I really like it! The closed mouth looks a little weird but it's pretty cool. Can't wait to see the masked version though.

The angle makes the figure look 10 times better from the Toyfare picture.

I'm really liking the way it looks, a sure buy for me.

Still can't make out the shoulder and hip articulation. I do hope it's ball joint.

7inchs they said in toyfare.

Most likely the same size as the Mcfarlane Predators.

So, whats anybodies guess on how much POA the Predator will have? Or which parts of his body will be articulated.

Me in terms of body parts I'm hoping for at least ball jointed hips, shoulders, and head. And pin chest.

Way better than that Hot Toys DOLL crap! Mandibles look a little thick but I'm defiantly going to get it. Was hoping the wrist blades would be slightly bigger but meh!  :) The more I look at this model the more I don't want Wolf to die in the movie.

With that said, I think NECA's done a great job with this one!

Yeah dude, don't judge Hot Toys till you've held one...(unless of coarse, you HAVE, and you still thought it was gay, then ya know, thats cool, everybody has their own opinion  ;) )but this NECA Wolf looks bad ass...even though I got rid of all my McFarlanes after I got my Hot Toys stuff, I'll have to get this bad-ass fig to hold me over till Hot Toys gets theirs out. Personally, Wolf is my favorite pred, including all other movie-comic-game preds. Unless he somehow doesn't look so good on screen. Guess I'll find out soon enough though.  ;D Can't wait to see what else NECA gets to do of the Aliens/Predators in the future. Hell if McFarlane's figs had appealed to me as much as this does, I may not have spent all that money on HT....DAMN lol

I completely agree SMJ, I did the exact thin, I got rid of all my McToys Aliens and Preds, except for the first MM6 box set, and the AVP Series 2 Queen to go along with Microman AVP.
And I hear you on Hot Toys prices...I had to cancel my Pred 2...but when there's a chance I'll get it!!
HOT TOYS RULE!!!!  ;D ;D ;D
I just hope Neca releases some human figures too...

lol yeah those prices...Human figs would be cool. I'd like to see NECA or Hot Toys do a Dutch ( I know a lot of people have said that ) Its a shame too though that I got rid of my MF figs...you know how much they sell for on E-bay??? lol I just gave a lot of mine to some kids that lived close to me...oh well, that made them happy...lucky little bastards.... :D I DO still have my masked Predator 1 though, so at least he'll fit in with neca-wolf...Demonio did you sell yours? <McFarlane's I mean. (and YES, Hot Toys RULES!!!  ;D But NECA is impressing me)

Yeah I sold mine,
I got a decent deal on Ebay, I'm sure I could've sold them for more, but I needed the cash right away so I sold them with a Buy it Now option, not bad around 150 for AVP preds, Preds 2, Alien, Alien from Aliens, Grid and Dog Alien.
A Hot Toys Dutch's tema woould be awesome! They already have Carl Weathers (Rocky)...and the muscular bodys look awesome!

Yes i have seen one live (Scar Predator) and even if i hadnt it wouldnt matter since you can see from the pictures that they are out of proportion, have clothes like dolls and simply dont look like all that great. People here seem to see them as the ultimate collectable but they are just expensive dolls to me. They are WAY over rated for the price you pay. Seriously if you want good looking preds go cheack out www.predatorstuff.com  (http://www.predatorstuff.com) I would rather collect £200 resin cast fully painted Predator statues than those Dolls you all seem to rave about. I would rather pay the extra £100 for this than the Hot Toys Scar
(https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.predatorstuff.com%2Fgallery%2Fthumbs%2Flrg-1609-cs-scar-pred-ver-2.jpg&hash=466b0bc0b096f955cdce5f0b6c6d5759bf22fca5)

That NECA Wolf looks way better than any hot toys pred. Apart from the mandibles its all in correct proportion and doesn't have any clothes

Ok, OK...you can call them crap, that's fine...
I visit that site pretty often and they do have tons of cool kits and statues and collectibles. But a lot of them are artistic interpretations, nothing wrong with that, but it's like the EU from Star Wars, cool stuff but for me, it's not the Star Wars I like.

Same with a lot of those statues and kits, they look cool, but they are not the Predators I like. There's a few very neat movie kits and statues, but the fact that there's just one pose and one material makes it less attractive. Even though that Scar pred in the pic is screen accurate and looks pretty cool, the problem is that it's bulky as the ones from the movies...that, I really don't like.

I noticed that you have a real issue with "dolls" as you call them, somebody posted that the original action figures were the G.I. Joe 12"...you don't call those dolls do you? And what's the problem with clothes? The Hot Toys pred have "real" net suits, and the mixed media makes it very realistic.
So, let me rephrase it,, Hot Toys Predators are the BEST action figures out there...how's that? Better?  ;)
If not that's cool, let's move on, you made your point I made mine, if you're happy with your McToys and I'm with my Hot Toys I think all is good! Don't you think?

Well I never did collect GI Joe (wasn't that popular in the UK) but I do see them as dolls for kids, same as your Hot Toys stuff, they are dolls, its not like I don't like dolls - they are great if your 7 but I'm 24. I'm not into the whole articulation thing because my models are placed on a shelf to be looked at not moved about and played with. If I see a NECA, McFarlane, Koto, or any other Plastic/resin moulded model with a pose I like then ill buy it for its looks not for its articulation or its little clothes or its interchangeable toy guns.

If I'm totally honest I don't really mind the Hot Toys Predators - they look OK but people seem to praise them way to much for what they are – They have clearly visible hinged joints just like a cheap toy, they have out of proportioned body parts, they have inaccurately sculpted dreds and cost way too much yet people love them, it seems crazy to me! But each to his own. You use the term "action Figure" - that immediately puts me off buying 1 as I grew out of action figures long ago. I'm happy with my models/ornaments and you're happy with your "action figures" so all I want to say is that I think that NECA Wolf beats any Hot Toys Predator hands down and I'm entitled to that opinion.

Yep, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this "dolls" aren't for kids...
This are high-end collectibles, nobody in their right mind will give a Hot Toys predator to a 7 year old...and the reason people praise them is because they're worth every penny to the people that like them.
Same with McToys, Koto or even Kenner.

They're not everyone's cup of tea, but let me remind you that McToys and Neca are toys too, they are action figures too, and they are even closer to a toy for a 7 year old than Hot Toys...starting with the price tag and materials. So you haven't grown out of action figures that far yet!  ;)

And there's nothing wrong with that, it's not like somebody is more "mature" for collecting McFarlane vs. Hot Toys vs. a Garage Kits...in the end all of them are collectibles of movies your fond of from your childhood. All men like their toys, be it cars, gadgets or action figures!  ;D

With that said...I'd like to wrap up this little debate with a picture that it's worth a 1000 words:

I used to buy the figures when I was 14 or so, but to be honest, I feel I'm a little old to be having toys lying around. Not to mention they don't really interest me.

And I don't even think the Hot Toys ones look good enough to warrant the hefty costs. They look disproportionate and annorexic in some cases. And the paint jobs on some of them are crap.

Not that I'd buy it anyway.

yet another merchandise thread over run by the hot toys debate! its funny how things work out with different people. i used to build and paint models when i was 10. now i'm 25 and i build/paint/customize dolls. i lost interest in models because they're static. i think everyone can agree that your favorite predator in a bitchin' pose is sweet. i see it like i've got an infinite amount of new models by buying just one with good articulation. i like it because its entertaining, you can interact with it. i want my hicks smoking a cigarette. so i kit bash a little, get him a pack of smokes, bend his arm, and bam! i've got smoking hicks model. sure, the joints are kind of an eyesore, but i feel like its a pretty good trade off. with the human figures they either give them a "muscle suit" or you can cover up the joints with watches and sleeves. the predators are different though. i usually just leave some of the lights off in the display case. just like they'd appear in the darkness in the movie - to hide the fact that they're just guys in big painted doll suits.

well, I personally am a collector of "action figures", and all I have to say about the Neca figures is that I will probably end up paying alot of cash to get them. I like to buy multiple figures just in case. The WOLF PREDATOR looks awesome (as good as it could be considering the scale), and the ALIEN figures look pretty sharp also.
As for the hottoys editions... DAMN they are expensive!!! I would love to buy these f**kers, but Papa has ababy, and Momma spanks! I will eventually end up having bought them though, I am a freak about figures. ;D ;D ;D

In the AVP: R game, Wolf has wrist blades on both arms. Though I haven't seen that in the movie trailers nor on the figure.

Was that just a game add on?

So, is this from the third series? From what I knew, NECA was doing the same thing they did with the PREDALIEN. They would have a helmeted, and a closed/opened mandible WOLF. Hmm? Now I dont know what to think about this. Anyway, what is the third set going to be, anyone know?

Well the Sideshow's figures are very high detail and cost like over £100, these are good detail and articulate at about £12.99 very good detail for the price.

And no ball jointed hips, chest, or cut waist. The Wolf has some good POA points, but then it's totally dead at the same time.

na,more like 16,I paid 15.99 for the Alien warrior and Predalien. The Wolf fig is super badass, waaay better than the hot toys assortment, the hottoys figs have good articulation but they lack that certain....uh how do I say....damn,I dunno how to explain it,everything about them seems off, head to body scale (big heads).McFarlane had super detail and quality but that slowly eroded away....they got sloppy and the final AVP figures killed the line.Neca combines good articulation with good quality and attention to detail.I've been waiting for figures like these for a very long time and you can bet your *** I'm gonna be out there hunting down The Wolf  ;D

Mcfarlane's version were very inaccurate and got sloppy with the designs.Even the queen's head-crest was done wrong....the pointed tips were tipped up instead of down, the dog alien's head was to big and the inner jaw to small, and the alien resurrection version was....uh how do I say it........bland? it looked like a dried twig or something. The Aliens version looked like a tard which pissed me off the most because that is my favorite Alien design, all they did was stick a different head, tail, forearm on it and then gave it a new paint job and bam! just another re-paint

I've owned ALL the Mcfarlane Alien/Predator Figs and Only the first Alien/Predator boxed set and Hicks were noteworthy.

The Neca Figures kick serious ass,Neca was able to pull off the Skeletal look of the Alien right.  mabye if you actually bought a few and stopped talking outta your ass you'd know what I was talking about

Anyone else fear that the Predator's legs won't be able to move forward? In the pictures they seem to be able to move to the side a bit, and be positioned straight up for standing.

Wolf has swivel thighs, which would mean them going side to side, not forward and back. I think that would be an articulation point for hips.

Ahh yea it looks shity, but a friend of mine fixed it with something called greenstuff its used for figures in the worldplaying world like warhammer and warhammer 40.000 he made a small line of greenstuff and put in the pred, and when it had dryed he just painted it the same colour, now you cant see it any more.

btw i got mine from cornerstore comic they are sending out allready, thats why i allready got mine.

and btw what ticks me of is that the masked only got one shouldercannon its kinda odd i think.

Honestly, it's that problem with Wolf's face that keeps me from preordering series 3... I love the version with the helmet, but I REALLY loved the maskless version before. Kinda sucks that it looks like they just glued his face onto his head.

Before I buy series 3, I'm gonna have to wait for loose pictures to see if they did the same thing to that figure too.

But I did order from CornerStone too, do they send you an e-mail when they ship them out? I ordered about 4-5 days ago, and my card was charged, but all I got was e-mail saying it was processed.

Ah, thanks for the info. It's cool of them to do all of the preorders first, more sites ought to fill those completely before shipping out regular orders.

I was just wondering because it was my first time ordering from them, thanks again!

Well, I take back all the IF's I had about this guy, I got both figures today in the mail, and they are absolutely gorgeous. The seam on the head is very easy to look past, and they look great in hand.

I also splurged on the McFarlane AVP Boxset, the one that came with unmasked P1, and an Alien. I can't decide whether or not to open em up... whatcha think I should do?

I have a quick question.  Are the NECA 8" toys articulated?  Meaning can you move the arms and legs as opposed to the McFarlane statue-type figures?

Thanks guys.

The most articulated one is the Alien Warrior. That thing is crazy, you can get it in any pose you want. The predalien is the least articulated one, you can only move the head, it's balljointed shoulders, and cut hands.
The predator is somewhere between the two, with balljointed neck, balljointed shoulders, cut biceps, hinged knees, and some sort of articulation on the ankles. I think what limits it the most is the lack of hinged elbows, I have no idea why they didn't include this as it is such a basic articulation point.

You forgot the 4 Cut joints in the Predalien's legs and it's bendable tail.
There may not be many poses it allows, but it looks fantastic in the ones you get.

I think the worst things about the the unmasked Neca Wolf toy is how the whip falls apart in two so easily,it should have been all one piece but no,and the second thing would be is that the unmasked Neca Wolf toy and the masked Neca Wolf toy have no button to have the wrist blades come in and out, instead you go to put your fingers on the wrist blades so they can pop in and out. The final worst things is how the chest is stuck in an angle, and also how the arms don't movie inwards and outwards, the burnt green side of Wolf's face was lacking a bit of green acid, and last would be the cleaner kit. I was expecting that you could take it out and open it to see the body repair tools but nooo. I got both of the masked and unmasked figures yesterday.
The thighs don't move inwards and outwards as well.

Well if you live in the U.S. you probably couuld find them in stores like Hot Topic, Suncoast, or you could order from TISINC99.com. Very good store. They should be in stores now or if not within the next few weeks.
I DON'T know anything about UK releases or where to buy them, sorry.

If you have both of the appropriate hands on whichever Wolf figure it is,the whip stays put better in both hands,I tried it and the whip didn't fall apart at all. So do try it. Even though the whip is made up of two pieces, the reason it falls apart is because the curved part moves down resulting in half of the whip disassembling, however it doe's look better when it is stretched out by the use of both hands. Another beef I have is how the handle of the whip is the brown that it is,it makes it look a bit lame,a darker brown or grey black would have been good to use on it.

Finally got my NECA AvP:R Series 2 figs today.

This series features the Wolf Pred in masked and unmasked versions.

NECA really has done a fantastic job with these figures.  While not as poseable as some would have liked, I'm not a big fan of huge amounts of points of articulation in a figure.

These have just enough poa's to get a few really cool poses.  They also come with a great bunch of accessories.  The whip and the converting plasma cannon/plasma pistols are my favs.

The only big drawback on these would be the obvious seam line in the head of the unmasked Pred and the bio helm/armor color difference in the masked version.

But, they really are just damn cool figs.  Can't wait for the "roaring" version of the Wolf in series 3.

On to the pics...

Ok after the snafu with my first order that was canceled I ordered again today from NECA the unmasked version. I was a little torn I could have got both masked and unmasked for $45.99 + 8.99 shipping and handling from another seller or just the unmasked version from Neca for only 16.99 + 6.45 shipping and handling. I want both because I like the masked version better for the face, but I like the accessories on the unmasked. I don't I went for the cheaper deal because I don't like it when the sellers jack the price up $10, $15 + if you tried to buy them seperately.

Nice Pics! Good lighting and background.

QuoteEww, that seam line is really putting me off.

It puts me off a little too, but I'm pretty sure I know why they did it that way. Basically except for the head the two Series 2 Wolf's have identical parts(with a few different accessories). If you look at the head of the unmasked Wolf the face would be way to big to mold a correct fitting mask for. The mandibles are too wide, should be closer. They had to reshape the whole front of the face to make the mask look right. Easy solution to mass producing 2 similar figures with different faces and make the front part where you can easily make it a masked or unmasked version. Interchangeable front pieces to the head.  The masked version has the seem too, you can see it in the side pics, it just isn't distracting because the mask covers it.

Basically, it's just a sheet of fabric (I think it's silk) that's hung over a piece of thick foam board, both bought a typical department store. The camera I used was my new Kodak Easyshare 12 megapixel.

I do believe the handles come off, but I'm not 100% sure, it certainly does look like they do, but I've been a little afraid of messing them up if I tried.

The best place to get them is Cornerstorecomics.com.  $28.99 for the pair.  Masked Wolf individually is sold out.  They are a good price compared to other online retailers.  Not to mention it took only 5 days from when my order was placed to be on my doorstep.  I already ordered Series 3 from them so I dont have to wait so long.  Hope this helps.

Got mine too!  ;D They really are solidly built a lot more so than the McFarlane ones. I had a little trouble taking the handles and support arms off my plasma casters.  :'(They were in there very snug. I was little confused on how they came off and darn near broke one before I figured it out. Even if I had broken the piece I could have used it as the pistol variant. I can tell I weakened the piece a little but it didn't break. Good sturdy construction considering I was torquing it the wrong way. I tried a couple poses. One with the pistol in the left hand and whip in the right, which was a little hard to get in the hand as well. I ended up putting both plasma casters on the back and I swapped out the closed hand with the open one. Both looked really good. The wristblades worked really nice. Not many complaints except for the plasma arm being a little hard to figure out how to remove. I would have liked a little more articulation like torso twist, and the left arm only moves so high because the armor has a small connector piece. But it has two major pluses- stands well and is sturdy. You could handle it quite a bit without fear of breaking it. The seem doesn't bother me so much on the head. the front part of the piece is obviously a little different in color to the back of the head.

Hey i just got the unmasked Pred and IT IS SO AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!! The hair is moveable(well not really),the whip is just like the one in the movie, but the sad thing is that the wristblades don't go in and out. :'(

Yes, the wristblades do go in and out.  You may need to give yours a bit of a pull to get them out.
Oh thanks for the anwser!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ole' Helmeted Wolf isn't getting much attention... Sooooooo, heres a few pics.

Note: There ARE markings in the helmet, they're just not as prominent as they are in the Hot Toys Wolf (which I'm getting Tuesday!), and in the movie.

The 'handles' in the front, and the back of the cannons DO come off.

Give em a good tug, and they'll come right out. No more uzi-ness.

Thanks!

I use a really 'ghetto' method for taking pictures. A while back, I was out at Wal-Mart and saw some small LED lights that are on 'goosenecks' with a clip at the other end. They give off a really clean light, with almost a blue-ish tint. So I just tried taking pictures with (no flash) no, or very low light other than the LEDS. Since they're on goosenecks, they're easy to bend and adjust.

They're only about a dollar in the books and magazine sections. I love em though, wouldn't use anything else!

Actually right now, all I have are 3 blueish ones, I would have gotten others, but I really only bought them to read with... kinda stupid luck lol. One day I just got bored, turned out the lights and hovered one of my Hot Toys Scar and it looking pretty much amazing.

But I can certainly look for red and a give it a shot!

Yup.  May it is.

Anyway, my Wolf came today.  I ordered from TFAW.com and it shipped right away.  I got it in a week.

(https://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fa423.ac-images.myspacecdn.com%2Fimages01%2F9%2Fl_2267973d7099053c58f3385006dd2d96.jpg&hash=609f0b09fd2321bc04f7c3ba6fdd36430cc98a12)

There he stands, atop the Lament Configuration, in front of my three absolute favorite movies: Casshern, City of Lost Children, and Silent Hill.  It is here, in my dorm room, he will stay... until I go home this weekend and get my predalien and two alien warriors to display him with. ;D  (He fell backwards off of the box right after I took the photo... but it's all good...  He's okay...)

I rated it "good" because some of the accessories pissed me off...  I didn't really want the unmasked, but I'll have to get him for some of the accessories, the staff is cheaply painted and a bit short, and I spent a good 30 minutes trying to get the damn shoulder mount off of the plasma caster to have him hold it as a hand gun.  The articulation is a little limited too, but I wouldn't have docked it for that.  It's a great looking figure.

It looks much better when it isn't in a bright light, the eyes are great, I really love the eyes.

It doesn't bother me that it doesn't come with a base because it stands very well without one.

I finally got a Wolf figure today, it was the unmasked one, its annoying, I ordered this only 2 days ago, I received it today, but I am still waiting for the other 2 I ordered (from another seller) and its nearly 7 weeks now, he sent me a message saying he's only just got them in stock last week, I might give him a few weeks before saying something, still a pain in the ass though.

As for what Hicks said above, I agree with him and more, the NECA series is starting to bore me, there's very little of them, and most of them are Wolf figures, they should make an adjustable Predalien or some humans like the cost guards or something.

But so far I am liking the Wolf figure.

I have the unmasked Wolf open, impressive accessories when compared to the McFarlane AVP series, some joints are a little stiff but that's ok, I think its a overall good figure, but do we really need 4 Wolfs?

As for the removable mask issue, they rarely work properly anyway. The MacFarlan ones are bitches to get on an make stay on; the only ones I've seen work are the ones that plug into the face (Hot Toys' 4-inch figure series).

I have the Unmkased figure. After fiddling around a bit with his skull necklace, it snapped in half. (And since it's so thin I can't re-glue it) His right hand is a bit loose, but other than that, the figure rocks IMO. He stands up fine for me, and I didn't really want tons of articulation. (If we got too much he'd be super loose after a while) If you get the hips and swivel hips in the right spot, he stands up fine. The head-seam doesn't bother me at all, though it does look a bit ugly. A minor nitpick; I wish the whip would've been wire, so you could bend and pose it. That would be sweet. The other Unmasked Pred I have (still packaged) is missing the plug joint on one of his plasma-casters, also, which was a bit of an annoyance for me. The Wolf Predator is the only Neca figure I own, because no stores around here sell them. (cost me $40 shipped online for two Unmasked Preds) I would still like to find the Alien and PredAlien is stores, and I'm hoping to get the Series 3 open-mouth version. I like the figure overall. Just seems a bit fragile to me that others. I usually only collect Hasbro figures (Marvel, SW Clones, 25th Joes), and Hasbro figures are (obviously) much more durable than Neca's. I'm not used to owning a "collectible" so I was probably a bit rough on it at first.

I also did a video review on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXOK5ZdmX6Q (Prepare for awfullness)
