Really cool stuff. I want to see more of the worm things in the vase/jar.

I got to see the leaked scenes.  Offhand thoughts.

- The multiple Engineers look very Star Trek, and I'm glad they went.
- The Millburn/worms scene was indeed filmed, and would've been a nice addition.  He explains it's their first real alien contact in many systems of exploration.
- The Alien Fifield rampages around like a deranged monkey.  I'm not totally sure if it works.  Shaw is not present in this version, she's still wandering around the bowels of the ship.  Where is the Shaw version?
- The long version of the "Paradise" scene has its moments.  Noomi Rapace's performance is really something, especially when she spits out, "I want to go to Paradise" with no small degree of contempt.  But it's also thoughtful and musing.  I think one key change is the final dialogue between her and David ("well, that's because I'm human...") was originally here, and was much more aggressive.  She's very hostile to him, calls him a "f**king robot" and shoves him into the bag with no apologies over his protests, as opposed to the gentler scene in the final film.

I prefer the theatrical version of that final byplay because in that take of the scene, Shaw's reaction to David is much more ambiguous and intriguing; she treats him almost like a naughty student or child, firm but not without some measure of understanding.  She knows what he's probably done and is pissed, but she is disciplining him, not treating him with contempt like Holloway did; she is much softer with him, perhaps because she thinks she can educate him in a way Weyland didn't.  And I think that's really interesting, because it makes their future relationship that much more layered.

Gave the scenes a watch. I didn't like the opening with all the Engineers, but then again, I was opposed to that from the beginning. The scene discovering the worms was cool, but I wish it went on for a bit longer. I did really like the Shaw and David stuff at the end, though. But to be fair, I only saw the movie once, and don't remember exactly how different the cut of that scene was in the theater.

The final part of the scene was reshot and is much less hostile in the final film; that take is set at the exit of the juggernaut  I prefer that version to this one, but a lot of the longer dialogue as she makes her way to the juggernaut, then they discuss Paradise - that I could've gone for keeping.

I'll have to wait until I see the regular cut again before I make up my mind about the hostile/less hostile version, but so far, that's one of my favorite cut scenes (alongside the alternate Vickers/Weyland conversation and the Vickers/Janeck conversation). The worm one is cool, too, just needed to be a little bit longer.

Oh, forgot to mention, dodgy CGI aside, I actually really liked alternate Fifield. I wasn't expecting him to jump and move around like that.

The alien life finding scene should have been in the final cut,

Fifield was good enough, I would have preferred anything over a space zombie anyway...

The rest of the scenes are a nice touch and make good dvd bonuses but aren't needed in the movie.

The alternate opening is every bit as cringe-worthy as the theatrical one.
I really liked the worms scene -- really should have been included in the film. Alternate Fifield would have certainly been better in the film than what we got, even though the movement choreography still needs adjustments -- and the sounds are horribly chopped out and mixed together stock sounds.
Don't care for the rest.

I agree. I prefer the original cuts version to this. With all those Engineers there it removes the mystery and danger of the black liquid and the lonely road of the sacrificial host.

- The Millburn/worms scene was indeed filmed, and would've been a nice addition.  He explains it's their first real alien contact in many systems of exploration.

It also gives a little more insight to how her reacts to the larger versions later in the film. However ... where does this scene go? There looks like black pools all around them in that scene and by the time the urns leak in the theatrical release, Fifield and Milburn had already high tailed it.

Over all I'd prefer this scene back in the film.

I love this creature. Especially when it's all curled up and begins to unfurl! The scene is still cut up and the audio is all over the place. You can tell they tried to integrate the CGI cut into the Practical cut since there is no Shaw and the audio transitions to her stumbling around the halls don't match. (There is even a glimpse of the practical Fifield in there!)

Omega ... spot on about the adjustments and sounds. Just a tad of polish and maybe some more inspired human/alien anguished cries and we're home.

Overall I would have kept this in. The creature still gives off a ape-ish, devolved, brutal vibe but adds a much needed element of alien creature and creepiness.

I like the discovery of the mutated small worm... only for the fact that it helps contextualise his reaction to the hammerpede. As for the CGI Fifield... so glad they left that out. I think everyone would have been complaining if that had been in the original final version - way too CGI'ish.

All in all, as originally thought, what was on the cutting room floor should stay on the cutting room floor (IMHO).

The sound mix on the final Fifield attack/Shaw wandering sequence is wonderful, especially when the jeep runs him over back and forth and they torch the beast.  So that was sorely missed here.

I think a lot of jaded theatergoers would've laughed at Alien Fifield, so I can understand why they cut it.  I also think the movement needed work.  But I do like the design, and I wish there could've been some happy medium.

I know it's sometimes difficult to conceive of, but a handful of angry posters on the Internet or this forum do not speak for the larger or whole audience.  I'm sure some people didn't go for it and tastes will vary, but I never encountered any laughter in the theater.  The CGI Fifield, OTOH, walks an even thinner tightrope IMO, though it's admirable.  It needed work.

This. There is a poster on this forum that bashes this movies in every single post he made and always speaks in the name of everyone saying the movie is bad, that it floped and everybody hated it. I guess he just ignores the box office results, the critic ratings and so on.

I noticed something in the Fifield scene. He sits on the ground just like the alien in the mural from the head room, and i don't remember if the xeno in one of the alien deleted scenes had the same pose before starting to walk weirdly

Already found it and damn the alternate fifield scene is freaking awesome :o The music and how the creature moves. It's chaotic and great, i love it. Really hoping for an extended cut now.

The CGI did not bother me, but it was cut before the film was finished; if it was included they would have of course fixed it in post-post.

Friends I went to see the film with thought Fifield was funny, and I heard some chuckles next to and behind me during the scene. That's about it.

The scariest clip from all the deleted scenes was the transmission clip. wtf was that? if i were a alien species and see that, i would avoid contact forever. people in suits running, future people with crazy clothes and tribe people mixed together in a random sequence. i get this signifies our diversity of cultures but it was poorly executed. i believed this scene would be the one with the girl playing the violine we saw in the movie but damn....at least there was a chick with some nice legs in there

In the audio commentary of the deleted scenes it's mentioned that Paradise could refer to Earth. Apparently an idea that they considered but didn't develop.

Although it would make sense, since our DnA matches and everything.

Only thing that really negates it is the Engineers referring to it as Paradise, but wanting to destroy it. But then, the word Paradise was cut out of the theatrical version, soo... :D

Here's an shortened edit of the commentary for that scene in case you want to listen to it:

About the worm scene, they mention that the scene was great for character development but not for the story. It didn't explain anything about this first Alien life form so it got removed.

And there are some 360º videos of some 3D models in the disc but nothing really interesting. A few preview screencaps:

The weyland speech is great. Together with the deleted dialogue with him and the engineer it just fleshes out to character so much. In the movie we just got a silly rich old man who wanted to live forever. Such a cliche

I got to say, I've seen ALL deleted scenes from the bluray edition, and Fifield's alternate scene was worse - the way he moved as ape/xeno-like - it didn't bring anything new to the table, as far as the tension/choreography is concerned, I'm not sure if this was more tense than the original one. I'd definetly cut it along with "skin", the rest I'd keep. Oh and I was actually disappointed by those extra deleted scenes because I hoped they'd be more meaningful, but still had all of them been inserted into the TC of the movie, it'd definetly make it better.

"About the worm scene, they mention that the scene was great for character development but not for the story. It didn't explain anything about this first Alien life form so it got removed."
But Millburn's retarded wankfest was kept because of..? At least with that deleted scene we DO KNOW WHY he was so excited...

But Millburn's retarded wankfest was kept because of..? At least with that deleted scene we DO KNOW WHY he was so excited...

And HELLO? These are scientists on an alien world discovering the first remnants of an alien civilization and they either want to run away or get drunk.

This scene should of been in there because it shows that at least one of the characters actually gives a single f**k, and that that same character wasn't the biggest idiot in film history.

If the theatrical release of this movie, in my opinion, was an excellent and polished piece of garbage, why is everybody hoping  that the fans will finally have what all the Promertheus crew promised prior to the premier in the blu ray/dvd. The answers should of been given in the cinemas where everybody spent their hard earned money. And now they want a second round of rip off? not me. fortunetely this movie is easy to forget...

Sometimes I think the only emotion people can feel these days is discontent.

Cutting Milburn's worm discovery wouldn't have forwarded to actual story but would have partially shed some light on why he got all Crocodile Hunter with the larger specimens.

That being said ... had the kept the scene in ... his description of the 'elongated reptile creature with translucent skin' would have been odd considering only hours before he discovered similar creatures ... only smaller.

And as far as answers ... I don't want them. I'd rather it be kept ambiguous. That's part of why the original Alien was so different. It didn't try to explain the Derelict and the Space Jockey. They only wondered out loud about the Alien creature and it's life cycle.

The answers they are promising on the disk are in the form of design and production. Conceptual. Nothing that could ever be taken as canon, on screen revelations. We'll be hearing Ridelys thoughts, inspirations, etc. But however the market guys want to try to sell it to people.

So far the only thing that has surprised me is the fifield scene.  I still think the creature looks goofy, but the scene just feels a lot better.

I have to watch the original again to compare.

Yeah, I would definitely now change the hanger scene to the sillier looking, but moving more like the classic xenomorph FiField, add in minimum vickers line about the creature in the other room, add the entire final battle, have the entire engineer speaks, and use more of that ending.

I would leave the rest on the floor, i like leaving out the conversation between the captain and vickers as the dialog reminds me of another movie[like so close in dialog it is funny, i cant think of what movie it is to save my life] and it makes vickers too human.

watched "paradise" again. I greatly prefer it.  I don't think shaw should like david at all after the shit he has caused.  I prefer that ending big time.

That scene works for me more the more I see it.  Especially someone rubbing Millburn's head at the end.  I'm sure the tumblr slash shippers will be all over it.

While it's true the original Alien is very lean on character, I do kind of wish both Fifield and Millburn had a bit longer in the picture.  Maybe one gets back to the ship and slowly transforms, maybe they both do.

I don't even remember this in the deleted battle scene that leaked online.  What the f**k?  That could be very interesting.

Love all the extended engineer stuff. It gives them so much more character. Only thing i disliked was the alternate opening scene... But the talking and this makes it look much more intelligent.

Yep, now I can say with certainty that I would have preferred the alternate Fifield to what we got in the film.

I think the CG in the actual filmed scene needed some work.  And I can see how it might alienate and they went for practical.  I was okay with the film version.

But, I do think the design work and development was absolutely stupendous.  I would've liked to see more of that.  And I think they could've perfected the creature for the shoot.

I suppose a sequel will go further off the edge with this stuff, which is good.

Ah, thanks.

The alternate Fitfield scene is a mess, but that's par for the course. It's clearly a rough edit. I do like the design, mostly. Specifically the back of the head and the long limbs. The jumping feels a little fake- leaping in CGI often feels cartoony. And I'm not a huge fan of monsters with big angry faces. But mostly it works.

Still, I'm ok with how it was in the theatrical cut... Though in the alt version it makes more sense why somebody would be confused by the weirdly sitting Fitfield outside of the ship. The head is less clearly a head.
