high end PCs, from this year or the last, but that's nothing new. When the PS3 first came out it couldn't compare to PCs either. PC's will have better graphics than consoles forever. If this is a shock to someone then get your head out of your ass.

This is brutal. Microsoft is quickly ramming itself into a corner that makes its next console only worth owning if you're a Halo die-hard. That's not good at all. In fact that's f**king awful. PS4 is actually becoming more and more appealing to me as a primary console.
In the whole new xbox vs new playstation thing I just quickly decided "Just worry about my xbox 360 right now".
But unless the new xbox has a change of heart with the always online and no used game policies then I may actually consider getting my first ever playstation console, the PS4.

I started off with the PS2, but then Sony pissed me off at the start of the PS3 era (I don't remember the reason why anymore). I switched to the 360 because that's what my friends were playing on. Now Microsoft screws up, and I'm crawling back to Sony with their PS4 XD

There are more reasons than just the graphics for buying a console. The games. You cannot play: Gears of War, God of War, Zelda, Metroid, Uncharted, Halo 4, Ni No Kuni, Heavy Rain, infamous, LBP, The Last of Us, Beyond 2 Souls, Dust 514, etc etc on a PC. (Legitimately ;))
And "most" games are always multi platform, that's nothing new. It's the exclusives that make a console so desirable, imo.

I've tried PC gaming. I couldn't enjoy it, at all. Every game I got for the PC, I ended up enjoying far more on consoles. Not entirely sure why.
No, the graphics are just a bonus to the PC gaming ^^ And my previous comment was based on the UE4 demo which is clearly to compare the graphics and nothing more so I can't comment on something else for that exact vid :)

$400 - $600 is still a lot of money for me since I don't have a type of job that can support it. I do love PC gaming since I started with PC gaming before I had a console. I had fun memories of me playing on my parents old MC when I was like four years old. I still miss playing Zoo Tycoon, Roller Coaster Tycoon, AVP, Age of Empires and The Movies.

I personally would prefer this generation to last a bit longer, but that won't happen. So no, I don't have console fatigue on my end. The only reason I am excited for the PS4 is because it sounds good (better than Xbox with its rumors).

I'm glad it won't, its about damn time for a new generation.The 360 is coming up to 8 years at this point. Games such as Gears Judgement and Halo 4 are about as good as it will get visually. I do feel the PS3 still has some juice left in the tank but with the PS4 coming this year, that will be irrelevant.

Preach on, brother. I barely touched my 360 outside of Halo: Reach and one or two other games. The PS4 is definitely coming home though. I'm wondering if it would be worth it to wait for the inevitable slim model though. I don't want another fat console dying on me like my first PS3 did.

Okay, I must say that this is getting to be a bit much. After the conference EVERYBODY was underwhelmed and talking a lot of shit; of course it was nothing compared to Xbox's flabbergastingly horrible conference, but a disappointment nonetheless. Now Sony is held on an infallible throne.

Pretty much. Personally, for SONY I'm expecting some real kick ass games being brought over, some awesome demos being shown off, and maybe seeing a few of the features shown in their conference being talked about more in depth, and actually working by having them show these features off live and on stage.
Microsoft, the only thing that would make me even consider buying it, would be a insanely good library of games that we are for sure going to see. I want kick ass exclusives being brought to the fold, and for Microsoft to set the record straight on all this mass confusion they've sparked. They need to tell it like it is and prove to me that I NEED it.

Halo and Activision are all Microsoft has at this point. There's a reason why they ended their conference with Call of Duty: Ghosts and not something proprietary.

Microsoft clearly doesn't have Activision, considering CoD is still fully multi-platform and Destiny is premiering its content exclusively at Sony events.
I just said that CoD is becoming of an Xbox title though. Yes it's multiplatform but whenever the title is shown off, it's always the Xbox version they use in demos and as a result, it's that one version of it that receives the most exposure. I'd bet good money it sells the most on the Xbox.
I think that's a safe bet simply because Xbox Live is the most frequently used online service for the series-- it has been since it made the series came to consoles.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, unless MS pulls off something amazing by E3 this whole next generation for me is just going to be Wii-U, PS4, and PC; all day err day. :P
Indeed. I have a feeling that maybe a couple of their new IP's might be incredible but by this point getting a console(itself) that i have no interest in just for a couple of games isn't going to happen. I wanted them to wow me with the system itself. But it has nearly shunned us.
I also think the audience it is aiming for is incredibly small. I have a couple of friends who are not hardcore gamers that want the system. I understood perfectly why they would want it. They are more casual in their variety of games. They stick to Skyrim and just a couple of other games. And use their PS3 primarily for netflix and other such things.
Aside from the Xbox hardcore fanboys, those are the only people that will buy it. The hardcore gamers are outraged, and the general audience they are aiming for won't have interest in a machine called "Xbox" because it's known as a gaming console. Their kids violence box. The fact that it still has the name "Xbox" in it will probably hinder it towards that audience. As soon as they read that they will look past it.
MS is dead to me. They're spreading themselves too far out with their new console which has lost its focus, they have no real first-party games to speak of and Sony is already leading the pack since they're still coming out with new IPs towards the end of the PS3's life cycle (e.g. The Last of Us).

The cynic in me now thinks that Sony actually lost the war by alienating all the big software publishers. If I'm EA, I want all my games to be Xbox One exclusives now.
Nah, PS3 and Wii U are going to have better sales now due to the lack of DRM. Digital Distribution is bad for the economy and our economy has went down hill since 2007. Besides the sales of used games are small compare to the amount of new game sales.

RO2 doesn't need any recruits, friends or not. I am tired of team killing noobs and noob commander/squad leaders. There are plenty of servers which are full 24/7 so you don't really need to invite friends to play with. This is RO which means most of the players are mature and even if you don't know them, they play as a team (at least the German team lol).

Just because it have 8 cores it doesn't mean its "the best". The AMD CPU may perform beastly in multitasking (what multitasking are we even talking about in the consoles wtf!?) but in some games it may perform way worse than the high end Intel CPUs. I am saying this as AMD user and NOT Intel fanboy (my CPU choice for the past 3 gens was (and currently is) AMD). I don't see why they didn't developed a new CPU based on the 3970X and just rocked everything else on the market. Its not like Sony can't afford it or something.

I think the performance thing will only be an issue if it isn't properly optimized. For instance, the reason why I would never buy an AMD-powered laptop in the past is because they don't run as cool or as efficient as Intel-powered ones. For instance, the reason why I would never buy an AMD-powered laptop in the past is because they don't run as cool or as efficient as Intel-powered ones. If heat isn't an issue then I doubt it would make much difference.
It's interesting that you say that cause have you seen the back of the console, it's pretty much covered in fans the only segment that isn't is where the HDMI, power and other ports are, so I think it's gonna get pretty hot.

The heat is indeed a problem. Those 8 cores make a lot of heat. I really want to see how Sony managed to sort this thing out because clearly the console doesn't have a high end heat sink chunk in the case :laugh: The PS3 CPU was idling at 70c hahahah. It was not an AMD CPU but it somehow shows how Sony are "dealing" with the temps. I am expecting the AMD to be running AT LEAST at that temp. AMD are saying its best for their 8 core processors never to go past 60c degree but I can't see this happening with the PS4.
I'll bet Sony's going to tell people, in the event of overheating, make sure your console is upright at all times to maximize cooling, lol.

Just sharing what I learned. They got their info from the FCC. Any product has to pass through the FCC in order to be sold in America. Now, I will check again, maybe it was 21c and 28c, but it was down quite a bit from the PS3.

Out of curiosity, what does the PS4 have that the PS3 doesn't? Does it possess more advanced graphics? I read through all the technical details and barely understood a word of it. The only thing that I do know about the PS4 is that it is designed to integrate more social networking capability, that plus the fact that multiplayer isn't going to be a free online service. From all this, I really don't see much need to upgrade.

IMO, the most important exclusive Playstation had in the console wars was free multiplayer, and it looks like Sony's throwing that away to follow in the tracks of its competitor, Microsoft's Xbox.
They still have a larger selection of exclusives though so that's a plus in their favour.

im still 50/50 on the comsoles so im not hating on either at the moment but what makes you say no games or support? if anything it has the better launch titles and exclusives at the moment and the 360 was supported 10 times better than the ps3

If the system problems were more apparent, it might have been sarcasm but as it stands, I say it's genuine.
Anything other than genuine would be incredibly poor form, really.
Not really, considering a Sony exec took a jab at MS back at E3 I think it was with the sarcastic comment about "other companies changing their message".
There's a difference between being comparative (they honestly could have flat out said Microsoft and it would have just lost a couple 'class' points) for image strengthening reasons, and being just a total jerkoff with an actual sarcastic, snarky jab-- especially when they're bound to face the same issues themselves.

I just read that PS4 games (the big release ones) in the U.S will cost $59.99, while in Australia they will be selling for $99.95.
So despite the Aus dollar being about 95 u.s cents we are still getting ripped off. I thought it was going to be a bit better this generation.
Least I can still buy games online and people wonder why so many Aussies buy stuff online or illegally download tv shows and movies.
Already have super high car prices, rents and house prices here. Wages are high here but the prices are still too high and plenty of people don't not earn big wages over here.

It's weird. I have no desire to pick up any of the new systems right away. I have been a Sony fan since the PSX, but right now I cant think of anything that the PS4 has that makes it a must buy. Right now there are no games that I want for it, and the fact that it cannot play MP3s or videos is a real shame. Plus the no backwards compatability thing is a drawback. Also the fact that you cant hook up an external hard drive or even a flash drive really seems silly since you could do it with the PS3. 500GB is a good size for a hard drive but that can only hold like 10 full retail games. I'll stick with my PS3 for a few months, at least until Sony fixes these.

Feels somewhat like a crossover between a PS3 controller and and a 360 controller. Feels real nice in your hands. Triggers are f**king awesome, and the buttons feel good. The joysticks don't feel as f**ked this time either. I still wish they weren't right next to each other though, but besides that, it's great.
I got a chance to play Battlefield 4 on the PS4. It was f**king awesome.
From what I've read, the only think I probably won't like about the ps4 controller is that joystick placement. Gotten so used to the Xbox placement.

It seems pretty similar to Dual Shock to me. The only real difference is the touchpad that is in the center of the controller, and not having a pause/start button (they've been replaced by the options button).

However I can't help but notice there does not seen to be a thread about the game on this forum. The Killzone series really isn't that popular is it and the reviews for shadow fall have not been that stellar.
I like it as well as any of them so far. I'd rate it as high as the first personally.
My only main gripe is that it kind of wants to be a stealth game and kind of doesn't. Which takes some getting used to because run and gun is all you really did in the first one.

You can't change your PSN, stuck with it. But, you can do what I did... The PS4 lets you sync your account with Facebook, so I made a new Facebook account that I will use strictly for this, named it what I wanted to be named on PSN and now I have the name I want (Aragost) and can use any image I want as my avatar since it pulls that from Facebook. Doing this keeps my personal life personal and my gaming life separate.
Also I LOVE the share button. I have used that so much of the past weekend from Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed Rivals.
I have attached what my new PSN profile looks like now that it's synced with Facebook.

Everything about the new controller is better. It has some weight to it now, the rumble effect is better and more accurate, the thumb sticks feel better, the triggers are a massive improvement, and it just feels better in your hands overall. I always liked the 360 controller better than the Dual Shock 3, but this is Sony's best controller yet, by far.
I've played the dualshock since it came out on the original PS, so I kind of miss it.

Not trying to start any trollwar here or anything. This is my own opinion, of someone who isnt a hardcore gamer.
Ive pretty much stayed away from looking into any of the new gen consoles. I decided to literally wait till they were out n check out video reviews etc. Have to say i think the PS4 is the better console in design/aesthetics, interface and pretty much everything else. I think the instant upload of videos/pics to fb is very gimmicky but i think its very good if you are a teenager (im in my 20s so i dont really give a shit about uploading game vids to my fb, as no one else will give two f**ks what i post either).
I think the Price of the PS4 is pretty fair also, i was expecting it to be WAY higher. So hats off to Sony, ive been with them since the PS1 first came out and im yet to be disappointed in them. Ah, so you do have to pay to play games online? Thats a bit of a shitter. I certainly wont be continuing gaming on newer consoles then. Its become to heavily monotonised for me, squeezing out money on every tiny little thing they can. Its too much. I think you pay for the machine, you pay for the game and thats enough. I disagree with paying subcriptions, ive always been against it, ever since back in the PC days when youd get MMORPGS that youd have to pay monthly for. Never agreed with it.

My main gripe with the console is lack of launch titles though. I'm already looking back at my PS3 just because I have such a bigger game selection to chose from.

Brother managed to get a PS4 with 3 games (BF4,AC4,Killzone) on a first come first served basis at Asda in the morning, totally surprised me this with it considering all the talk on how insanely difficult it is to get one now.
Amazing console, loving the design, the DS4 and the UI. ;D
PS4 arrived yesterday with three games (Killzone, COD:G and BF4).
I'm enjoying Killzone so far although it's pretty much a fantastic looking tech demo and way too linear. It has made me excited for what we might see on the Playstation in future and the kind of scope the system could open up on less linear games. Still, it's fun enough regardless.
I've only played an hour of COD:G and although there is a noticeable improvement with the new engine it doesn't feel like too much of a leap from the last generation. But considering this game is on two different generations of consoles, I guess that is to be expected.
Haven't played BF4 yet.
Had some issues trying to connect to Playstation Live and signing in. It's fine now but I don't think sony's servers could cope with the amount of traffic they were getting.

Ps4 came out on friday and my mate tried to take it back when the screen froze everytime he turned it on. told he would have to send it back to sony who then said he have to wait two weeks to get it back. sony support 'ey!

Coworker said Wal-Mart was going to try to keep them in stock from the 15th and on. A Wal-Mart near here put up 4 today and he went and bought 2 :laugh: One was in my trunk for a while. Wanted it so bad.

The console is pretty hard to come by...as in next to impossible(UK here), the only way you can get one is with the super expensive bundle options with some stores (Game for example) and places like CEX I have only seen 2 in a store once along with 3 Xbox Ones and they went upwards of 550 Pounds, they were sold out shortly after.
Xbox ones are still hard as nails to find aswell.
As for Positives and negatives for both machines, I can only comment on the PS4 but I will be getting an Xbox One about half-way into the new year.
I love my PS4, it's an amazing piece of kit, design is nice, pad is amazing, UI is great and simple and it just feels like such a wonderful console but the games are obviously not there yet.
Killzone is amazing looking but isn't as good as the second game (I'd say on par with the third), Battlefield 4 is great but buggy as hell and Assassins creed I'm really starting to dig but I wouldn't miss much other than better visual fidelity if I went with the 360 version.
The closest game that I want is Thief but that ain't due till the end of February, Infamous is an end of March title.
In short, I'd say around the 1st or 2nd quarter of next year is when both these consoles will come into their own and later the proper true next gen games that are built around the hardware should start to make an appearance.
Its funny that the game I play on PS4 most now is Resogun instead of any of the other big launch titles.

But here's the thing, although I want one right away (when I get an idea in my head it's very hard for me to resist) I still have a couple of games from this gen I NEED to play... namely:

Beyond 2 Souls is a great conclusion to the sadness trilogy of David Cage's overhyped games with little to-no choice, irrelevent subplots and main plot so convoluted it makes AVP:R look good.
Play Heavy Rain once then hope David Cage's "shiny" wears off and he goes out of business.
I think I'm one of the few that liked Heavy Rain, though their is one plot point that made me call bs immediately on my playthrough the first time I played it.
Heavy Rain was an incredible experience. I think it's the most original game I've played in the past decade.

Just got the PS4 today. Unfortunately I don't have any games, but I did mess around with DC Universe Online for the first time today, and man is that Character Creator buggy (couldn't change colors)...
Also watched someone (possibly from Japan) stream Contrast while I waited for DCUO to download/install/update.
First real game I want to get for it is Watch Dogs.

I've only played Heavy Rain and I thought it was the best game of 2010. It was original, creative, different, and fully immersive. In an industry filled with rip-offs and sequels, Heavy Rain stands out quite easily.
Different while not equalling bad, does not equal good.
And I've seen plenty of games like Heavy Rain done better beforehand.
Pretty much every story-focused RPG comes to mind.

It's based on
the short story and has the same system of "If you make a mistake there's no going back" that Heavy Rain has.
And it's story although excentric is still more believable than Heavy Rain as well as having more choice & consequence.
And if Heavy Rain being compared to Telltale is an advanced Point 'n' Click then I have no mouth is traditional.
The only real story element I didn't buy in Heavy Rain that totally took me out of the story was

These kinds of games aren't supposed to have replay value. Kind of ruins the significance of your choices.
I replayed it twice and was fine with it. My only actual gripe is the lack of gameplay. Quicktiming it through a game isn't my idea of gaming, but I didn't find the story to be all that bad. Certainly sillier stuff has been on TV/Movies/Other games.

If the game has no replay-value your choices had no effect in the first place, it's just the illusion of choice.
Where- as if your choices do effect, the gameplay and story your choices actually do matter.

Heavy Rain is one of those games I've always wanted to play but just never got around to it. I tried watching one let's play of it and had to stop because I was too interested and wanted to play the game for myself.

That's fine if you only intend to play through the game once, but then if that's true and the choices don't matter you might as well be watching a movie.

For TWD it will work across seasons but not on an individual level.
For Dragon Age it completely works.
For Heavy Rain, it will never work, you can't even role-play it since it's basically a film.

Agree. Games like Fahrenheit or Wanking Dead are meant to be played just once. Otherwise you will break "your" lore.
Fahrenheit is pretentious trash and doesn't hold up once however.

I highly recommend KILLZONE. Very beautiful game that runs a good as it looks. The story is compelling, provided you played the first three.
I loved OUTLAST quite a bit. I played it last year, and jumped at the chance to do so and earn trophies for once. Very fun game with ample potential for frights.
If you have yet to experience TOMB RAIDER, I also recommend that. I'm 2 trophies away from platinum for that one. It's a very close call in terms of performing as a PC version on ULTRA would.
I purchased INFAMOUS day one, and have yet to play but perhaps ten minutes, haha. It has a good feel to the controls.
I'm trying to hold back until this semester is over.

Last of Us might be my favorite game on the PS3 and even the expansion was gold. Highly recommend it on PS4 if you've yet to play it on PS3.

I've been playing through tomb raider and I've come to like it quite a lot, my initial misgivings were mostly drawn in comparison to the realism in last of us, once I accepted that lara could go through hell every 5 mins and walk away I really started to enjoy it a lot more, quite excited to get to the end.
I'll be picking up the ps4 version of last of us when it drops in price as well, hopefully by then I will have forgotten enough of it to feel a bit fresh when playing.
Well take your advice and pick up killzone after TR although I didn't play the others...
Killzone is quite pretty to look at but I never was compelled to finish it.

For me personally with The Last Of Us, it's the best game I've played since Resident Evil 4. This is one game where you have no reason to be cautious with it.
I'm re-buying it on PS4 but I'm slightly envious of those who are going through it for the first time on more powerful hardware, you're in for a frigging treat. The Left Behind DLC is also fantastic even though very short.
I'm very excited for TLOU. Tomb Raider is almost Platinumed and it cannot come a moment too soon as I'm growing quite tired of this multiplayer. :/
I hate multiplayer for trophies, cheap way of trying to get a community, just look at the Cod games, if I'm not mistaken they don't do online trophies.

I planned on repurchasing another PS4 when better games come out, but I dont know that it's really worth it. I had a ps4, and XB1m and there's just not enough on them.
I hope to purchase a PS4 within the next year. I want to spend some money upgrading my PC first, but there are games I really want to play, namely Last of Us Remastered, Killzone, and inFAMOUS: SS.
The Last of Us should be your number one priority. I recommend playing through on the hardest difficulty on your first play through for the best experience. However, you might want to play the beginning on normal so you can learn the controls.
Are they that complicated?
No, but on the hardest difficulty there is no HUD so you might miss some of the on screen prompts used for Melee and stuff.
Well, the hardest difficulty on your first go is Survivor and I don't recommend it as you don't have the "see through walls" ability. Once you've played it through though, you'll find subsequent playthroughs fairly easy once you know where everything is.
I'm not talking about Survivor. I'm talking about Grounded. The listening ability is f**king stupid, in my opinion and makes the game way too easy. It's a post apocalyptic based game, so it only makes sense for the game to be difficult.
You can't unlock Survivor or Grounded straight away, I don't think so he will have to play it on a lower difficulty first.
My first playthrough on normal was quite difficult with the clickers even with listening mode.
Yes, you can. The Remastered edition lets you play on the hardest difficulty right when you start up the game.

Nah, its still too early. There are not enough exclusives. Wait a bit more, both the consoles and the games will be cheaper then. Now you will pay more for the console and you will have nothing to play. They have like 4-5 exclusives and they are not worth it at all.

It's still early days for both of them as Winter just mentioned, some pretty decent games coming for both before the end of the year but hardly any exclusives. 2015 would be an excellent time to get either or both.

I need to know. You have the option of stand by or power off. What would people recommend?
The issue i have with standby is, i just get annoyed leaving things on but it wouldnt bother me if it just had a light on... because i can hear its fan when im trying to sleep it pisses me off so i power off. However, i do worry switching it off properly n then on may lead to sooner breakage?

There are only 2 reasons to use standby: If you want to remote play/access your PS4, or to charge a controller when it's "off".
I personally use a plug in phone micro usb charger for my controllers so keep it fully turned off.

Only if you want updates downloaded whilst you are away or the pad needs to be charged. Other than those two, I turn mine off.

Towards the end, when you have to get the baby/fetus/thing to laugh three times, you're supposed to use a microphone to provoke it. I had the mic in and the game was paused while a friend was looking up what some people were able to say to get it to work, and all of a sudden the pause menu stated chanting this demonic thing at me. Literally dropped the controller and jumped back in my seat.

After a couple of years of waiting for the ps4 price to go down I finally got a sweet deal on a golden slim ps4 with 1tb. It looks so sexy sitting there under my tv.
Okay, so... I have had a problem with my first and fourth PS4 units. The second and third units I had suffered other issues such as lagging and not working straight out of the box. Anyway... my first and third unit had an issue with causing scratches or pinholes on the label side of discs. I'm told this is a RARE problem, but if two units.. purchased two years apart do the same problem is it really rare?
So, I had to get a FIFTH unit but I'm scared it will do this problem. Does anyone know if this is the quality of the PS4 disc labels or if there is something in the unit causing this? Does this happen frequently?

Ouch, never heard of this problem before. I'd say it's a problem with the drives being faulty somehow.

I've done some looking around and that it could be the disc drive/optical drive. Some say that it's the disc rubbing on the padding which keeps the disc stable cause the PS4 has/had a wobbling issue, and that's what's scratching the top of the disc. But I'm wondering if this is also from long play sessions, cause some games, I do a lot of level grinding because I want some good gear in the games I have and that takes hours sometimes.

Yeah, but then I'd be buying the games I already have. And I looked to see if the memory from the physical copy which is in the hard drive would be compatible with digital versions, and from what I've read, it depends on the game... And most of them aren't.
Actually, this was a problem in the days of PS3 whereby saves were very rarely compatible but everything so far I've tried on the PS4 have been. Usually, I've had retail discs only for them to become available on PS Plus later for free and the saves work fine.

Assuming you have these games... Does this work for MKX (which is now MKXL since I bought the XL pack DLC) and Injustice 2 (which is now patched to Legendary Edition with the latest update)?

Thinking of picking one up just for Death Stranding, although God Of War and Spider-Man I'd also play, PlayStation's got all the best exclusives right now.
The Last of Us insured I'd get a PS4 before an Xbone.
Fair enough.
The age of remakes is upon us and some of the PSone exclusives are still my all time favorite games.
If the trend continues I look forward to seeing if MGS and LOK series will get their restarts on the PS5.
Knowing Konami, I doubt it.
You'll maybe get a port of Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection.

Konami needs to see if they can make a bestseller without Kojima, if they can than maybe not. If they can't reboot city.
Konami's interest is nearly purely Pachinko nowadays.
