Ok... Looks mighty fine... I still don't know about the Welded-on-Flamethrower-Powerloader thing, but other than that the game seems pretty intense and scary. Just wish that the Adult Aliens (Warriors/Drones) were slightly taller (they look like 6,8 ft when they should be 8 ft). I hope they will make this game crazy hard even on Easy setting. Every encounter with a Xenomorph should be a near death experience.

Could be. I think they are in the early 7'2" - 7'4" range when they should be in the 7'6" - 8' range. But they are definitely bigger than Marines so thats good.

I hope that the game will be like it was shown in the trailer. That there are often other marines around you fighting against the xenomorphs but there also have to be some quiet and scary parts where you are alone in some dark places.

No I think that AVP 2010 takes place in 2209.
While this game takes place in 2179.
So the two ships crashing in the trailer, that's the Sephora and the... Sulaco? I don't know how I feel about the Sulaco crashing back down on the planet (or even being at LV-426 at all), unless the Marines from the Sephora piloted it back there. Like as of 'Alien3' it was headed to earth, and then there was the fire onboard and the survivors got ejected. There shouldn't be a reason for the ship to somehow pilot itself back to LV-426.
Also this makes four games that have gone "back to LV-426" (Aliens: Infestation, Aliens: Extermination, AvPClassic, and A:CM). Popular place I guess. :P

That shot of the Queen was really really sweet. This is looking what AvP should've been like.
The ship crashing on the right side it is Sulaco. Maybe they tried to take Sulaco back to the company to examine it, and there was still an egg on board, around the orbit of LV-426 the aliens took everyone out on Sulaco, and the 2 ships collide, crashing both on LV-426, we can see a carrier ship escaping one of the ships, probably the marines were on it. They crash landed somewhere on LV-426, but I doubt that they are on the exact colony, there is a wasteland because of the nuclear explosion at the end on Aliens.

If you pause it right after she throws him, the right arm is stretched , and it is all intact and with his left arm, he holds the pulse rifle.

I wouldn't get my panties in a bunch yet. For all we know, it could be a scripted event.
If that can happen anytime as an actual gameplay mechanic, then yeah, it would be awesome. But there's no way to tell as of now and experience teached me stuff we see in trailers should never be taken for granted.

The game looks good enough as it is. If the drop-in-drop-out aspect is as good GBX claims it is AND if they can match the look of this trailer with the gameplay, it'll be as damn near to a perfect Aliens game as we could've ever hoped for. However, if the gameplay needs some fine tuning, I'd hope that they immediately shift all their resources to making the controls perfect now...like I said, the game looks good enough as it is.

Bingo. The aliens prob have line-of-sight algorithms that help them look at the player. Clipping will occur.
its probaly a dead ai in that momment, so the ragdoll does a weird movement as it is about fall down.

It's just a case of bad clipping. You can see its head and mouth moving earlier in that scene.

Sorta off-topic, but a Silent Hill-esque Alien game would be cool, wandering around, unarmed, and the Aliens would be able to mess around with you considering you're not firing 1200 rounds per minute at them. The Alien slowly approaching would be scary.

I'm with you guys there. I've wanted a genuine survival-horror Aliens game for so long now. If only.
Oh, and that trailer is f**king sick! I'm so happy the game has ironsights too.
It's ironic that the old school ALIEN3 game had an armed Ripley and hundreds of Aliens in it :P
This game will keep me happy, though.
Finally we get some gameplay footage, hallelujah.
So far it looks pretty damn good, I especially loved the ending when you see the Queen tearing some poor sap in half, just brutal. The sound effects were also amazing, especially the authentic pulse rifle.
I noticed that the Aliens look a little short, it was noticeable when one stood upright behind a Marine & was only slightly taller than him, hopefully in the final game they will be a little larger. Also I hope they will be primarily bipedal, I don't know why they have been portrayed as quadrupeds in recent years.
I love the lack of a HUD, it makes the environment so much more immersive, I wish they did that with AvP.
Anyway, final thoughts- it's looking very promising so far. That trailer really captured the Aliens feel down to a tee, hopefully the final game won't disappoint.

A remixed version of the new (8/24/11) Aliens: Colonial Marines "Action" Trailer. James Cameron had gained inspiration for how Aliens played out from the Vietnam war: "Their training and technology are inappropriate for the specifics, and that can be seen as analogous to the inability of superior American firepower to conquer the unseen enemy in Vietnam: a lot of firepower and very little wisdom, and it didn't work."
I actually started not to mind the little parts where it cuts to the black breaks after a while; doesn't exactly look bad, but not fantastic. Still, with the whole Vietnam vibe from Aliens, I found the song fit pretty well.

There's too much confusion...
A remixed version of the new (8/24/11) Aliens: Colonial Marines "Action" Trailer. James Cameron had gained inspiration for how Aliens played out from the Vietname war: "Their training and technology are inappropriate for the specifics, and that can be seen as analogous to the inability of superior American firepower to conquer the unseen enemy in Vietnam: a lot of firepower and very little wisdom, and it didn't work."
I actually started not to mind the little parts where it cuts to the black breaks after a while; doesn't exactly look bad, but not fantastic. Still, with the whole Vietnam vibe from Aliens, I found the song fit pretty well.

Wait so both ships crash into the planet? what about all the nukes that was mentioned it was carrying as well as all of the Sulaco's, man Lv426 must be f**ked after the processor explosion, 2 ships and all the warheads they were carrying i'm surprised anything survived :-\
I don't think a nuke would just explode; material would leak and cause a hazard, but the bombs may not detonate.
By the looks in the trailer those ships hit pretty hard, but i guess we'll find out when we play it

Drop Ships carry the nukes and we don't know how many Drop Ships survive.

I noticed that too, but mainly the running. On the upside its nowhere near as as jerky as AVP 3.

That's not surprising. The game is the same basic idea as AvP in terms of gameplay but with only Aliens.
Me happy that they stick to the Cameron Queen. Let´s wait and see for the rest.
I'm extremely anxious to find out whether or not they're still planning on including multiplayer modes, and if we'll be able to play as Aliens or not. :D

In recent interviews they've said they will have competitive multiplayer and that we can make specific assumptions about a game that involves Marines and Aliens.
Yeah i'd like to see some kind of "No Hope" Mode in Hadleys Hope...one sides job is to protect the civilians and the other side spawns as Aliens and Facehuggers that got to kill 'em.

I wouldn't worry about the xenos being small. If you recall the part when the one Alien comes up behind that marine he is much bigger compared to the marine.

I've heard the tails have been fixed. That's simply using older footage.
Not all of the trailer footage comes from the E3 demo, but some of it does indeed.

I agree with your first two points, both need to be addressed ASAP, but I disagree with the rest. We saw what? One, two Aliens getting blasted? The rest of the trailer showed them literally slaughtering the Marines. You gotta admit they've never been portrayed like this in a game trailer before. Very much in line with their movie-counterparts.
I hope their quadrupedal movement is kept to a minimum and contextually appropriate. Not like how it was in AVP when they were ALWAYS on all fours. Even spike, the runner in Alien 3, used bipedal movement quite a bit.
Another thing that
always irks me, and incidentally gives us a window into the mind of a dev and how they perceive the Alien's physical prowess, is when you see an Alien reach down from a ceiling (or a vent in a ceiling/wall, whatever) to grab a human and you see it kinda struggle pulling him/her up. Sometimes even briefly losing it's grip. Obviously I'm referring to scripted events. Whenever I see this crap, I can't help but think, "these devs need to watch the f***'n movies again".

I suppose by making them about 6-7' tall, devs can justify their physically weak portrayal in the games (especially games that also feature Preds, i.e. any AVP game). Why devs have been doing this in the first place is beyond me. It's been going on for about 15 years now and I'm hoping GB will set the standard.
I can't tell whether all of you saying it looks like AvP2010 are idiots or just trolling. The trailer was taken from footage of the E3 or GamesCon/Pax Prime demo. In A:CM we can aim and crouch two major features missing from AvP2010. The Xenos look better even if they may not be the 100% right size they are near it.
When we see the footage finally released then we can finally judge it. But so far it seems to be leaps and bounds better than AvP2010.
Well, I'm in agreement with you Chris. So far, aside from a few relatively small quips, A:CM is looking to be the kind of game we've been waiting a very long time for.
What I was saying about their strength was a general gripe with their portrayal in past Alien/AVP games and how I'm hoping what we see in the A:CM trailer is a sign of things to come.

I really hope the part where the queen grabs you isn't just trailer hype but something along the lines of Dead Space gameplay.

Every time a xeno grabs a victim from the top down it does seem effortless. This is obvious when Brett gets killed in
Alien and when Andrews gets killed in
Alien3. In
Aliens however, the xenos appear to struggle when they take Hudson and use the bottom down approach. Go figure.
Well Hicks was trying to hold on to him and I think Hudson stuck his PR down there in attempt to shoot it plus I doubt the space below the floor in ALIENS was probably small. Imagine trying to pull someone down while laying down on your stomach.
