I've beat it three times.

First time on Hard
Second time on Easy and didn't die.
Lastly on Nightmare

I still feel like playing the game again.  Is any of the DLC worth it?

Last Survivor and Crew Expandable sure are.

Besides that Safe Haven and Lost Contact are pretty neat too. The other one is pretty short.

Due to time I'm still on my second playthrough - on Hard. Just gotten into Apollo's hemispheres.

Once on hard. Playing through on Nightmare, atm.

Played it twice on normal and then a third time on hard. I actually didnt find it to be much different from normal probably because I knew the game well enough by this point to deal with the alien, no matter how aggressive it was. I did run dangerously low on fuel for my.flamethrower though which didnt happen on normal.

Next time I play I think ill give nightmare a go.

I'm looking at doing another run-through when I've cleared my gaming backlog, plus getting all the available DLC to boot.

I'm on sixth or seventh playthrough, this time on normal. Have done easy once, hard once, nightmare once and normal a bunch of times. I just like pottering around looking for details! It's the first game I've ever 100 percented as a result of that. (Also because I am old and incapable!)

Currently playing on Novice and have yet to beat it on Novice.  Beat it on Normal though.

Three times myself on normal, hard then easy but I'm gearing myself up to attempt nightmare mode. I'm a little apprehensive though because after that playthrough I won't have anything else to do in Isolation.

First time on hard. Then the second time on novice to get the one shot and collectables trophies that I missed to get the Platinum. I will probably play it on nightmare at some point, but the game really is draining and you feel like you need to take a brake from it after playing for a while.

Old thread, I know, so apologies.  ;)

Anyway, I've completed the game twice on hard and then twice on nightmare and currently on my third playthrough on nightmare. Still haven't got the one hundred deaths "achievement" though (although to be fair I've loaded the game before dying a couple of times)!  8)

I don't own a console these days despite being an avid gamer many moons ago. However my son does is quite the gamer himself.

He showed me this game finally a few months ago and let me have a crack at it.

I lasted maybe 5 mins before thinking this game is way too intense. Amazing and terrifying. Wish I had more time on my hands these days to play something like but I fear I would simply p*ss my pants too much ;-)

I got it for Xbox One last year.  Played it through twice so far - once on normal and once on hard.  Going to play again on Nightmare once I finish AVP 2010 on hard (and replay AVP2/Primal Hunt).

As of now:

Hard x7
Easy x 1
Nightmare x1

I'm withholding my desire to play it again until October.

I like to binge play to get the most out of the experience but I don't have a great deal of spare time unfortunately. I've done it twice. Once on normal and once on hard.

Same, I've only managed the one, laborious playthrough (I tried to wring everything out of it that I could, since I knew I wouldn't get a lot of opportunities to just immerse myself later on.)

I definitely feel like it's a game you get the most out of by just putting aside a load of time and just immersing yourself into the world. Lights off, headphones on.

Yep, even when you've completed the game multiple times and know it almost inside out, the setting is so atmospheric that I don't mind going through it again.

Of course, nothing can beat that first time - when I first got the game I selected Nightmare, but the Medical part was so intense that I restarted on Hard.  :o

Too right! I feel like another replay might be in order! Still need to finish getting the collectables.

Don't suppose Creative Assembly have commented about Isolation potentially becoming compatible with PS VR?

I don't think they've spoken about the game for a while now. I doubt it'll see any additional support.

Completed it on hard and either did complete it on nightmare or almost have, I haven't played it a long, long while. I do miss it but my console is packed away atm.
Definitely a game that needs to be played on hard or nightmare though, much more immersive.

it's really funny to see what it does on Novice sometimes, so I made the best of it.

I've done it on nightmare once, and i'm not sure I want to do it again, purely because the working joes are so damn annoying! They catch you, that's it. No fighting back, ur just dead. It proved to be a very tedious task when dealing with the orange ones while trying to overload the reactor.

When ever I replay the game, I just do it on hard mode. The first time I ever played through, I put it on medium because I wanted to get through all the story and discover all the new areas as quickly as possible, and from then on just played hard mode all the time.

I'm currently playing on Nightmare mode and I've found that:

-You get hit once, it's instant death (by Working Joe, hostile humans, etc)
-You can't use the map, so you have to know your way around
-The motion tracker does not work as well
-Hiding in a locker is useless, as the alien will find you every time

Otherwise, I've found it pretty on much on par with Hard mode.

The thing about Nightmare is items become pretty key later in the game. Earlier on, you can get away with hiding mostly. Later on, it's multiple aliens, and some situations are just plain cheap in spots can actually force you to use items, which is fine. But if you use too much ammo or materials early on, it can hurt you, in the end of the game. And while there are caches throughout the game, materials and ammo are pretty friggin scarce on Nightmare. It just feels like one of the funner aspects of the game is less prominent on Nightmare precisely because you never want to use up any of your precious flares or crafting components if you don't have. Sometimes, it's just better to die, and redo a section over than to use a pipe bomb or a noisy box to save your life.

Post by: Scorpio on Oct 10, 2016, 11:14:54 AM
I just completed Nightmare, and you don't have to save materials/ammo, it just makes it easier if you do so.  Like trying to shoot facehuggers with just your revolver is pretty difficult.  But if you use your materials/ammo, you have to make it count (ie:  be extremely resourceful).  There is no good wasting anything on Nightmare mode.

The Alien is actually pretty easy to deal with once you know where to go and what you're doing (save points definitely help).

The Androids in the level with the reactors are a pain in the ####.  I had one bolt gun ammo, managed to take one down with that, another with the shotgun and another via molotov + pistol.  Took forever doing that part.

I started again the other night, mainly to show my gf the game. I started on nightmare... I have no problem with difficult games (I have platinum-ed all souls games :-s) but the lack of a map is a bit worrying.

I'm not sure I can remember my way through the game well enough to not have a map for the objectives etc. How did people deal with that? Was it just a case of remembering where to go?

Played through on Regular first, then played through on Nightmare and found it a cake walk. Alien never gave me any trouble, the only part that was in anyway irksome was after ejecting the first Stompy into space and having to deal with those Joes with limited tools and ammunition.

The hive section was interesting, found out that the Aliens can't follow you into any of the holes and that made it ridiculously easy but also allowed for some messing around. Smacking walls with the wrench and then ducking into a hole as the Aliens come running and just sticking out your tongue and going "Nyah nyah!" XD

They can if you're close to the opening and the mood takes them. But the tunnels do act as a safe zone for the most part.

Don't they also climb into these once in a while, like, once in a million times? Pretty sure I had that happening to me on Normal.

SO yeah the nightmare no map thing, can you still see objectives on the motion tracker?

Yeah, I just finished it recently. Still a great game, but I don't like the way the Alien acts in some parts. For example, I never cared for the Alien screaming when he sees you. It came off goofy to me. The suspense the game has is excellent though. I'll probably play it again the next couple of years.

Never tried it on Nightmare. Only normal for me.

Take your time, think things through and take advantage of scripted behaviour. I found regular quite hard, but I was new to the game and often playing as though it were a run n' gun FPS rather than a stealth game. When playing on Nightmare I'd already learnt from my mistakes and played appropriatly. It really isn't a hard game at all.

Into vents, yes, but not into the holes in the hivewall. I've sat there shooting at the Aliens and they just walk off in an indignant huff.

I have and there is a trick. It is possible to go through the levels and not get caught by the alien but you have to stay off its radar. I've gone a few levels before it got wise that I've been around a while. Because its adapting A.I, it needs to know your around first before it starts checking vents, lockers ETC. Otherwise, as long as your quiet, it mainly stays in the vents. I made to the second part of medical before I made a loud sound and it started stalking me non-stop.
