Yeah I'm pumped for them, they seem like such a modest humble team you can't help but root for them - the game has far surpassed my (albeit low) expectations so it's a nice little moment in time for Aliens fans.

So this is a retail "Boxed Chart" from the U.K.

I'm unfamiliar with the terminology, but I'm reading this as a ranking of UK retail physical "boxed" sales ranking only and doesn't reflect or combine with digital sales, correct?

Yeah, that's right. Still a big deal though. Even though I ordered my physical copy from eBay, I checked about 4 or 5 different supermarkets to grab a copy for my brother on release day, and not one had a copy (because they weren't selling it).

One of the articles suggests it wasn't widely sold on the high street here in the U.K. so Game and specialist internet retailers must have had a field day.

No it's cool, don't get me wrong. And my dream is it's actually #1 in worldwide because that would mean more Alien games with bigger budgets!  That's why your topic title at first got me exited. "Aliens Fireteam Elite No.1 Bestselling Game"!  Woot!  But then I read the chart.... aww... just UK... and aww just physical. :laugh:

I know digital sales comprises something crazy like 85% of all video game sales, so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed and wait for that data.

I'll cross my fingers that the sale numbers are good all around!

No, you're right, I kinda riffed off the subject headers of the articles and was excited to slap a big "NO 1" in the title no matter the context  ;D

I'm still really happy with the news like we all are, though I expect the digital sales will have it finishing more towards the middle of the charts (perhaps lower).

I've been playing since launch and haven't matched with single random. They really need crossplay or a quick join feature.

That's good. Hopefully it can jumpstart another attempt at Isolation 2 or at least another more involved AAA level game.

IMHO the 6 titles heavily discounted kind of puts AFTE pass them. Plus Civilization has a legacy fanbase and there are oddly enough 4 variants of Civilization listed in those 6.

The xbox version is listed as a best seller on Amazon.

Steam alone i had seen 10,000 players of the game online on launch day. Right  now it reads 7,174 in-game.

Aliens dropped to 12th in the U.K. boxed chart after a 77% decline in sales. At least it got the coveted number 1 spot for a week!

Those physical sales #1 and #2 rankings sound nice, but I'm not sure how to read into them to be honest. They're competing with some games a few years shy of a decade old. I wish these charts also reflected digital sales.

But it's great for the future of Alien video games to hear they consider it performing well so far. Nice find Seattle! Since Focus is a public traded company, we can expect a public statement every quarter, so hopefully we'll get more A:FTE info in their next statement.

I do think a half a million units is a good benchmark for a non AAA game. I felt that way with Illfonic's P:HG too. Of course, it also comes down to how much these companies actually spend cumulatively against how much they sold, but since we usually never see those numbers, I personally run with the 500k success line.

I'm eagerly awaiting this roadmap Cold Iron are teasing. I think we'll be able to gauge from that how successful it's been as well, depending on how substantial the content is.

Hmm. Perhaps a little? To me, I'm not sure it will be an accurate guage, meaning I would imagine (or hope) December's Season Two was already in the works prior to the game's release almost two months ago. I believe Cold Iron even teased it a little, too...

But subsequent seasons after that, the older and more substantial updates, definitely I would think!  :)

Boy I hope its not really coming in December, I would shoot for a Halloween release or I probably wouldn't even bother at this point.

The Seasons are taking too long from one to another, by the time of the next one comes the game's activity will be even lower. Doesn't matter what new content they bring, most players already moved on. A few will come back on the update for a few days to try out what's new then that's it.
