I realize we're very late to the game with Mr_H, Hybrid Network and Alien_Theory doing plenty of these but after resisting having to learn a new skill for so long I finally gave it a go and put together my first Alien lore video!
Hopefully you guys and girls will enjoy. Feedback is appreciated. :)
Hopefully we'll continue to put these out somewhat regularly and we'll be doing Predator focused things under a separate series and RidgeTop will be starting work on the first episode soon.

Decent start. Will watch more.
I find the writing in Rogue really lacking - both in terms of how the Rogue was created and some clunky and pretentious dialogue. Purge was much better, as were AvP: Eternal, Pursuit and The Web.

Yeah, it's not my favourite either. I wish they'd have gone into what they actually wanted docile Aliens for. Resurrection has suggestions outside of foot soldiers but neither the comic or novel even ventured towards any explanation. I much prefer Labyrinth myself.
I think they just wanted Aliens they could control and could be ordered around.
They specifically talk about being docile, though. Kleist is excited when the King doesn't attack. I don't know - I just don't feel that aspect was really well thought out. It was just a rush to get to the King vs. Queen battle.
I got the impression that Kleist wanted them docile in terms of them not being always hostile dialled up to 11. They would still be deadly - but only when they were ordered.
My main issue was that Edgington didn't seem to have the strongest grasp on the material. The whole creation of the King is very confused.

That would have made more sense but wasn't the impression I got.

No arguments from me there. It all seemed like a bit of a mess when it came to the difficulties around the King/docile Queens. That said, we did get that cool spread with the failed Queens which was nice.
I liked the idea of the secret code being written on kidney of ZCT operatives.
Yeah, that was a neat touch! I did really like the concept behind selectively breeding the Aliens too. It's something I'm using in one of my side projects too.

Nice video Hicks, It will be great to see a series of videos about the lore of the franchise from AVPgalaxy, heh just make sure you cite the sources and give credit where its due if you happen to use anything from other places.
At least so far, you've kept it original, some videos about the lore have the youtubers literally read right off our wiki without crediting us. :P

I think the Kenner King was one of the few missing a comic. The other Kenner comics didn't reference him either. Not sure about the back card though.
The Kenner toys are notoriously wacky, they made a whole line of different Xeno tpyes like gorilla, snake and even giant facehuggers.
Is that you narrating?
Yeah.
You sound so...sane.
It's all a ploy. Don't be fooled by my talent.

Haven't checked this new lore video out yet as I won't be able to hear it where i am, I take it by the title its about the newer information gained from the cold forge?
Finally watched a few of these, happy to see AVPG getting into this and they're nicely put together. Maybe it's me, but I feel like I'm noticing more scrutiny than ever with the xenomorph thing. I always just took it with an assumed amount of license in-universe. Gorman uses it generally as mentioned anyways, but I guess it got messier from there.
And hey, Alien is a broad term too, but we give that one a damn pass just because it was the name of the film and looks pretty on officially licensed coloring books...!
(:P :P)
In response to the second video, about the facehuggers -
Personally I have always preferred the idea that whatever the Hugger was inserting into the host was more along the lines of a "renaissance semen." Utilizing host DNA to finalize the early stage of gestation. This would also potentially allow the injected material to pass through the esophageal wall and attach near the heart and lungs. It would explain the very adaptable and dynamic nature of the Alien appearances and cross breeds, and just how nastily the genetic material of Ripley seemed to fuse with the Alien in Resurrection. It's amorphous and subversive.
Also, Hicks, you guys are doing a wonderful job on these videos. Very entertaining, atmospheric, and informative. Very high quality audio, as well.
These are some great videos! I'm really enjoying them so far.

Fair enough - but when your main focus is on Linguafoeda Acheronsis and Internecivus Raptus, I think the incorrect pronunciation detracts a bit.
Mind I tend to find I can get to anal about stuff that others either don't pick up and/ or don't care about.
Yeah, I don't know how to pronounce either name. Hick's version sounded better than anything I had come up with.
There's the point though. AvPG is the biggest Alien fansite on the web. BE the authority. Don't just guess.
What is the proper pronunciation?
Lingua-foyda ack-er-on-sis (you could also get away with Lingua-fohda I think).
Inter-nee-si-vus (again I think you could also get away with inter-nes-i-vus)
I get that it's one thing to type a word and another to say it, particularly unusual ones like this. I pronounced Giger as guy-ger forever until I heard it pronounced properly on making-of docos as ghee-ger (to rhyme with eager). And even then I had trouble getting my head around the proper pronunciation.
Apparently you went through the same thing as I did with Giger's name. I was even in a state of denial at first and refused to accept that they were pronouncing it correctly.
Nowadays the mispronunciation of his name triggers me.

I could almost defend those in the sense that they're like "audiobook" versions of wiki articles - I can fire up a playlist of a bunch of videos and let them run in the background while I'm doing other stuff.
What puts a bad taste in my mouth is when they don't acknowledge their sources. Like, if they literally said "....and now I'm going to read a the wiki article located at ________, credit given to that wiki", the videos wouldn't feel as scummy.
Yeah, but everything about those videos is scummy and annoying.

Well yeah, that kind of nonsense is, well, nonsense. But if a channel marketed itself as literally being "wiki articles, read aloud in a clear tone of voice", I think there's a legit market for that.

Much appreciated. :)
I'm a sucker for lore videos that do their research, you're up there with Alien Theory in my book. So far you're doing great Hicks! I'm happy you tackled the names video. I personally have been butchering them for so long, and now I don't have to anymore. :D
I wasn't familiar with Eloise before. She seems a lot like what they could have done with Ripley 8.
Don't particularly like the idea of of a robot/xeno hybrid, I mean outside of Xenoborgs which seems like a good concept.
But to have them so seemingly mixed and grown like a human or clone...to organic for a robot in my opinion.
Great video Hicks, good to see they are still original.

Honestly, I think I prefer the Neomorphs. I thought they were really creepy in Covenant and they occupy the same role so...no need for the Deacon.
I agree, though I think I would have preferred Covenant if it just had the Neomorphs as the alien threat. The Xenomorph just didn't really fit for me in that movie, it seemed more incidental rather than the focus.
Agreed, although the Alien is the culmination (apparently) of David's work, the relationship the title refers to; David destroys between humanity and their creators, and the new one David forges between A.I and Alien.
So discarding the Alien changes the film's story entirely, although I agree.
