I'd trade this in for an art book in a heartbeat tbh.

Will probably cost a mint but I do have a very good, working VCR player at home.
If they threw in the Trading Cards as a bonus then that would make it a definite purchase for me.

$60USD! Yikes. Not really surprised if I think about it given it's a limited collectors item.

Speaking as someone that grew up with VHS here, I genuinely don't understand the wave of VHS nostalgia/resurgence we're in right now. The resurgence of vinyl, I totally get that. But even in its heyday VHS was never a particularly good format and never presented the films as they were intended/shot to be seen...

I know a few collectors - my old neighbour and also his mate (who runs a very cool VHS-dedicated shop in the CBD). I think it' more about the collectors angle rather than actually watching them for some superior experience.

In which case, sure, I can sort of get the case for collecting original tapes (I held onto some of my childhood tapes as well, much in the same way I did some childhood toys). But then how does that explain the novelty $60 tape of a new film like this?

Same. Vinyl can often sound a lot better than digital. VHS is inferior in both sound and vision to digital.

Maybe its for a retro 70's feel but one can just do that in digital or blu rays too. They have made black and white versions of modern blu rays.

... VHS was in colour.

And I don't think they make modern blu rays black and white to make them look old.

That said old mate Fede isn't going to beat the 'lack of original ideas' charges with this.

Unoriginal ideas and executing them poorly, even.

Should've been a black image with a single element in the middle and the title. Then it would actually fit with the original VHS releases.

Needs to be all noisy and contrasty as if it's been copied a bunch of times with snippets missing where you paused out the ads.

And the station logo appearing and fading out after the commercial break.
