http://twitter.com/#!/PezRadar/status/100236884227268608http://prime.paxsite.com/schedule.phpI'm confused tbh. I believe this wasn't supposed to be announced yet. Good news, regardless.
I hope they're at some UK cons. I'd love to go to Eurogamer again.
I was going to post this. >:( :'(
;D
Unless they finally give us live game footage I don't care.

Same, we can hear all the postive impressions from fans and game journalists and i still would not care much. Get some footage out already Gearbox!

/agree
After all of these years, after it's finally been announced in some big, intricate manner, only to show it to the public at a CLOSED event, I'm getting a bit impatient.
Throw me a frakkin' bone here.
There will be new assets released but no confirmation on a video so far.
At least we know we'll get something. ^^^
Sunday the 28th can't come soon enough it seems
Sega just announced their line-up of playable games for PAX and Colonial Marines is there.
http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?376134-SEGA-Announces-Lineup-for-PAX-Prime-2011 (http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?376134-SEGA-Announces-Lineup-for-PAX-Prime-2011)!
Now this is not what was mentioned to us a few days back by official sources so I'm going to re-confirm just in case. I'd hate it to be a typo...
And it's a typo. We just confirmed it.
Attendees will be able to check out the game at the Sega booth but they won't be able to go hands-on with it. Hopefully the original announcement will be fixed shortly.
A good release date would be nice since I want to pre-order it now!
Not showing footage to the masses and only to a small VIP crowd at this point is kinda inappropriate and extremely unnecessary.
This doesn't fall under "oh yeah let's build hype by not showing anything" or "the game is in beta stage so it's not ready" no no, this falls under baby bullsh-t and there for I can only assume SEGA/GearBox is hiding a bad game and don't feel confident enough to show it to the masses :-\
I think yes, hope I'm wrong though.
You do realize that anyone can go to Pax Prime if they bought tickets. Footage WILL show up during or soon after A:CM is shown.
Thanks for posting this ikarop, i was going to but ive been super busy. Anyways, i think we'll get a trailer of some sort... Anyone in the Seattle area thinkin about going to this event? They need to have a mid west game expo, i'd go!
I think August is too soon for a playable demo for a game thats coming out in the middle of next year. If the demo even was playable it would be utter crap and the rumors would fly that A:CM is a bad game before GBX can even finish it. I think its time for us to see some in-game footage but the playable demo needs to be saved for later.
this game has been in development for so damn long, I'll be surprised if its actually good

They're showing it at Pax Prime to ANYONE attending.... And sure you can't play it. You can never play a game the first time its publicly shown.
If they are showing it to anyone, so we can expect cam quality vids in youtube, yes?
It has not been confirmed yet whether or not cameras will be allowed at the booth.
Wait what? But it's the REAL public unveiling... You'd think people going to see the demo would be able to record the gameplay.
I voted for it... but honestly I've grown impatient of it. I was really excited when it was announced... but that is now on hold till it actually comes out. I would have rather voted for The Last Guardian (which is half the reason i got a ps3 for)
I hope that cameras will be allowed. I would really like to finally see some gameplay ;D

This will be very funny if its "public" but you can't record anything with your camera/phone :D
It would be odd if they disallowed cameras.
If that's the case, can't someone make a pen camera, or something? Maybe rig up a little camera in a shirt button. Go in undercover. :P

It isn't odd. I remember at PAX east they had the Darkness II as a playable demo, but you were forbidden to record footage of what you played.
They'll probably have the same setup they had at E3 and Gearbox community day.
Damn... I hope thats not the case. If it is then they better release the gameplay footage to us in like HD.
Whats the point of PAX exactly? Wouldnt the point of having a booth be to advertise your product? Kindof dumb to advertise to only a small number of people and not allow them to record; resulting in free mass advertisement.
They might as well build a wall around the booth and say "No one is allowed to see whats on these screens.... no one!"
But really, I have no idea what these expos are.

I'm with you on that. I don't understand the point of them if they don't show anything. Only thing I can think of is they want to tease the public by only showing it to a small handful of people (some of which would report about it on the net), which would generate curiosity about the game until an actual demo or even the full game finally came out. A pretty cruel method though.

Have you ever seen Men In Black. The speech that Agent K gave J. "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."
The build that Gearbox currently has is probably rather rough. Its an early example of gameplay. That fact is easy to explain to a few people in a small area, but even if you have it plastered at the beginning of the footage before releasing it to the masses, people will still point out all the flaws and immediately come to the conclusion that the final product will be bad.
It sucks for the fans and the people who can't attend the expo, but in the end its Sega protecting the image of the game. Many companies do this. In fact if I remember correctly most of the games at PAX were sort of hidden away. Mystery is sometimes more intriguing too I guess.
I still want to see it. :(
Looks like there may be new assets released for Gamescom :).
Video of some sort or I'm a sad panda.
So between Pax and Gamescon we MAY only get assets....
Ergh... :P
Give a mouse a cookie...
I remember when we'd kill and be happy with just a screenshot or even a tweet.
But at this point when we know they are showing it to Pax visitors (public) why can't they just show it to us as well?

Who knows. All I can guess is that they think the game is currently too rough to show to a mass audience. PAX may be public, but it is still filtered.
PAX Prime begins this Friday and as you know Colonial Marines will be there.
When asked for comment on whether or not cameras will be allowed at the Sega booth, Sega told us: "There will be no need for cameras. :)".
Cool. It looks like we are all going to be happy by the end of summer.
