Title: AvPGalaxy's Let's Play AVPR (PSP)
Post by: RidgeTop on Dec 27, 2018, 06:33:38 PM
Continuing on after our first Let's Play series of the Aliens Vs. Predator (2010) campaigns, we've started on our next game we'll be adventuring through: Aliens Vs. Predator Requiem for the PSP by Rebellion Developments!

Corporal Hicks and RidgeTop are trading off on each level again, with RidgeTop starting the game's first mission: Arrival. The game has three optional routes that lead to the end levels, and our first bunch of uploads will be of Route 1: Underground. Corporal Hicks reviewed this game way back in 2008, and it's been fun to revisit this title over ten years later.

With this new year of 2019 being one where we won't be seeing a theatrical film, we'll have more time to focus on our YouTube channel, and after this Let's Play series, we plan on continuing with other games.

This is our second Let's Play series, and feedback is still always appreciated and taken into account when making these, so let us know what you think in this thread.

I have a gut feeling your next let's-play will be A:CM.

But, let's enjoy this one for now, shall we?

That one is definitely on the list, though I'm not sure it'll be next.

Buddy was the father's name because I remember the cop saying that's buddy somethings car. I also feel slightly depressed for knowing that.

Apologies for the delay on Part 2, there were a few audio issues to work out, but here it is!

Hey RidgeTop. Is the Predator vision essential to the gameplay?

It's bugging out everytime I hit it and/or cycle through it - resulting as either a full red screen or full green screen. However, I'd love to continue playing if success in the game doesn't really require it.

Not really. You can do perfectly fine without it.

Have to say guys,
I really enjoyed
your AVP 2010
playthrough but
the commentary
has felt very lackluster
on this thus far-
are you just not into it?

I'd say we're still getting a feel for this one. AVP (2010) was a game we are both very familiar with, whereas this one it's been a long time since either of us have played through it. The levels for this are shorter as well and less dynamic, though I've still been enjoying it.

We're new at these things and we don't go in with the goal of our commentary being entertaining for the sake of it, we're playing through the game and having a conversation about it, naturally that'll lead to some times where we are more focused on gameplay and others where various topics arise. I know plenty of Let's Players will try to be funny or talk the whole time, but that doesn't seem to be our style.

Anyway, that's my explanation, but maybe Hicks is hating this and he just hasn't told me.

Never really watched a whole playthrough of this game. I really appreciate that you're trying to make videos on all of these games, even though I never would've guessed that this game would come up so soon, it's still fun to see AVP galaxy's take on it.

I wouldn't say I don't want it to be entertaining but we certainly don't go in with the intent of being funny or such. I haven't had the chance to watch through these uploads yet - I've only just got back from holiday - but this game certainly has less meat on it and less of a known development story to chat about as we go along.

I very much do sort of treat the commentary like a mini-podcast to go along with the visuals, though. Sorry if you're not finding the discussion interesting enough.

It certainly wasn't planned to be. I had intended on doing Concrete Jungle next but RidgeTop wanted to do this one and it's a pretty easy one to blast though. As it went a little under the radar, hopefully people who didn't pick this one up are enjoying the gameplay.

Guess it's not just me experiencing that bug, thankfully with mine though it only seems to be limited to flickering.

Glitchy Noob lol &

The Fugitive Predator eliminated humans because of awful targeting lmao.

Apologies RidgeTop but AVP/AVPR's a lost cause, especially regarding the merger.

I'm still waiting for Great Expansion of your YouTube channel, that is promised in the end of almost each podcast  :)

But it's great that you finally got to finish your AVPR let'splay. That game was the only AVP experience on my recently bought PSP and still have some soft place in my soul.

And I demand Isolation Let'sPlay! I mean, IMMEDIATELY!

I'm deeply disappointed I couldn't watch Space Monster.

And yes, Dissecting Aliens was initially released pre-AR, and then revised later.

If we can't laugh at our own squabbles, what kind of life are we living?

Just pick a food that doesn't agree with you and I can be that too. How about Horseradish. Do you dislike Horseradish? I can be horseradish.

When a new game comes out, if I want to see it right away, I'll look for a certain kind of youtuber. If i want to see a game played through on the highest difficulty and all the achievements unlocked, I'll look for that specifically. But for these games where most of them aren't new, I enjoy seeing AVP Galaxy's take on them. And as IMO the representative and one of the best parts of the fandom, if I see you guys put out a video of playing such a game as AVPR which I never really had a great interest for, I'll definitely watch it and find out something new.

I'm really glad you're doing these. Maybe they wont have all the views in the world but I do feel they are needed takes on these games. Though I'm not in a hurry. Take your time guys.
