No image has so completely captured how degraded the Aliens will be portrayed in this film as this one. You've got your Aliens on its hands and knees like a submissive bitch, with the Predator standing above it in a cool heroic pose.
I know it's not from the movie, but it's entirely representative of the image the film will be selling.
I love this picture, really brings back memories of Predator 2, despite the fact the combistick is more like the one in AVP. I honestly can't blame alien fans for hating it though, especially considering the details that SiL pointed out.

If you take a look at both of the pics on the last page, you see there's quite a bit of difference in the lighting aswell as appearance. The ALIENS Aliens were orangish in real life, but in the movie, they were darkish turquoise. It's all about the lighting. ;)

I only just realized the blades were through the head in that particular shot. It looks like they've actually broken off in the cranium. Surprisingly enough, the creature looks as though it's got some fight left in it.
It was probably out of desperaton that wolf snapped off the blades hoping to kill chet.

I think he looks entirely different from Scar, but still nowhere near as good as the first two Predators. But I'll still wait for the final Product, maybe it'll look better once all the effects are finished.
Does anyone else think Wolfs lower jaw looks much like Scar's lower jaw after he had been facehugged? Not totally positive, but maybe a possibility? Could create a pretty freakish ending if so.

It seems that the face is the only problem for the pred in this film, at least they improved on everything else, but made the face worse in that pic with those cartoony bulging eyes.
I do agree that the picture itself looks a bit silly especially with the eye popping out. But what I dont understand is that the eye color is ... white? I'm thinking his eyes are deeper and cant even be seen here ... would look funny if a Pred had bulged eyes.
Still, its one picture which doesnt make him look like a total bad-ass. Again, i'll reserve judgement untill I see a DECENT up-front image.

Thanks for the scans man. I love all of them apart from the last. That one looks like Wolf is mutated or something and looks as if he's from Doctor Who. I mean look at his mandibles! I'm confident that Wolf won't looks so yellow in the final Movie. Just look at his body when spears the Alien in the head. It also looks pretty yellowish there, but you don't notice it in the clip.
The face isnt perfect, but atleast a Predator looks real and intimidating again. I think it looks better than the P2 Predator though.

Well looks like he's in third place behind Pred 1&2 faces. Better than Scar but whatever.
Also QUIT SAYING IT'LL LOOK DIFFERENT IN THE FINAL MOVIE! Production stills look slightly different because they're taken with cameras that resolve MORE details in lower light than the 35mm motion picture cameras do. They could be taking these with 10 or 16 Mp cameras on set. The lightling will look brighter to a photo camera the details will be clearer and some of the color balance will be different than the movie because the movie will get color corrected in post. Basically these just let you have an idea of what it would look like if you were standing there on set looking at the action with your own eyes.
Also obviously they did make Wolf's skin too yellow again. They did it to Scar in AVP and they've done it again. Every single picture has him that yellow including the toy sculpts which are taken under neutral even light. Also it looks like while they got Steve Wang to help sculpt, it would seem they didn't get him to paint (he concieved of and painted the wonderful color scheme onto the predator in the very first film).
Still he's not as bad as the predalien *sigh*

Why the f**k is everyone making a joke out of this? That piece of shit cost us new Alien suits. Not that ADI would have done a good job with those, but I'm just f**king bemused. For over a year we've been told how the Predator will look like a Predator, but it seriously looks like the elephant man (Good comparison there for whoever posted it).
I'm not even that much of a Predator fan but I just can't be doing with ridiculous looking monsters when they looked so good in films made over 20 years ago!
Someone show ADI the f**king door or just quit on this franchise. This has riled me quite a bit...

well, everything about the predator is the best it has ever looked... with the exception of the face, so Im happy because he will have his mask on most of the movie anyway. and I'm going to reserve judgement on the face until I see it in the theater.

All people really want is for the predators face to look similar to the original. This is far from it. At least Scar was an attempt to look like the original, a bad attempt. This is just way off course.

Didn't you once say Fox "are the best marketing machine in the film industry"? Because they're f**king this film up for you big time. With the exception of when I first saw the new Alien design, this is the most overly-negative I've been. I really really hope he looks better in the film.

ok this has been bugging me since i first saw a pic of the Predalien from the movie, but it looks like they just took a pair of mandibles off of an extra predator mask they had in a back room somewhere and super glued them to the side of an aliens head and said "voila! we have our predalien!" seriously, they should have used some of Dave Dorman's concepts or even like the ones from the box of the AvP2 PC game, hell it was disappointing since the end of the first AvP movie when the predalien chestburster emerged and you saw the mandibles glued to its little head.
Im sure Wolf's face will look better in the movie.

That's just the top ridge of his head. It's similar to the Predator 2 style. Basically Wolf is a cross between 1 & 2 with coloring that is more like 1 and some completely new teeth.

If the mandibles were slightly different in the way they were angled, i'd be loving the new face in this pic.
I like the new scar or whatever it is on his fore head, sort of looks like a crossbow aiming at the sky. Whatever it is, it's kind of neat.

It's new to the Wolf, but not unlike what the Predator 2 Predator had on his head. I think they're there to sort of mirror the horns on his helmet.
Those are still pretty similar to The Predator 2 design. Also I think the "symbol" on is forhead is actually just his natural coloring again like the coloring on the forehead of the Predator 2 predator. Look at a screenshot of his face and you'll see what I mean on both counts.

Hmmm....these pics do make Wolf's face appear bad. However, if the cinematography of the film will make it "appear" better, then I'm all for it.
I still don't understand the yellow-color on Wolf's face. I can see it maybe being acid-scaring, but those pics REALLY make the yellow stand out so badly.
Scar's face was more yellowish in AVP, compared to the previous Predator films, but I can't believe ADI would make the face even a brighter shade of yellow, for skin tone.
Besides, from what we have seen in the trailers/IGN clip, Wolf's skin tone looks grey/white, so if this is just a faciial issue, I hope it looks better in the film.
When I saw the NECA Wolf Predator figure, with its mandibles closed, I thought that's pretty much what Wolf looks like in the film:

Not too keen on the Predator's face here.. :( The darkened eyes in one of the shots look good, as does the head shape and the general level of detail, but the huge mandibles and strange eye in that head to head shot look bad..

The alien which is in the submissive stance by the predator has most likely been smacked down into that position and therefore its death is imminent. It also shows just how powerful ole wolfie is going to be!
The yellow face in which wolf has I believe is a result of deep acid pigmentation or scarring from his 'other' furious battles with the xenomorphs. Also - if Wolf's face does appear to be all yellow like that throughout the film then il be looking forward to it as its not been done or seen in a badass flick like this.
All in all - I cant wait to see this on the big screen when it finally hits New Zealand screens.

Predators face doesn't look bad to me. Thought, I would like some actual film stills, not these behind the scenes things.
From seeing the trailers and the NECA Predator, and from what Colin has told us, I would have to agree that Wolf's face willl look MUCH better in the film, than what these behind the scenes photos show.
I can understand the "stunt Predator" explaination, since they also use stunt Alien suits, which are not as detailed and the fact that Daniel Pearl's cinematography will get the lighting correctly.
I also think the "Two Face" theory of the face, having one side looked really messed up, with a bulging, cloudy eye and the other side looking more normal, makes perfect sense.
After thinking about it, I believe that Wolf's face is acid-burned, during the PredAlien fight and does not look like that throughout the entire movie. Either the PredAlien spits acid onto Wolf's face or a bunch of acid sprays onto Wolf's face, after impaling the PredAlien with the wristblades.
I think Wolf turns his back to the PredAlien, because all that acid just sprayed onto his face.
I really look forward to the Wolf photos Colin mentioned in the "Scar vs Wolf" thread. I'm betting they will look more like the NECA Wolf Predator figure.
I was criticising the Predalien for being something out of the Guyver movie before. Now I know about Steve Wang's involvement, it's not a surprise! I'm sure that he's glad that he's left his mark

Colin has said, that it was the stunt head from a production shot. And even he was annoyed with the pic's that were chosen. I'll withold my judgement until a proper film shot of the Pred's face is released before I give my opinion on it. However, I dont expect the Pred to look as good as Winston's design but I have faith that it will look great and it will be a massive step forward over the origional AvP design. From what I have seen of the Pred so far, especially in that recently released clip. I think it looks bloody class, and everyone I have showed the clip to agrees. Even those who had lost faith in the franchise after seeing AvP, has had there faith restored after seeing the media released so far.
I truely hope the Pred's design looks great and that this film is a hit at the box office, as I would love to see a proper, truely epic AvP film that is set in space. My only wish, that is highly unlikley. Would be to bring back Giger and Stan Winston, as ADI definitley arent on par with their design's.

No they wont, it will be better then avp, but i was told by one of the filmmakers that the mandibles wont fold in like the originals.

I guess it´s ADI´s personal touch on the predator, just like the lips and mouth on the alien.
The predator was made from scratch, so they could have done it, and as you can see, even fanmade heads have the mandibles fold in perfectly.

We both know that wont happen, ADI is cheap, and they did the effects for 4 movies now, fox wont just let them fall on the next job.
They have just a too good relationship with fox.
Who knows, we might get lucky Stan has a better chance With Predator than AVP or ALien series
Considering ADI's resume, I highly doubt they'd be hired because they're cheap.
The simple fact is they have the experience and theoretically don't have to re-invent the wheel for each film.

i have already imagined Predator 1 remake from ADI: this ugly creature instead of predator and Danny de Vito instead of Schwarzenegger.

...I'm trying to be really positive and to say that the reason why it looks so LOL-worthy is because it's just a rubber stunt mask, but at this point I feel really uneasy over definitively saying anything on this film. This does not make me happy. I thought he looked bad when it was still blurry, but the clarity...I've never had a situation where the clarity made it worse (EDIT: actually, I take that back thinking about the PredAlien). I don't want to be judgemental, but I really feel the budget and time alloted is showing.

His studio is also doing the animatronic creature effects for The Incredible Hulk(2008).
I do think that Predators having some minor differences in their faces is very good, as it does add charcter to them..but completely altering the Mandible Shape etc is a bit too much.
I will reserve judgement til we get the movie, or at least, shots that Colin and the rest approve of.

i have already imagined Predator 1 remake from ADI: this ugly creature instead of predator and Danny de Vito instead of Schwarzenegger.
i really hope that the new movie will be so cool, and the designs will be so bad for fans, that finally FOX gives Strause brothers a right to get Winston studio instead of this stupid ADI who really don't understand what they have to create.
I agree with you man. The ADI Pred's face doesnt look as good becouse of the bizarre changes they made to the mandibles. I dont know what that's all about. The maxim "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" has rarely been more appropriate than it is for Wolf's face, but atleast it'll look better in the movie.

No image has so completely captured how degraded the Aliens will be portrayed in this film as this one. You've got your Aliens on its hands and knees like a submissive bitch, with the Predator standing above it in a cool heroic pose.
I know it's not from the movie, but it's entirely representative of the image the film will be selling.
I'm a more positive pred fan but i totally agree i want the aliens to seem as tough and strong as they were in alien and alien3, but at least we know they completely and utterly own the national guard so they won't always get bitched on by all the other characters.

very badly designed I think. They went overboard on the bottom teeth..way to big and the lower mandibles are way to long (like you said) and bulky..overall, a bad makeup design job there. I agree. But he's still hot.
