This one is a bit meh.
Unless they make a little series of these where she tries a bunch of different methods?

The plot thickens...
still on the fence about this game, was hoping to rent it first , but Redbox does not show it available for rent
I'll get it. I did get AvP2010 and ACM after all.
Everything looks great so far...for the Xbox One and PS4.
I'm slightly uncomfortable with the fact that we have seen NOTHING of this game for the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions yet. Reminds me of when GBX snubbed the hype for A:CM prior to its release because it was a sub-par product (and they knew it). I wonder if this is the case with A:I for the last-gen systems now.
I'm totally passing on the game until I can get myself an Xbox One. I'm not going to bother playing it on my 360.
I'm still eager to play Alien Isolation however with The Evil Within also releasing the same month, I'll only be able to spring for one. Also going to wait for reviews, the spectre that ACM has cast over the series still lingers for me.
Wait, The Evil Within is out next month, too? I don't think I've seen a single gameplay trailer for that yet, I didn't realize it was that far along.
No, they decided to create 9 spoilers revealing (atleast something about) all the cool scenes in the game so there won't be any surprises, unrevealed story arcs and no drama... it'll essentially be a second play through when we can finally first play through. Jeers. Everyone who's gonna get it already knows about it... so what's the point. I remember prometheus revealing the scariest scene with the snake in a trailer, how angered I was too...
The time to upgrade consoles has come. With a wave of new releases coming, I will not drop another penny on a 360 game unless it's used or given to me for free.
Isolation and Destiny will be my first purchases.

That one was better.
Agreed, SM. There's supposed to be seven more. I wonder if they all feature the alien, or if some will focus on hacking or the Androids. I can't imagine they'll spoil much or show us too much new stuff, but I won't complaint with a few new tidbits, either.

Fair enough. The 360 and PS3 are old consoles at this point...but I can't justify dropping hundreds of dollars on a new system when I barely have time to play the games I already have on my 360. Hell, this might even be the last system I own for quite awhile until something else changes. Haha.
But I still want to see pictures of the game that Creative Assembly is so proud of on the 360. Without pics at this point, it all feels a bit suspicious. ::)

Well, it's 9 years old almost. What do you expect? I want to see this game in good form, so I am gonna buy it up to date. However, since I don't have an Xbox One yet, if this comes out to so-so reviews, then maybe I will just get it on the 360 and hold off on the upgrade. Not sure when I will get the One. Been working so much that I hardly play my 360 as it is.

This video was bullshit. What the player is supposed to do here? You go forward the bandits kill you <-> you go back the xeno kills you. And it looks like the game is using "that" '90s feature where all enemies are teamed up against the player because I didn't hear any gunshots from the bandits after the xeno went behind you. Thats strange because in other videos I saw them shooting at the xeno. Apparently its all about the scripts again :'(

Pretty sure the video is showing you what NOT to do. In this case Amanda got into a confrontation with bandits and took a shot when she should have just ran or snuck past them.
On the hardest diff you probably will die withing 1-2 shots making it impossible to pass I guess.
Reminds me of the jokes me and my friends used to share about dying in Dead Space 1.
-Do your business in the toilet. Flush. Turn around, Alien is there.
-Open locker, get your ID pass. Close the locker with a slam. Alien is right behind the locker door.
-Go get a drink in the kitchen, pour water into a glass. Alien drops from above the fridge.
-Mailman buzzes your door, you go get the mail, close the door, there's the Alien.
-Walking along a corridor. Your handphone whatsapp tone rings. You look down to read the msg, there's a tail spike through your chest.
-Turn on your computer. Windows boots up with that jingle. You hear heavy breathing behind you.
Also, the ping from the tracker started slightly before the gun shot. Not to mention, who knows how much noise was made before the clip starts. The alien could have been nearby for many reasons already.
Me, I don't plan on shooting my gun, period. Unless I have to.

"The pain train is coming woop woop!"
The way the Alien comes at you is quite terrifying. It makes me jump and freak out everytime. I can't wait and the atmosphere in the game was captured so well. Its like they took Alien and made it bigger. I don't think they will quite capture the true terror and atmosphere of the film itself but I surely believe this will be the best Alien game yet.

Hmmm I certainly won't be chucking stuff at him and then hanging around.
My biggest gripe so far with the alien is he kills too fast and just charges into a room full of people. It would be much more terrifying if it could sneak up behind you and take its time killing. In the first movie it seemed like it was savoring the moment.
I dunno, it didn't seem to waste any time taking out Brett or Dallas. I think the tensions and "toying" is just it sneaking around before finding you, which it seems to do plenty of in the game.
Not entirely sure if I like the loud thudding of the alien's feet. Especially in the vent. I've always imagined their movement to be soundless which could cause more tension. Maybe we'll be able to edit/delete out the stomping sound files? :)

It did take it's time revealing itself to Bret and we only heard it scream at Dallas. It didn't charge at lambert even while Parker was in the room.
I think there may be a difference in the weight of an Alien that's 7 feet tall and one that's 10 feet tall. Also it's been living the life on a station with walk-in-buffet, it probably put on more than a few pounds.
Personally, the footsteps sounds like the arrogance of a dominant species, one that knows whose the boss. Also sounds like what a Queen or Praetorian would sound like on the prowl.
Something as big as the Alien isn't going to not make a sound when it walks. Whether it'll be as loud as the game... meh. The Queen is loud in Aliens. The Fiorina and Auriga Aliens, not so much. But they're not silent either.
Not to mention for Kane's son, he teleports from scene to scene, and any sound not meant to be heard is covered up by amazingly coincidental bursts of dramatic music or sound effects.
Its all about weight distribution. Predators typically develop stealth means of approach, people have been picked off boats in Asia by tigers so silently that other people in the boat didn't know that were missing until it was too late. And Tigers are big animals.
I think if the Aliens were found in nature you probably wouldn't know they were around until you were f**ked anyways.
The heavy footfalls are just a gameplay mechanic for people that don't want to constantly use the motion tracker.
Even in Aliens they were silent. You really didn't know they were there until they had their teeth around your head. Trying to out stealth the ultimate weapon of stealth is much more frightening. But all my complaints aside, I still cannot wait for this game. :)

Pretty sure having paw pads and being in the jungle plays a big part of the tiger's stealth. Are there any bipedal animals that can distribute it's weight enough to move with extreme silence on metal grates? Other than humans that is.
But I do agree that it's definitely a game mechanic. What I'm wondering though is where those parts about how it's supposed to move quietly if it's hunting you went to. All it does is stop moving, or hide in vents.
The alien doesn't have to move as just a biped since we see them traveling along quadruped fairly often.
Any big predator moves silently, if you broadcast your arrival it gives your prey a chance to run away. But that's kind of the point in this game, you'd have no chance if the Alien could just Houdini behind you.
They have to give the player SOMETHING so footfalls and screams are a way letting the player know its dinner time.
I think it kind of adds to it, but im terrified of things chasing me. I still get a little freaked out in avp2 when swarms of aliens chase me

That was very unrealistic. The time frame for the xeno transition was too short. Like it teleported in front of the other door.
one thing thats beginning to concern me about the game is this: given the amount of alien kill animations they've shown off already, how many more are there? Or have we seen them all. I'd just hate for the scare factor of the death animations to become a novelty before anyone even picks up a copy of the game lol

There were a few magazine journos saying that the alien does indeed appear to just "teleport" to other areas of the map on occasion. It'll appear on your radar one second... then the next he'll just show up in another distant part of the map.
It appears to be something done by the game creators to prevent the AI xeno from getting stuck in a part of the map... and to keep hunting you and the other humans throughout the game.
