James Cameron's thoughts on Blomkamp's Alien 5 (Read 1,904 times)

Well its just a matter of time until James Cameron perks up and notices that one of his key films is being continued so I expect that we will hear a commentary from him soon.  I always wished that Cameron would just do what Blomkamp is doing right now, but if he was a producer, that would also be very cool.  If you hear anything about Cameron's thoughts on Alien 3 Take 2, can't wait to hear it.  post here...

I would love it if Cameron ended up co-producing the film with Ridley. It'd be a really great seal of approval for the new film, I think, which would be something my dad would definitely love to hear.

Ugh, that would make this whole project even more unbearable than it is. The thought of Cameron's inflated ego in an A3/A:R retcon makes me throw up in my mouth.

ugh I know. I also watch Fight Club every month and praise myself on how smart I am above the plebeian masses. I wish Stanley Kubrick made Alien, I wish everyone was unrealistic and woefully smart as I am intelligent smart and intelligent, I love when I'm in an echo chamber.

Yes, Fight Club is my favorite movie and I'm the smartest guy in the world... Not.

Thanks for your input.

What if Fincher endorsed it?

Doktor Wunderbar

I think Fincher's response would be "What-f**king-ever.  I'm done with that franchise and I have been for over 20 years."

Chris!(($$))!

Fincher knows the faults of ALIEN 3 were not due to him. If anything the movie might still haunt him of the presence of the production companies and he might find peace in knowing that it's being "covered up" in a way.

Doktor Wunderbar

I think the experience still left a bitter taste in his mouth, though.  Fox has reached out to him on more than one occasion to get commentary or an introductory spot or editing for their various DVD and Blu-Ray releases of the films; he made it pretty clear that he was done with the series.

I'm not sure he ever even really cared about the first two movies; I think he simply needed a gig, and they gave him one.

Local Trouble

Too bad Fincher didn't have the stones to disavow it back then and let it be an Alan Smithee film.

I think I read somewhere he tried to have his name removed, but they wouldn't let him.

Or maybe I've just confused it with a totally different film.

Scree

Cameron won't care about this at all if Blomkamp decides not to film Alien 5 in 3D or HFR.  ;D

No, he was a big fan of 'Alien'. I don't recall exactly what his feelings were on 'Aliens' (he either liked it or didn't have any problems with it), but there are many articles which reference how Fincher was attempting to replicate Scott's tone with the original, lone hunting creature. Think Giger wrote about how enthusiastic the guy was.

What Doctor Wunderbar said. I think Fincher is so over this franchise, which is totally understandable. I mean, I feel so over it too sometimes and I'm just an ordinary geek. Fincher on the other hand was tortured from day one. On a good note it must have toughened him up.
