Really cool. I love that Ridley knew exactly what proportions, number of fingers, tail stinger, and shape of the head the Alien should have despite being away from the franchise for so long. Like he really knows it intimately. Boss.

Should it have been designed with the biomechanical aesthetic it would probably look almost exactly like Isolations Alien.
Wich arguably is the best alien ever created.

Did he though, or was it the effects team that actually put it together?

yes. He's the director, He points them where to go. All the artists have said He knew exactly what he wanted and had them reference old Giger paintings for specific features.

Odd Studios work on Covenant was great.

Around the time the TV series was announced I tagged them into a tweet/post saying give the creature effects job to these guys again, which they favourited; how I pray they get it!
